Feeling unworthy often connects to deep shame and trauma, eclipsing good feelings and any sense of accomplishment. It's almost as if nothing can touch it. Allow this meditation to embrace you unconditionally, affirm your worth, and offer refuge from this burden of unworthiness. To know that you are deeply worthy is to heal. The song is Opening Up by Master Minded.

Welcome to this shared space where we meditate on the idea of worthiness,

Something we often feel we need to earn,

By doing,

Performing,

To somehow be enough,

And yet often this feels elusive.

And I want to tell you something that I believe about you,

And that is you are deeply,

Deeply worthy.

There is nothing you need to do to make this true,

It just is.

So as you settle into a natural breath that feels right to you,

Just notice what comes up when I say this simple truth,

A truth that may be different than what you've been taught.

Just allow your body to feel the sensations,

And your mind to offer its thoughts.

Now I invite you to imagine a container,

And gather up anything that doesn't feel good in it,

Could be judgements you have towards yourself,

Negative emotions,

Memories that are painful,

Just see if you can lovingly put them all in your container just for the duration of this practice.

Now see how that feels,

We're not extinguishing them,

They can come back,

We're just asking them for a little space,

For a new experience,

And take a nice sigh,

And see if you can feel the benefit of that space,

Of this idea that you are worthy just as you are,

And if you can feel that benefit,

Now see if you can savor that benefit,

And that space,

And if you can't,

That's okay,

We'll just notice that as well,

And if all of this is feeling not possible for you,

That's okay too,

All of your experience is welcome here,

All of you is welcome here,

And if you can,

Now imagine who you would be if you believed you are deeply worthy,

What might others see in you,

How would you show up in your life if you believed this,

And what might you do that hasn't felt possible before,

See if you can picture this just in your mind's eye,

All of the possibilities,

In feelings,

In thoughts,

In who you are,

And just taking it a little further,

If you can,

And if you can't,

That's okay too,

But if you can,

Let's have you think about what might you feel in your life from this place of worthiness,

From this new knowing,

New truth,

What would be the quality of your feeling throughout your day,

How might your relationships change,

What might your problems look like from this place,

And we're just kind of zooming out to take a look at this possibility,

And again,

If you can't,

That's okay,

This is just an imaginative exercise,

And sometimes we're just planting seeds,

Even if it doesn't feel possible now,

And now as you kind of zoom back in to your life,

And kind of come back to the space that you're in,

I hope that you can carry this thread with you,

Into your day,

Or into your night,

And may you live from this worthy,

Worthy place,

And know that it's true.

So much love to you,

And my fellow travelers,

Take the greatest care.

When Jessi suggested that I put my anxiety in the jar, my brain “poo-poo-ed” the idea: “ahh, that’ll never work” it exclaimed. But I did it anyway because it had declared meditation was “phoo-phoo” — just a bunch of people smoking weed and getting high. After less than a year of daily exercises, I found that notion to be nonsense. So I tossed my anxiety in the jar. It came with the fear that my best times were not only behind me but i hadn’t really appreciated them when they had occurred. So my sadness about that went in too. Then I took a breath, and was amazed that I could readily take a breath. With anxiety, those of us who experience it, know that breathing isn’t always easy. I was surprised when it was so easy and clear. I just wanted to say that this meditation worked. Not only did I feel better. But I can still breathe clearly, easily, and still feel that I haven’t lost anything, that my worries are still in the jar. I loved the fact that Jessi didn’t tell us to take them out of jar; since the jar is in our mind, stays with us but this way doesn’t poison other areas of our lives. Brilliant!! Kudos to you. Blessings to all! Warmly, Anne
