This track is part of an album recorded by Jo-Anne Mac Millan and Noirin Rooney called "Into the Otherworld". Noirin opens up Sacred Space beautifully in the old Celtic way, by calling in indigenous and other animal spirits and all the directions to support you on your healing journey. Opening up sacred space before any healing or celebration ceremony is practised in many ancient traditions. Calling in the four directions and the accompanying spirit animals and guides from each direction honours the land and lineage where we are from. You can use this recording before any meditation or healing work that you might be doing.

Opening the Four Directions The ancients learned that all the poetry of creation is composed with the four letters of the four directions.

In biology,

We know these as AGTP,

The four base proteins that make up our DNA,

The codes of life.

Serpent,

Eagle,

Hummingbird and Jaguar.

When we connect with these forces from sacred space,

We are protected and the organizing principles of the universe respond.

This is our agreement with spirit,

When we call Spirit Answers.

Winds of the North come to us.

You bring us the winter and the element of earth.

At this time all is stripped bare so we can observe what is essential.

We remember our ancestors,

Those of our bloodline and those of our lightline.

We look to salmon to teach us of our soul's epic journey home.

Little Hummingbird to show us that all is possible and to drink deeply from the nectar of life.

To our brother Wolf to teach us how to live in community,

How to trust our own inner wildness.

Winds of the East come to us.

You bring us the springtime and the element of air.

We look to the place of the rising sun,

The place of our becoming and ask Eagle to help us fly wingtip to wingtip with spirit so that we may see with our medicine eye.

We ask Little Otter to remind us of how to play,

To live from our hearts and see the world anew as we did as children.

We ask for the blessing of the Ancient One,

The Kalyak,

She who knows that everything has its season.

Winds of the South come to us.

You bring us the summertime and the element of fire.

Fire to warm our homes,

Fire in our bellies to give us passion to follow our dreams.

We look to Serpent,

She who crawls heartbeat to heartbeat on the belly of the earth.

Help us shed our old ways of being as you shed your skin.

And bear the great Dreamer.

Give us the courage to wake up and realise that we are co-creators,

That we are dreaming our lives into being.

Let us become conscious creators and dream a new world for those yet to come.

Winds of the West come to us.

You bring us autumn and the element of water.

May we give thanks for the bounty in our lives and learn to surrender to the flow.

Jaguar,

We ask you to protect our space.

Show us how to leave no footprints in the snow,

To walk gently on the earth and when the time comes to cross the Rainbow Bridge.

Stag and Doe teach us how to walk the beauty path,

Balanced in our masculine and feminine energies,

To journey between the worlds for wisdom,

Healing and power for all beings.

Mother Earth,

We gather for the healing of your children,

The two-legged,

The four-legged,

The creepy crawlers,

The finned and the furred,

And the winged ones,

The stone people and the elementals.

We are all brothers and sisters living on your star belly.

May we be of service to you and each other.

Father Sun,

Grandmother Moon,

To the star nations,

Great spirit,

You who are known by a thousand names and you who are the unnameable one,

Thank you for bringing us together and allowing us to sing the song of life.
