You may hold on to resentments,

Disappointments,

Or trauma that are emotionally holding you back.

If this resonates with you,

Forgiveness may be the place to start.

By letting go of the past,

You can free yourself up for the future you desire.

Try to remember that forgiveness is for you,

Not for the person you feel has wronged you.

Holding on to resentment hurts you more than it hurts them.

You're not forgetting what they've done or agreeing with them.

You're releasing the pain you've been holding on to because of their behavior.

Allow yourself to heal.

Get comfortable and close your eyes.

Practice five rounds of even count breathing.

Inhale through your nose,

Hold your breath,

And then exhale through your nose for the same duration.

I'll guide you through the first round with a count of five.

Inhale,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five.

Hold,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five.

Exhale,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five.

Practice four more rounds at your own pace.

Release control and simply relax.

Release control and simply watch your breath.

When you inhale through your nose,

Mentally say,

Hong.

When you exhale,

Mentally say,

Sa.

Hong sa.

Enjoy any moments of silence in between breaths.

Practice hong sa for three minutes.

Hong sa.

If thoughts arise,

Acknowledge them without judgment and bring your attention back to the mantra.

Hong sa.

If thoughts arise,

Acknowledge them without judgment and bring your attention back to the mantra.

If thoughts arise,

Acknowledge them without judgment and bring your attention back to the mantra.

Now fully relaxed,

Think of the person that wronged you.

Hold them in your mind's eye.

Say aloud,

I forgive you.

I let go of what happened and am moving on with my life.

With belief and conviction,

Say out loud again,

I forgive you.

I let go of what happened and am moving on with my life.

Softer now,

I forgive you.

I let go of what happened and am moving on with my life.

Whisper,

I forgive you.

I let go of what happened and am moving on with my life.

Now mentally repeat,

I forgive you.

I forgive myself.

Sit quietly in the peace this affirmation gives you and practice this affirmation as often as it feels good.

There are other ways to offer forgiveness as well.

You could write them a letter that you never send.

For your eyes only,

This may allow you to explore your feelings to give yourself perspective.

If it makes sense,

You could meet up with them in person to discuss the past.

But depending on your situation,

It may be better to start with a visualization of meeting with them.

This way,

You're speaking to their higher selves rather than their ego-based self,

Which may not be ready to admit fault.

You could also send them blessings after your meditations.

By mentally sending them good vibes,

You learn to let go.

You will also be blessed in the process.

Find the closure you need.

If you feel you need more support in this endeavor,

I strongly recommend seeking a therapist as well.

You owe it to yourself to heal the wounds of the past.
