So welcome.
This is your midnight reset.
You've woken up in the middle of the night,
And that's okay.
This moment doesn't need to be a problem.
It can be a gentle pause,
A reset,
An invitation to soften.
Let's begin by noticing your breath.
Without trying to change it,
Just become aware that you're breathing.
Awareness of the belly,
Rising with the inhale,
And falling with the exhale.
Now slowly invite a deeper inhale through your nose,
A long,
Slow exhale from the mouth.
Let this sigh release energy from your body.
Try one more.
Inhale,
Releasing energy,
Melting the body.
Notice the contact between your body and your bed.
Your body melting down into the bed.
The weight of your limbs and gravity holding you here,
Doing all the work to support you so that you can just relax.
Scanning your body,
Beginning at the top of the head,
Just to notice the skull,
The forehead,
Your relaxed jaw.
A softening at the back of your neck,
Your shoulders melting down,
Your arms heavy.
The quiet rhythm of your heart,
Your belly softening,
Softening through your hips,
Your legs.
Your feet,
Everything is slowing down.
Even if the mind is wanting to stay alert,
The body can begin to rest here.
And as the body begins to rest,
It becomes easier,
Even just a little bit easier,
To release thoughts from the mind.
You can imagine that your thoughts drift out of your mind like mist over a quiet field,
Appearing,
Dissolving,
Not needing your attention.
You can whisper this or repeat it in your mind.
I don't need to solve anything right now.
It's okay for me to rest.
I don't need to solve anything right now.
It's okay for me to rest.
We'll do a breathing process that can gently help you relax and release anything you're holding.
And it's simply an inhale for the count of four,
A hold for a count of two,
For a count of six.
Inhale.
Hold.
Hold.
Exhale.
Inhale.
Try it on your own.
In for four.
Hold for two.
Exhale for six.
Keep going.
And if you lose count,
It's okay.
Just return as you remember.
Last exhale.
And let it go.
Your body knows how to rest.
Rest is healing,
Even if sleep doesn't return right away.
So you can let go of trying,
Even just for these next few moments.
Not trying to fall asleep.
Just allowing yourself to be as you are.
You are safe.
You are held.
And you are loved.
You might even repeat this on your inhale and your exhale.
On the inhale,
I am safe.
On the inhale,
I am safe.
I am safe.
I am safe.
I am safe.
I don't need to fall back asleep right away.
I don't need to perform or produce anything.
Just being here.
Breathing.
Softening.
This is enough.
My body is wise.
It knows how to restore itself.
My nervous system is resetting.
Even now.
I know that my body is wise.
My body wants to heal itself.
And when my body is ready,
Sleep will come.
Naturally.
Gently.
Effortlessly.
Dear one,
Know this.
You are not alone in the night.
The whole world is breathing beside you.
The moon is watching over you.
And you are held in the arms of the still of the night.
Trust.
Let this stillness cradle you.
Sleep will come.
You don't have to look for it.
It will find you.
May you soften into the sweetest dreams.
The deepest,
Most restorative sleep.
Good night,
Dear one.
