Hello and welcome to the Wisdom Well.
I am your host,
Joanna,
And I will be sharing and talking about subjects that I feel really passionate about.
I love to talk about how we can take a more holistic approach to our own health and wellbeing.
I love to talk about conscious relating,
Plant medicines,
Travel,
Community,
Shamanism,
Love,
And so much more.
And no doubt more topics will rise as we move through these huge times we're going through.
I really hope you enjoy the show and I look forward to hearing your feedback.
Enjoy.
Hello,
You gorgeous humans,
And welcome to episode five,
Real Talk.
I have quite a lot to share on this episode.
It's been a huge two weeks since I put out episode four.
And so firstly,
Thank you so much for all of the feedback.
For those that have rated and reviewed on Apple podcast,
I really appreciate your feedback and your love and yeah,
Just so much gratitude.
Thank you so much.
It's been great to hear from you and to hear your thoughts and your feelings.
And when I set out to start this podcast,
I didn't really think it was going to be a weekly thing.
I decided to not put any pressure on it and just to see how things flow.
And the other first month it just kind of went out weekly.
And this time it was a big two weeks because that episode was pretty big for those that listened.
And I'd like to talk a little bit about that before I move on to this particular episode.
So yeah,
Just so much gratitude for having the conversation with Adam.
And I've actually listened back a few times and yeah,
It kind of wasn't much of a conversation and more me interviewing him which doesn't feel that good on reflection.
And I considered actually just removing it and doing a new episode four,
Which would be this one.
But I decided that people seem to be getting something from it.
So I'm just going to leave it there for now.
And yeah,
Just trust the process.
It was a big thing for us both to do.
And we had some people reflecting back to us and sharing their thoughts and feelings.
And yeah,
It's been a big part of our journey.
And now as our romantic relationship comes to a close,
I wanted to share a little bit more about what's been going on these last couple of weeks.
It was a huge kind of an integration that needed to happen after that I put that episode out just energetically needed to replenish and go in and I've been dealing with a lot of burnout.
So came off social media and have just been replenishing and nurturing myself.
So I will come back to that.
One of the first things that I wanted to talk about was imposter syndrome as I'm sure a lot of us have dealt with this at various points in our lives.
And when I released episode four,
It was huge.
It came in with a vengeance and that voice was like,
Who do you think you are?
Having a conscious conversation.
Do you really think anyone is going to want to hear this?
Wow,
You've been so vulnerable.
Have you been too vulnerable?
Are you sharing too much?
What about the sacredness of this?
All the things were rearing their ugly heads and the imposter syndrome was real.
It went on for days and I just had to sit with that and just let it wash over me and trust that Adam and I had chosen to do that for a good reason,
Whatever that is.
And I know that some of you have got quite a lot from listening,
But yeah,
I even want to do it all again,
But differently actually having listened to it back,
But it was what it was in the moment.
And so here we are,
Let's be present.
But yeah,
The imposter syndrome can be really harsh and really strong.
And what I'm learning to do with it is to allow it and just observe the thoughts that come and the feelings that come with that.
And just keep coming back to a deep trust and knowing in myself that all is happening at the perfect time.
If you find yourself with imposter syndrome and it's holding you back from moving forwards or creating something that you really want to create,
Then just know that that's what it is.
It's not your true self.
It's not your deep heart's longings and truth.
It's just the mind playing tricks,
That monkey mind that likes to come in and create stories and cause a little bit of havoc basically.
So just be aware of the thoughts and be aware of the feelings that come with those and just allow them to be there,
Be a witness to them because the more we try to resist them,
The stronger they become.
So sit with them and maybe you can journal,
Scream,
Shout,
Cry,
Whatever you need to do to let any unwanted emotions out,
Let's say.
Yeah,
I find there's many different tools that we can use to move through the things that are coming up.
And rather than distracting yourself,
Oneself with social media,
TV,
Alcohol,
Sugar,
All these things that we are very easily drawn to when things feel uncomfortable,
I would invite you to really sit with them,
Meditate with them and journal them out.
It's a very cathartic process and will help you clear through rather than those energies getting stuck in the body.
So yeah,
I just wanted to voice that because it was really strong for me a couple of weeks ago.
And there you go,
There's my vulnerable share for the day,
Imposter syndrome.
Yeah,
It's a big one.
Love to hear your thoughts.
And burnout,
Next burnout has been a huge theme this year for me personally,
And I'm sure for a lot of others as well.
The last 18 months have been quite a process and with everything that's going on in the world,
It's definitely for me personally,
Put me into a place of burnout and moving more from a place of fear rather than trust.
That was up until recently,
Feeling the collective energies of what's happening and what we've been in,
Which has been thrown us all out of our comfort zone.
