This is a recording of a live Yoga Nidra session on Insight Timer on the 1st February 2026. To celebrate the Celtic festival of Imbolc and the full moon, the practice includes visualisations of moonlight illuminating the body, breath awareness, focusing on the beginning of the inhalation, visualisation of springtime images, and a visualisation to rest into the energy of the early morning at the beginning of the spring. There is time to allow yourself to dream of potential for the months to come, and to make an intention for what you wish to invite into your life. Image by Valeria Boltneva

Okay so make sure that you're comfortable now and just see what your body needs right now to be as comfortable as you can possibly be.

So any final adjustments or any small movements that you need to make and see if you can make your body so comfortable that you might even be able to forget that your body's there as you rest.

And just feel into the feeling of your body connecting with the surface beneath you.

And feel into all of the meeting points between your body and the surface that you're resting on.

And notice how with every exhalation your body becomes more relaxed.

Your body sinks a little bit more deeply into that surface.

You feel every exhalation drawing away any tension from the body,

Carrying away any thoughts,

Any worries,

Any concerns from the day that are not going to serve your practice.

And now bring the awareness into the nose.

Watch the flow of the air entering and leaving the nose.

Feel the feeling of the air on the insides of the nostrils.

And then move to the ears and feel the sensation of the air on the insides of the ears.

And with the awareness inside the ears,

Just notice any sounds that are present in your environment.

Just allow the awareness to jump from sound to sound.

And know that none of the sounds are going to disturb you.

They can only help to enhance your experience.

If you have an intention for your practice today,

Just bring that intention into your awareness now.

Whatever inspired you to show up and to practice yoga nidra.

Perhaps to make a space for new beginnings.

To make an intention for the future.

And perhaps to connect to the air and to the season.

Perhaps for deep rest,

For healing,

For meditation.

Whatever your reason for practicing today,

Just bring that into your awareness now.

Take a moment to acknowledge it.

If you have a sankalpa,

Take a moment now to recall your sankalpa.

Your heart's prayer or vows.

Allow it to arise naturally.

However it comes for you today.

And if you don't have one,

Just bring the awareness to the heart.

Rest the awareness into the heart center.

Now see yourself sitting outside in a beautiful,

Natural,

Peaceful environment at night time.

Your full moon is glowing in the sky above you.

Just become aware of your surrounding.

Many plants,

Many animals.

Invite anything into your environment that helps you to feel safe,

Peaceful and secure.

Look up to the silver full moon glowing in the night sky.

Welcome the silver moonlight.

It shines down onto your body.

Illuminating your body.

Welcome the silver moonlight to the eyebrow center.

Feel the eyebrow center illuminated by silver moonlight.

And the throat.

Silver moonlight illuminating the throat.

Welcome the moonlight onto the right shoulder.

The right elbow.

The right wrist.

The tip of the right hand thumb.

The tip of the right index finger.

The tip of the right middle finger.

The tip of the ring finger.

The tip of the little finger.

The right wrist.

The right elbow.

The right shoulder.

The throat.

The left shoulder.

The left elbow.

The left wrist.

The tip of the left hand thumb.

The tip of the left index finger.

The tip of the left middle finger.

The tip of the ring finger.

The tip of the little finger.

The left wrist.

The left elbow.

The left shoulder.

The throat.

The center of the chest.

Silver moonlight illuminating the center of the chest.

The left side of the chest.

The center of the chest.

The right side of the chest.

The center of the chest.

The navel.

The lower abdomen.

The right hip.

The right knee.

The right ankle.

The right big toe.

Second toe.

Third toe.

Fourth toe.

Fifth toe.

The right ankle.

The right ankle.

The right knee.

The right hip.

The lower abdomen.

The left hip.

The left knee.

The left ankle.

The left big toe.

Second toe.

Fourth toe.

Fifth toe.

The right ankle.

The left ankle.

The left hip.

The lower abdomen.

The navel.

The center of the chest.

The throat.

The eyebrow center.

The top of the head.

Silver moonlight illuminates the top of the head.

And the whole of the body.

Welcome this silver moonlight onto the whole of the body.

Bring the awareness to the breath.

Observe the gentle rising and falling of the chest.

As the breath flows in and out.

Bring the awareness to the beginning of the inhalation.

To the very first moment when the breath starts to enter the body.

Keep the awareness at the beginning of the inhalation.

Allow the rest of the breath to happen very naturally.

Just watch that point where each inhalation begins.

Now move the awareness to the eyebrow center.

With the awareness at the eyebrow center.

I'm going to name some different things.

Allow an impression of each one to arise as its name.

Begin with the morning sunrise.

A dew drop on a leaf.

A snow drop.

Spring daffodils.

A lamp.

A flickering candle.

A small patch of blue sky amongst gray clouds.

A snowflake.

A trickling stream.

The full moon in starry night sky.

Snow melting in the morning sunlight.

And now see yourself in a beautiful place in nature.

At night time,

In the early spring time.

The silver moonlight shines down and illuminates the environment around you in silver.

Notice any trees or plants.

Any birds or animals.

And the moon very slowly drifts down the sky.

The first signs of morning sunlight begin to appear.

As the light shines in,

Brightens your environment.

You rest at the time that is no longer night time,

But not yet daytime.

You see in front of you there are three snowdrops.

Sitting beside the three snowdrops.

You quietly place a wish,

An intention for the months to come.

You send your intention into the snowdrops.

To blossom with the snowdrops.

Feeling the first rays of morning sunlight surrounding you,

Illuminating your environment.

You close your eyes and you enter into a meditation.

Resting into the very beginning of the day.

The very beginning of the springtime.

And now allow your mind to just dream of the months that lie ahead.

Allow any impressions,

Any intentions to gently float into your awareness.

Without forcing anything.

Without thinking about anything too much.

Give your mind permission to be open to any potentials.

To any possibilities.

To dream with complete freedom.

And if you do have an intention for the coming month.

Something specific that you would like to invite into your life.

For the springtime.

For the months that lie ahead.

And bring that intention into your awareness now.

And just take a moment to acknowledge it.

And if you have a sankalpa,

Recall your sankalpa again.

Your heart's deep prayer for that.

And if you don't have a sankalpa,

Just bring the awareness to the heart center.

And rest at the heart center.

And now very slowly begin to turn the awareness back outwards.

And become aware of any sounds that are present in your environment.

And just allow the awareness to move from sound to sound.

And just acknowledging that they're there.

Feel into the feeling of your body resting into the surface beneath you.

And the feeling of the breath flowing in and out.

Watch the expansion and contraction of the chest as you breathe.

And start to make some small movements to awaken your body.

Moving the fingers and the toes.

And the ankles and the wrists.

And when you feel ready,

Give yourself a stretch in any way that feels good for you.

So taking your time.

There is no need to rush.

When you're sure that you're feeling wide awake again,

Slowly blink the eyes back open to complete the practice.
