Morning Gratitude Practice
This is a 9-minute morning gratitude meditation, with an extra minute of silence at the end so that you may linger in the atmosphere of gratitude if you wish. You might make this meditation the first thing you do every morning, and notice how this heightened gratitude sweetens your day. After each sitting, consider taking a quick moment to write a letter or an email to someone you're grateful for, or take some other action to support something that you appreciate in the world. Gratitude draws out the best in us and all those around us. It also tends to create more reasons for us to be grateful. Keep in mind that gratitude is ultimately about being thankful for everything in our lives, not just the obvious blessings. Sometimes things appear in our lives that are at first unwanted, but in hindsight gave us an opportunity to grow or discover who we are. A gratitude practice helps us recognize these more hidden blessings too, which sets us free from resentment and other afflictions.
