Welcome and today I'm going to give you some simple rituals to embrace gratitude.

We all have various rituals that we have in a unique way of grounding us in the present and bringing clarity to all those that truly matter.

Rituals give us a sense of structure and meaning as well as intention and these are qualities that align amazingly well with having a practice of gratitude.

Bringing gratitude rituals into our daily routine is not just about adding more and more things to an already busy life,

Instead it's about finding that small meaningful moment to pause,

To reflect and to connect with those positive aspects of our lives.

And so these rituals don't need to be something big and elaborate or time consuming to have an amazing profound impact,

They just simply need to be intentional.

And just imagine if you started or ended your day,

Or both,

With a moment of gratitude.

Can you imagine how that might shift your perspective?

Even if it's a brief ritual,

It can still create an amazing ripple effect,

Setting the tone for your daily interactions,

Decisions and mindset.

Gratitude rituals help to cultivate mindfulness,

Improve emotional resilience and foster a deep appreciation for life's blessings,

Both big and small.

So let's start by looking at a morning gratitude ritual and that sets the tone for your day.

And the way you begin your day certainly influences how the rest of your day will unfold.

A simple morning gratitude ritual can ground you in positivity well before the busyness of your day takes over.

So think about this,

As you wake up tomorrow morning,

Instead of reaching for your phone straight away or rushing into the responsibilities of the day,

Just stop and take a moment to reflect on three things you are grateful for.

Just three things.

Now that's not too difficult is it?

These things can be as simple as the warmth of your bed,

Or the sunlight that is streaming through your window,

Or the excitement of something you are working on.

If you intentionally start your day with gratitude,

You then prime your mind to notice and appreciate all the good and wonderful things throughout your day.

You can also incorporate gratitude into your morning routines by having a cup of tea or a coffee to start your day and then you can use that time to reflect on people,

Opportunities or experiences that bring you joy.

You could also add to this moment with a gratitude journal that you leave by your kettle,

So you can jot down your thoughts as you sip on the drink,

Or do it as the kettle is boiling.

This act of writing reinforces those reflections and helps you internalize them as well,

As remember them.

And now let's look at what an evening gratitude ritual can do.

It's more about reflecting at night time,

And letting go.

So night rituals offer us a chance to stop and reflect on our day's experiences.

And as you prepare for the rest,

If you take a moment to focus on gratitude,

It can help you release stress and then help you to create a sense of closure for the day.

A simple ritual might only involve mentally reviewing your events of the day and noticing three moments you are thankful for.

And these could range from meaningful conversations to small victories,

And maybe even a challenge that offered you a valuable lesson.

And as with the morning ritual,

You can deepen this practice by writing these reflections in your journal.

This physical act of writing will help you solidify your thoughts and create a noticeable record of positivity that you can then revisit at any time when you need a boost.

You might also find it helpful to end your journal entry with an intention for the next day,

And something maybe like,

Tomorrow I will approach my work with patience and gratitude.

Now we can also show gratitude at mealtimes,

By having a moment of mindful appreciation.

Mealtimes are wonderful times for doing a gratitude ritual,

Because this can bring together nourishment,

Connection,

And a lovely moment to pause.

So before eating,

Take a moment to acknowledge the journey that the food on your plate has taken with the farmers who grew it,

The hands that prepared it,

And the earth's resources that made it possible.

Doing this simple reflection helps to connect to the bigger web of life,

And it also fosters a sense of appreciation for that joyful abundance in front of you.

And if you're dining with other people,

You can share one thing you are each grateful for from the day,

And this can transform your meal into a meaningful experience and open up conversations.

It's a practice that not only enhances your gratitude,

But it also deepens your connections with the friends or family around the table.

For families,

Try and make this a regular part of mealtimes.

It can help create a culture of gratitude and mindfulness in your children too.

Now this is a little example of a gratitude prayer you could use or adapt for your mealtimes,

Which helps to set the tone of appreciation and connection.

As we sit together around this table,

Let us stop and pause for a moment to think about all the things that came together to bring us this meal.

We're grateful for the farmers who grew the food,

For the people who transported,

And people who prepared it,

And the earth that provided it all for us.

It is fabulous to think about how connected we are to so many hands and efforts that made this meal possible.

Now let's take a moment to share something that we are grateful for today.

This could be a small kindness,

A happy moment,

Or just the joy of being together.

Then you can say,

I'll go first,

And you share your gratitude.

As we enjoy this meal together,

Let us carry this feeling of gratitude with us for the rest of this day,

Noticing and being grateful for all the little gifts around us.

Thank you for being here and making this moment so meaningful.

And you can do gratitude through movement.

