Hello and welcome to Joanna Furtado therapy,
Inviting acceptance of what is.
It might be one of those days where you're feeling off or sad,
Perhaps lonely or confused,
Or you're just struggling.
A lot of us are living on the edge right now and feeling everything that's all the chaos and destruction that's happening in the world and it gets to us.
You know,
As much as we may try to block social media and avoid things,
It infiltrates,
It comes in and it's hard to not feel affected by it.
It's hard to feel inspired by life right now.
And where I am here in Toronto,
Canada in February,
It's a very gray and rainy day and I'm just feeling kind of blah.
But I'm going to practice a little bit of self-acceptance and a little bit of sitting with what I'm feeling and just showing up for myself.
I'm not asking myself to shift and be happier or more positive.
I'm just going to become a loving,
Comforting hand that holds whatever I'm feeling.
And so I invite you to find a comfortable place and a comfortable position.
Allow yourself to take some slow,
Deep breaths as you start to move away from that which is external.
And as you come inward,
Come inward towards your internal sense of self,
Towards your embodied experience.
Inhaling and exhaling.
Can you expand the breath?
Can you breathe into all the spaces of your body?
Can that be your only goal to just breathe,
To just be in this moment,
To slow down and to come into true connection with yourself?
As I slow down and become aware of what sensations exist in my body,
I notice a heaviness in my heart.
And so I'm going to take my hand to rest gently upon my chest and maybe one at my belly so that my spirit can know that there is an energy here for that heaviness.
It's just a loving hand that says,
I see you,
I hear you,
I feel you,
And I'm here.
And so as I acknowledge this heaviness in my heart,
It gets a little stronger.
It's almost as though it's allowed to feel.
It knows there is loving acceptance here.
There's an unconditional hand that's here that allows me to feel my feelings.
I don't need to push them down or alter them for someone else.
They can really be here.
I can breathe into them.
I can allow.
It's kind of like that old saying,
The only way out is through.
So I become aware of two experiences here,
The experience of some pain in my heart and the experience of a loving energy that sits with that,
An unconditionally accepting,
Holding and supporting energy.
And there's nothing that I need to do,
But just be with in a loving way.
It feels so good to take a little time to acknowledge and to allow what I'm feeling to flow.
And as I quiet down and sit with this feeling,
I just like to become aware of anything that this part might need to hear from my wisest or more centered part.
So I'll invite you just to notice if there's anything that this part of you needs to hear right now.
What I'm getting is just that it makes sense that you feel this way.
So I'm feeling the need for validation of my feelings and I'm breathing that message in and inviting it just to land in my heart.
You make sense.
I understand why you're here.
It's okay that you're here and I'm going to hold you and be with you.
You're not alone.
And so I hope that this practice today has given you just a little bit of space to come away from any external forces and just to come into a space of peace and come away from any external forces and just to come into connection with what's going on inside in a way that is totally accepting of what is.
Thank you for practicing with me today.
Be well and go knowing your inner goodness.