It's been very transformational and you can't really escape it because it's global.
It's like we're all in this together,
Which I have found comfort in knowing that I'm not alone in this journey whilst also being on my own individual path.
Yeah,
And it's been a lot for us all to be in relationships,
To maybe be changing jobs,
To be moving homes.
I know quite a lot of people that have left the safety and the comfort of one place and gone to another.
And yeah,
There's been big,
Big changes all around.
And so what's happened to me personally this year has been some work not flowing,
Things not aligning in some areas and some work coming in,
Not being able to do some of my in-person work.
And yeah,
It's been hard because I love doing my work when it's all flowing and happening and I've been able to.
So I had to really sit with myself for more than I care to because there's time with self and then there's also time needed with others.
And the balance was a bit off,
I think,
Way too much time of me.
And I want to share and I want to do my work and that feels fulfilling and good to me.
And this year for me was that I was perhaps doing,
Looking at things from a different angle than what I was used to and actually what it led to was me being burnt out.
And I came back to the UK,
Spent a few weeks visiting family and friends and a couple of weeks of work in London.
And then that just kind of finished me off really.
So I was very lucky that I could come back to my mom's house and have a safe haven to just decompress and switch all the technology off,
Turn all the calls off and all the distractions and just rest and rest and rest.
And yeah,
For the first week,
It was a real full body fatigue and burnout where your whole body just aches and it was a lot of grief and sadness and energy moving and if anyone has had burnout,
You know what I mean.
I mean,
It can go on for weeks,
Months,
Years,
If we don't tend to those needs that we have at the time,
We kind of have been taught to just keep going and going and going no matter what,
But it's just not the way that we've been designed and we need to replenish and we need rest and we need to know when to say no,
Which I'm not that good at,
But I'm getting better.
And yeah,
Burnout has felt really real for me this year on different occasions and I think I haven't fully allowed myself to fully get better and decompress because I can be a bit of a Duracell bunny and I can just keep going and going and going and going and then I'll burn out and then I'll do the same again,
Go,
Go,
Go,
Go burnout.
And that's just my cycle and my pattern,
But I'm trying to realign that I'm doing my best to not do that cycle anymore and know when I need rest and know when I need to replenish my energy and have more balance.
And so that when I am showing up to do my work,
I'm full power and I'm ready and I have all of my energy in it rather than half of it or a quarter of it or complete depletion.
So I'm sure some of you can relate to burnout.
And if you find yourself in this place,
I have some tips because I've been learning a lot and what I have found to be very helpful in this area is to spend way,
Way,
Way,
Way,
Way less time on technology.
So turn as much technology off as possible,
Spend a lot of time in nature.
I spent some days just laying flat down on the earth in the grass and just replenishing.
Mother nature was really looking after me and it's amazing how much we can get from her.
And yeah,
Just reconnecting to nature and the elements,
Eating very grounding,
Nourishing foods like Ayurvedic foods.
I've actually been working with a friend of mine who is an Ayurvedic practitioner.
She's really helped me to rebalance my system with Ayurvedic foods and herbs and spices and supplements and that's really helped as well.
Because burnout,
You really want to be grounding and nourishing your body.
So lots of self-care,
Lots of baths and self-massage and just really looking after yourself.
Yeah,
It's really,
Really important to take time out and I find getting up and doing really nice slow practices like yin and long deep breaths like good meditations and journaling and just being slow basically.
Slow everything down,
Do as little as possible and if you can really carve out the space to do that.
Because if you're burnt out,
Really you cannot do anything as some of you may know.
And I got to that point.
I can't show up for my work.
I can't show up for my friends or anyone.
I just have to show up for myself.
And as someone whose work is in service and in the healing world,
I obviously teach energy work and it's always been hard for me to replenish and look after myself and give to myself more than give to others.
But it's a huge lesson that I'm still learning and yeah,
I'm sure some of you can resonate with that more giving to self and it's not selfish,
It's self-love.
Because if we're not looking after ourselves,
Then how can we expect anyone else to?
That's really important.
So yes,
Looking after yourselves when you have burnout,
It's happening more and more easily in these times because I feel that there's an undercurrent of stress and fear that's still running with everything that we're going through and we're burning out more easily.
There's a lot more light infiltrating the earth and the energies that are coming through are very strong and so we're more sensitive and susceptible to burnout.
So that is just the way it is.
So if any of you feel that you're running into that,
Then I hope some of what I've suggested helps.
I'm no expert,
But I just thought I would put that out there and that's why I haven't recorded a podcast for a couple of weeks and why I'm just taking some time out.
And yeah,
So just wanted to share that.
And something else that I've been feeling is this real deep calling for home and roots and grounding.
