I'd like to offer another meditation to help grieve the loss of a pregnancy because it's difficult to process these emotions.
This meditation could be helpful for any miscarriage,
Ectopic pregnancy,
Or even an unsuccessful round of IUI and IVF to help deal with any feelings of loss on your fertility journey.
Make sure you're in a safe space where you feel free to experience a range of emotions.
Get a candle that can burn safely for a while.
Unscented is ideal so as not to overwhelm your senses.
Light the candle and sit in front of it.
Close your eyes and get comfortable.
You may need a pillow or blanket underneath your buttocks to help stay seated without straining your back.
Release physical tension with a double inhale through the nose.
Tense your whole body.
Hold the tension until you vibrate.
And then relax every muscle with a double exhale through your mouth.
Let's do this two more times together.
Double inhale through your nose.
Tense your whole body.
Tense.
Vibrate.
And relax with a double exhale.
One more time,
Double inhale through the nose.
Tense every muscle in your body.
Hold it until you vibrate.
And then feel the relaxation with a double exhale.
Sit in this relaxation and allow yourself to think of your loss.
How do those thoughts feel in your body?
Without any bodily sensations that come with your grief.
Do you hold grief in your chest or throat or stomach or somewhere else?
Allow yourself to physically experience grief.
When you're ready,
Mentally gather any sadness or sorrow into your heart center.
Physically take your hands and scan your body,
Collecting any lingering despair.
Rest your hands on your heart center.
Imagine your hands are like a magnet,
Collecting all your grief and anguish.
Now open your eyes and throw that energy into the candle's flame.
Be careful not to touch the flame.
Just imagine the fire burning up your sorrow,
Purifying you,
Releasing you from grief's grip.
Let the fire destroy your sadness.
Let it go.
If you still feel heavy,
Run your hands over your body again,
Allowing your magnet to collect more emotion.
Throw it into the fire again,
Releasing it into the flames.
Do this as many times as you need to feel lighter.
Gather that sorrow at your heart center and then throw it into the flames,
Letting the fire purify and release your emotions.
Release that grief.
Now,
Watch the flames flicker.
Try to think of nothing else but the purity of the fire.
If thoughts arise,
Don't judge yourself.
Simply concentrate back on the candle flame.
If it helps,
Practice Hong-Sau while you look into the fire.
I'll give you a minute to do so now.
Okay.
When you're ready to end the meditation,
Affirm out loud,
I awake in the light.
I am joyful.
I am free.
Softer now,
I awake in the light.
I am joyful.
I am free.
I awake in the light.
I am joyful.
I am free.
Bring the affirmation within by mentally repeating,
I awake in the light.
I am joyful.
I am free.
Practice this meditation often.
Loss and grief do not go away overnight.
So don't judge yourself if you continue to feel those emotions growing inside you.
This is not easy.
Whenever you notice the emotions,
Pay attention to how the grief feels in your body.
When you're aware of the emotions,
It can be easier to release them.
Mentally offer the affirmation,
I awake in the light.
I am joyful.
I am free.
Keep a candle in various places where you'll see it,
And whenever you see the flicker,
Recall the sense of peace that this meditation brings.
You can and will heal with time.
Allow yourself to let go of sorrow and choose happiness,
One day at a time.
Journaling and talking with a therapist are other powerful tools in your kit as you grieve any loss on your journey.
Give yourself grace during these difficult times.
Reach for the support you need to feel better.
