Use this as a guide to create space for restful sleep. Just because you're in bed doesn't mean that you've created the mental or physical space to fall asleep peacefully and easily. This meditation will guide you in a process of opening the body and releasing the mind so that restful sleep is effortless.

Hi,

My name is Jordana and I'm going to guide you into sleep tonight.

Together we're going to make space for sleep.

Now not because you have to.

Of course you have to sleep.

We all have to sleep at night in order to have the best tomorrow.

But sleep now because restoring your body and giving it the space it needs to rejuvenate from the inside to the outside is a gift.

And it's a gift that you give yourself but also to everyone you meet.

Your restfulness is a gift for your family,

For your partner,

For your co-workers,

For your friends.

Your restfulness makes your tomorrow joyous,

Easier.

You come from a place of being grounded in rest and self-care so that your decisions,

Your actions are more precise,

Are more conscious.

Take a deep breath in,

Fill up and then let the breath go slowly.

Let's take a moment to stretch the body,

Really creating the space even in the stretch.

Let your arms go overhead as you inhale.

And as you exhale you can bring the arms back down.

We'll stretch through the legs pointing the toes away from the body.

Feel the stretch in the front of the leg.

And then bring the toes towards the face,

Heels away from you,

Stretching the back of the leg.

Maybe you stretch the legs open a little bit and maybe you play footsies if there's someone in bed with you.

And now just sprawl out,

Take up some space.

Take an inhale as you do.

And exhale,

Enjoy taking up this space in your bed.

Savor this space and then come to curl up in whatever position you want to fall asleep in.

We'll create some space for the mind as well.

As you lay in this comfortable sleeping position,

Take note of your breath.

Feel your belly rising as you inhale.

Feel it emptying as you exhale.

And see if you can make your exhale just a little bit longer.

And every time you exhale longer,

See if you can enjoy that exhale maybe even 5% more than you enjoyed the last exhale.

Inhaling and exhaling,

Perhaps even imagining the sound mmmmm as you do.

Maybe there's a smile that comes to your face.

Maybe you imagine the sound ahhhh as your exhale becomes even a little bit longer.

Feeling your body create the space to sleep.

Feeling your mind melt into the space of your exhale.

You might even imagine that any thoughts that are still lingering in the mind can ride the exhale as the exhale grows longer.

Let the exhale release thoughts from the mind into the space of your slumber.

You deserve a good night's rest.

You are worthy of the space that you need to restore your body.

Your mind functions so much better,

Sharper,

More precise when you give it the space to go to sleep.

You have done so well today in all of your doing.

Here and now,

You can let go of any doing.

As you surrender to the sleepiness,

Feel as though the space for you to let go widens.

It's as if the open arms of restful sleep are waiting,

Are welcoming,

Are ready to hold you in this place.

Get extra cozy.

And let yourself drift into the sea of dreams.

Good night.