And I feel like a lot of people that I know,
Especially those that are living in places like Bali,
Copenhagen,
Ibiza,
These very powerful small islands,
They're like vortexes.
They're like portals of their own and anyone that lives on them will know.
I feel like these are incredibly beautiful,
Healing,
Magical islands and they're also very potent and powerful and can be very intense having been there for more than a few years.
So what I'm getting to is that I feel there's a lot of light workers on these islands and they've been doing a lot of deep work and they are now being called to leave these islands and spread their wings in other places and also go to where this work is really needed.
I think it's something that's been coming through for me this year is this feeling of my work isn't needed on this island anymore.
I need to go and share it in other places where there's more people that would benefit from the work.
And I see it in my friends in these places.
They're now being called like homing pigeons back to the land that they're from in most cases or somewhere that feels like home.
And it's like this year is just shifting everyone and everything.
It's big,
It's really big.
And so if you are living abroad and listening to this and feel a deep calling to be closer to your motherland,
Then yeah,
I feel that for you.
And I'm doing exactly the same.
I've been called to be in England and I'm being guided to stay here for longer and root down and yeah,
Just spend time with this land and it feels strong and it feels necessary.
And I don't know where it's going.
I don't know where I'm heading,
But I know that it's good.
And I promise it won't be boring.
I'm just listening to the guidance that I'm receiving,
You know,
Listening to that inner compass that's gently,
Strongly guiding me.
And so yeah,
Listening to your inner compass,
Like what is your heart really guiding you to?
Where is it guiding you?
Who is it guiding you to spend time with?
These are the things that we have typically become very disconnected from.
We have so much distraction these days.
Like I mentioned before,
The sugar,
The alcohol,
The social media,
The TV,
All this stuff is distraction from just being with ourselves and deeply listening to what it is that we need.
It's so easy for us to be distracted.
And so that often means that we don't even really know what we want or what we're being guided to.
So,
You know,
Really start listening to that inner compass,
Like go in,
Like spend time with yourself,
The nature,
The meditation,
Like all of these practices are great for us kind of clearing the way and shedding light on what's not working,
What is,
Where do I want to shift things?
Where am I shifting to?
You know,
All of us are going through huge transformations now that it's just the time that we're in.
This is normal.
If you're feeling that you have days where there's just huge amounts of sadness and grief moving through you and other days where you feel really elated and full of ecstasy,
This is really normal from my side anyway.
That's what I'm feeling and witnessing.
And,
You know,
A lot of us are grieving our old lives and what's been and on the same breath,
We're also feeling that high ecstasy and joy of all this new light and what's coming because there is beauty on the other side.
And at the moment,
We're just in that really uncomfortable transformational phase,
Like between one end and the beginning that's coming.
You know,
That part in the middle is just the void and being in the void is yucky and it doesn't feel good and it's uncomfortable.
And there is a grieving process that comes with that.
So if you've been feeling any of these things,
You're not alone.
And I just want to say that I've been kind of in and out of that process all year.
And I do feel like I'm kind of completing a bit of a cycle and making some decisions about what's coming,
But I have definitely been in a bit of a void.
And yeah,
So it's about how do we make that void comfortable?
And I think it's about,
Yeah,
Just deeply listening to what you need in every moment and honoring it.
You know,
That deep sovereignty in being yourself and being true to you without being influenced by others or just showing up and being the people pleaser and doing it for somebody else.
No,
This is a time,
This time we're in now is really about being sovereign,
Honoring yourself and your needs and really standing strong in that place.
And the other word that's been coming up for the last couple of months for me is freedom.
And many of my friends that I speak to are feeling the same,
Like this deep need for freedom.
And I'm sure that the last 18 months has just made us feel that even more so.
Like I just want to be free.
Like I don't want to have the constraints of anything,
Any threads or ties attached to me at all.
I just want to be free.
I just want to be able to do what I want to do.
And that in itself is a process of getting to that point of being and feeling free.
So yeah,
Sovereignty,
Freedom and listening to that inner compass within yourself,
That inner voice and letting your true self shine through.
And yeah,
I'm just throwing things out there.
This is a bit of a random rambling really,
But it was just the few things that have been dropping in in the last few days.
So I thought,
You know what?
I'm just going to turn on the mic and see what comes out.
And here we are.
So yeah,
If any of this resonates,
Please let me know.

I'm 69 and aging feels like burnout. The trouble with this is if one takes too much time nurturing the ' aging symptoms of burnout' they will fall further into it. Hmmmm So the challenge is to find all the ways to nurture the symptoms of life's burnout and yet keep battling back the aging takeover. Your sweet talks breathe light into this battleground for me.
