No TEDT The bell is invited.

So all of the techniques that we've done up until this point have required some sort of focus.

We establish a technique and have a clear focus space and apply the technique to that focus space.

And today we'll have the opportunity to see what it's like to drop that effort,

Drop that intention by exploring the technique of no technique.

Do nothing.

The cessation of effort.

Exploring the mystery of what happens when we get out of our own way.

Before we dive into that we'll begin with a few minutes of warming up with whatever technique we may have momentum with.

We've done noting and metta and working with the breath and global relaxation and there's a whole host of techniques.

Doing this first part,

Establishing your posture,

Settling in and getting into a rhythm of whatever technique will allow you to be fully here.

No matter what technique you're using,

Seeing if you can apply a sense of sensitivity.

Of energy,

Of ease,

Of playfulness.

No matter what technique you're using.

No matter what technique you're using.

No matter what technique you're using.

No matter what technique you're using.

No matter what technique you're using.

No matter what technique you're using.

No matter what technique you're using.

No matter what technique you're using.

Now having established whatever momentum you could.

We will explore this cessation of effort.

To do this the instructions are simple.

Every time you notice an intention to control your intention,

Drop that intention.

Every time there's an intention to control your attention,

Drop that intention.

You don't have to do anything else but this.

And the one exception to this that we'll establish for this practice is the posture.

We'll permit ourselves to maintain an upright and relaxed posture as that supports these three core skills of concentration,

Sensory clarity and equanimity.

There's good in the mind.

If you notice the intention to be with your breath,

Drop that intention.

If you notice the intention to establish a focused space,

Drop that intention.

In this way there's no ground for us to be supported by.

If you notice the intention to be supported by.

If you notice the intention to be supported by.

If you notice the intention to be supported by.

If you notice the intention to be supported by.

If you notice the intention to be supported by.

If you notice an intention that you can't drop,

That means you don't have to drop it.

Because we're defining an intention as something that you have total control over.

There doesn't have to be any struggle.

If there's a struggle to drop it,

Then you don't have to drop it.

In this way really seeing if you can relax into this sense of effortlessness.

Truly doing nothing.

If you notice the intention to be supported by.

If you notice the intention to be supported by.

If you notice the intention to be supported by.

If you notice the intention to be supported by.

If you notice the intention to be supported by.

If you become sleepy or tired,

That means that the practice is working perfectly.

So you don't have to change anything about it.

If you're abiding in bliss and pleasantry,

That means that the practice is working perfectly.

So you don't have to do anything to change it.

If you're distracted or agitated,

That also means that the practice is working perfectly.

You're doing this technique perfectly when you let whatever happens,

Happens.

You're doing this technique perfectly when you let whatever happens,

Happens.

You're doing this technique perfectly when you let whatever happens,

Happens.

You're doing this technique perfectly when you let whatever happens,

Happens.

You're doing this technique perfectly when you let whatever happens,

Happens.

By playing with this technique of getting out of our own way,

We're opening ourselves to the possibility of nature showing us our own natural state.

Perhaps meeting it truly for the first time.

As we wrap up this meditation,

Perhaps this practice won't be your default technique,

But I encourage you to play with what it's like to explore this spectrum of intention and control versus relinquishment and stepping back and seeing how that affects your experience.

You're doing this technique perfectly when you let whatever happens,

Happens,

Happens.

You're doing this technique perfectly when you let whatever happens,

Happens,

Happens.

You're doing this technique perfectly when you let whatever happens,

Happens,

Happens.
