Just letting yourself settle and become comfortable in the body.

Just letting yourself actually be here physically.

And just checking in with yourself.

Noticing your mental tone,

But not trying to change it in any way.

The state of the mind.

Noticing your emotional state.

There may be expectations of the day.

Things from your personal life.

There may be a general solid feeling.

There may be an absence of feeling.

But again,

Simply noticing and acknowledging.

And we notice how we are physically.

The state of the body.

The state of the vehicle.

If there's any pain.

Or if we're holding on to something.

And if there is anything holding on in the mind,

In the emotions.

Or there's something unknown in there.

Or there's a pain in the body.

Rather than trying to push it out of the way so that we can meditate.

Simply say hello to it.

Not pulling it towards us.

Not pushing it away.

Not making a story out of anything.

And picking it up.

But if we do,

Noticing that that has happened.

Just saying hello to whatever it is.

The entry into truth is the present.

And often we're caught in the future,

The past,

Or in stories.

So we just let ourselves acknowledge that things are as they are.

And that you are here.

And letting our attention gently come to the breath.

Physically being aware of our abdomen or chest rising and falling.

Not trying to change the breath.

But noticing that the body breathes itself.

And if you're holding on to anything breath wise.

Again just saying hello to it.

Your breath will tell you everything that you need to know about your state of presence.

Abdomen rising and falling.

Or chest rising and falling.

Aware of the space that comes before and after the breath.

And letting your breath help you settle.

Not trying to stop the mind,

Calm the mind.

Not trying to change anything emotionally.

Not trying to wish anything for the body.

Not simply settling into the place of witnessing this dynamic play.

Notice that you notice the action of the mind.

Even if you get caught up with it,

You notice its action.

Most thoughts arise in silence and simply pass away to silence.

One or two,

Those we identify with,

Identify through.

Create emotion so that we believe in them.

And you can notice this.

Just staying.

And the place that notices,

That comes before the mind.

Consciousness.

Space behind the breath.

But if you're new to meditation,

Perhaps you're simply shocked at how much content is in the mind.

How much stuff is there.

Or things come up,

Strong feelings.

People that you're not supposed to think about.

Really boring,

Stupid things.

Rather than reacting or trying to change that,

Just noticing its action.

Perhaps allowing a smile at our stuff.

Fully present.

Not trying to attain any future state.

Just here.

Now.

Simply noticing the feeling of your clothes against your skin.

Just notice the feeling of your clothes against your skin.

Not creating any story from that,

Just basic sensation.

Clothes and skin.

And notice.

How that sensation is met in the consciousness.

Before you add any label to it.

Just allowing yourself a rest in that space.

Where sense first meets consciousness.

And you may be subtly aware of the feeling of life in your body.

Or perhaps you can just feel it in one hand or foot.

Skin,

Bones,

Blood,

Muscle,

Flesh.

All made of cells.

All made of molecules.

All made of atoms.

And in that space.

Between everything.

Just the feeling of life.

And notice that you are not creating life.

Life just is.

Not struggling to concentrate.

Or forcing anything into being.

It's simply your beautiful flowering life.

From which everything you do arises.

Perhaps you can even have a sense of a space that comes before that.

Allowing yourself to recognise that space.

And that space is where life arises.

Should the mind take over.

Should anger or lust or fear.

Or story come up.

Simply returning to the feeling of life in the body.

Or the feeling of the clothes against your skin.

Or the feeling that something has come up.

Taken over.

And not trying to change it.

Your beautiful life.

And the space.

From which all things arise.

Life.

Source.

God.

Not trying to hold onto this if we're having a meeting with ourselves.

Not trying to create a spiritual experience.

Like one we had before.

Nothing to experience.

Only yourself.

The feeling of life in the body.

Perhaps maybe the mind or the emotions doesn't like this.

So you space out.

Or go away into the future or the past.

Or to your perceived idea of identity.

And again.

With love and a smile.

Just noticing.

Allowing your heart to be vulnerable with yourself.

We are so beautiful.

And we live from truth.

Regardless of anything.

That's happened.

In this timeline that you call a life.

Regardless of age.

Your status or your wealth.

Education.

Nationality.

Only this.

Where you have disdain.

Skip out.

And in the next glimpse,

I've been called a life.

Thank you so much.

John, you go beyond practitioner or instructor. You are like a wise, loving, parent. You remind me clearly and eloquently what inner me would remind me of and you bring me directly there. What a gift. Thank you deeply for it. πŸ’›
