This is a guided visualization to help you connect to your inner resources to help bring you to a state of safety, comfort, and strength. These resources can be images, phrases and people. When you have identified these recourses you can bring them to mind to strengthen these pathways and call them to mind to increase your sense of safety in your day-to-day life. So there are many ways to connect to our inner resources and we'll explore a few here.

You can let this exercise be an experiment and some of these will resonate with you and others less so.

You can just try and find and identify those which are most useful to you.

So you can begin just by allowing yourself to come into the present moment and settle down.

Letting go of any thoughts of the day,

Releasing any tension or tightness you can feel in your body and just allowing your breath to deepen and lengthen a little.

To begin,

You can bring to mind maybe a situation or a thought in your head that brings about a little bit of fear or a little bit of discomfort.

Just to allow yourself to be aware of that part of you that needs to feel supported.

And without going into full overwhelm,

You don't need to be fully immersed in this.

Just get a sense of what it needs.

And you can bring to mind a place,

A special place that makes you feel safe,

Connected.

It could be a sanctuary,

It could be a mountain,

A forest,

It could be by a lake.

It might be a place special to you.

Anywhere that helps connect you with a feeling of what you need.

Imagine yourself being there.

Envision this place in your mind's eye.

Notice colors,

Textures,

Anything that can help you connect more deeply with that place.

And then just sense into your body in this moment how that makes you feel.

And next,

You can bring to mind a person.

This could be a person that you know personally or maybe it's a figure that you feel somehow connected to.

Again,

Someone that helps you connect to a feeling of ease,

A feeling of presence.

You can imagine this person before you.

Sense them,

Imagine their face and feel their gaze upon you,

Loving and understanding gaze and presence.

Just hold them there,

Be there with them.

Now you can experiment with some words or phrases here.

Once again,

Anything that might make you feel safe or comforted.

And this phrase you can mentally whisper.

You might try a few different ones out here.

Just seeing which one helps connect you to what you're most needing.

And again,

Take a moment to sense into your body and to notice how you're feeling.

And you may just stay here with these feelings,

Just holding yourself in this space,

Connected to your resources.

And these inner resources are always available to you.

And the more you visit them,

The more these pathways are strengthened and the more available they become to you.
