Hey,
And welcome back to another episode.
My name is Joey.
I'm going to be your host.
Today,
Meditation that I'm guiding you through may cause you to move around a little bit to make some slight adjustments.
As we look on the outward view of how we take a seat,
Maybe it's finding a seat in our yoga practice at the top of the mat as we get ready to dive into physical asana,
Or maybe it's post yoga,
Sitting,
Meditation,
Taking a nolan.
This seat could also be a seat that you take as you enjoy coffee with a friend,
Sit at the desk and do some work,
Maybe even eating.
It's common for us to spend a lot of time seated.
Sometimes we don't pay attention to how we are seated,
What our body is doing.
We slouch,
We lean forward,
We kind of let go of the awareness of how we sit.
Our seat is one of the most comfortable things we take.
It's very primal,
And it should be enjoyable.
So as we begin this meditation,
I want you to sit down,
Wherever you are,
And I want you to feel your body.
For right now,
Let's take inventory of our body.
Where is the weight?
Where are we digging deeper into the ground?
Where is the lightness that's pulling away from the ground?
Maybe one side of your foot and one leg is a little more tense.
It feels like it's heavy there,
Just leave it,
Don't move.
Just take it in.
Take inventory.
Take inventory of where on your seat you may be digging into the ground.
Maybe it's on the right sit bone,
Maybe it's the left.
And then take inventory on top of the legs.
Where do you feel the weight pushing down?
Where do you feel gravity pushing into the tops of your legs?
Again,
It may be on the tense leg and the tense foot.
Now take inventory of the front side of the stomach,
Whether it's relaxed or taut.
Now take inventory of the front side of the chest.
Let it expand out to the shoulders and just take awareness of your shoulders.
Are they more pulled forward or are they already pulled back,
Opening the chest?
Let that sensation drop down to the arms.
Where is the heaviness?
Maybe one elbow is more straight,
Maybe one pinky finger is still straight.
Now take inventory of the lower backside of the body.
Maybe you feel a slight arch in the lower back.
Maybe the spine is already seated up,
Nice and tall.
Don't make any adjustments,
Just take inventory.
Now take inventory of the front of the throat,
The jaw,
The tongue inside the mouth,
The ears,
The eyes,
The eyebrows,
And the space in between the eyebrows all the way up through the forehead,
Through the scalp,
And then down and back through the back of the neck.
Take inventory of your body and observe.
If you need to pause to continue to take inventory,
You may do so at any time.
Now give yourself one more full body scan.
Do not adjust your seat.
And if the space allows you,
Stand up.
Stand tall.
Take a deep breath in,
Let it out,
Feel your feet connecting into the earth.
Now imagine how you were sitting.
As you stand tall,
What did it look like?
Where was the inventory?
Where was the observation and the awareness of where you want to go?
Take one more breath in,
Draw in that visualization,
And now replace your seat.
Allow your body to come back down.
And on your way down,
Find the adjustments,
Find the comfortable seat as you work your way down.
Take a breath here,
Take in the inventory and the awareness.
Our seat is a very powerful tool for us in our meditation,
In our work,
And in pleasure.
Again,
If the space allows you,
Stand up one more time.
Stretch the body out,
Maybe take a step forward,
And then a step back.
And then let the internal view of you seated come into mind.
As you take a deep breath in,
As you let it out,
Sit down.
Take a breath in,
Inventory your body,
Sigh it out and close your eyes.
Know that you are powerful in your seat,
That you can find stillness and calm,
That the work you put into the world is valuable,
And that whenever you need just a moment,
Come back to your seat,
Come back to your power,
Come back to your resolve.
You may continue to sit in your seat in silence.
Allow yourself space to wander,
To think,
To enjoy.
And you may move one more time.
Remember how powerful you are in your seat.
Selham and namaste.