You can incorporate it in your physical practices as another way to add this ritual to your daily life.

If you are one who enjoys physical activities,

From yoga to walking or stretching,

Adding gratitude into the movement can turn it into a powerful ritual.

As you engage in your particular activity,

Focus on the sensations in your body,

The strength,

The flexibility and resilience it provides you.

You might like to silently thank your legs for carrying you through your walk,

Or you can thank your breath for sustaining you during a yoga session.

Doing this will align gratitude with mindfulness,

And it will help you stay present and connected to your physical and emotional well-being.

So,

Something as simple as taking a gratitude walk where you intentionally observe and appreciate your surroundings can become a gorgeous,

Beautiful grounding ritual.

You will notice the beauty of the trees,

And you will feel the sun and light breeze on your skin,

Or the rhythm of your footsteps,

Letting this practice be a reminder to you of the small,

Everyday gifts that we often pass by unnoticed.

You can use visual cues and reminders to keep gratitude at the top of your mind throughout your daily life,

Throughout the hustle and bustle of daily life,

And it can make it easy to forget even the most meaningful intentions.

So use visual cues and reminders that can help set your gratitude rituals in place and keep them consistent.

You could place a sticky note with a gratitude prompt on your bathroom mirror,

Saying what are three things I'm grateful for today?

You can create a gratitude jar where you write down one thing you are grateful for each day and place it in the jar.

This is something I do.

I've been doing it for this year,

And I don't necessarily do it each day,

But definitely a few times a week.

And then at the end of the year,

I'm going to sit down with a cup of tea,

And I'll read them over,

And then might make a collage with them.

You can then watch the jar fill up,

And it becomes a visual representation of the abundance in your life.

That's very exciting.

For the tech-savvy people amongst us,

You can set a daily gratitude reminder on your phone,

Or there are gratitude apps that you can use,

And they provide you gentle prompts for you to pause and reflect.

And these cues integrate seamlessly into your routine,

Making this gratitude remains a consistent focus for you.

And that's it.

Consistency is the key.

Let's be honest,

Life can be crazy sometimes,

And finding time for gratitude may feel like just one more thing on your to-do list.

But here's the exciting part.

Gratitude rituals do not have to be perfect or complicated,

Instead,

They are about consistency,

Certainly not perfection.

You can imagine these rituals as tiny wee seeds that you plant every day,

And then over time with care and repetition,

The seeds will grow into something beautiful,

Becoming a mindset tool rooted in thankfulness and joy.

So think about brushing your teeth,

You do that every day,

Twice a day.

Not because it's thrilling,

But because it keeps you healthy,

And you know that,

It keeps your teeth healthy,

Your gums healthy.

It's something you do without even thinking about it.

And gratitude rituals can work the same way for your emotional and mental wellbeing.

Gratitude helps you to regularly pause,

Reflect and focus on the positives,

The good things in your life,

Even during stressful and busy times.

Why do you think this matters so much?

It's because the power of rituals have the ability to shift your perspective.

And this is so important when it comes to gratitude.

Instead of being overwhelmed by what is going wrong in your life,

Having a gratitude ritual gently reminds you of what is going right.

It's our daily pause to say,

I'm thankful for this moment.

And slowly but surely,

This will reshape your mindset.

Over time,

It will become second nature to see the silver linings,

Making life feel richer and more fulfilling.

And the best part,

The best part,

Is that these rituals are yours to create.

Whether it's jotting down even just one thing you were grateful for before you settled into your bed,

Or pausing to reflect during a morning coffee,

Or simply saying thank you more often throughout your day.

This is the key.

This is consistency.

Think about what small act you can add to your day that helps you focus on gratitude.

Just start simple and let those little moments of appreciation work their magic on you.

And you might be surprised by how much they can transform your outlook on life.

So now,

Think about your current routine.

Where could you naturally weave in a moment or two of gratitude?

Perhaps it will be during your morning coffee,

Or maybe as you wind down at night,

Or even while you exercise.

Remember to start small.

Choose one ritual that resonates with you.

It needs to resonate,

As that makes it easier to commit.

And then start by practicing it for a week.

Then two.

Then three.

And before you know it,

You will have a new habit,

A new ritual,

And you'll be noticing how it feels and what changes it brings to your day.

And then over time,

You can expand or adapt your rituals to fit into your life.

And then deepen your practice.

Gratitude is not about waiting for big,

Life-changing events.

It's about finding beauty,

Joy,

Awe,

And meaning in the ordinary moments.

Through simple yet profound rituals,

You can make gratitude a daily habit.

It will transform the way you experience and appreciate your life.

So,

Why not start today?
