Find a comfortable position,
Either sitting upright or lying down.
Begin by connecting to your breath.
Breathing in your first deep breath,
Inhale gently and slowly through the nose,
Holding at the top of the breath,
And exhale slowly through the nose.
Do this a few times with your own breath flow,
Connecting to body through the breath,
Noticing the coolness of the inhale and the warmth of the exhale.
Give yourself permission to be completely in your body.
If the mind begins to wander,
Gently bring yourself back to the breath with no judgment,
Like waves coming in and out of an ocean.
We'll begin by setting an intention.
It could be as simple as,
Today I intend to be happy,
Or today I intend to forgive others and myself.
Setting an intention is powerful and helps us create more clarity and focus for the day,
Kind of like drawing a map of where you wish to go.
Take a moment to choose something that has meaning for you,
Silently repeating your intention a few times.
Gratitude allows us to create ripple effects of appreciation that floods the body and leaves you more aware of all the amazingness in your life.
Just like a pebble tossed in a calm lake,
The ripples of gratitude flow outward into every aspect of your life.
Repeat after me,
Silently or out loud.
I am grateful for the clean air I breathe.
I am grateful for my family and friends.
I am grateful for the opportunity to grow.
Now take a moment to think of three things you are grateful for,
Silently saying them to yourself.
As you silently repeat these moments of gratitude,
Connect with these feelings,
Allowing them to fill you up with happiness and contentment.
Like gratitude,
Affirmations ripple outward.
Repeat these affirmations after me,
Silently or out loud as you say them.
Allow yourself to really feel the feeling behind them with no limitations.
Think big.
Today is a day of happiness and peace.
I will approach the day with consciousness,
Ease,
And grace.
I focus my highest good in everything I do.
I will nourish my mind,
Body,
And soul.
I am responsible for my energy.
I am worthy.
Think of an affirmation that will empower you today and silently repeat it to yourself.
Now I want you to visualize how you would like your day to go.
It's important that you connect to the feeling behind it,
Using all your senses.
For example,
If I visualize a stress-free commute to work,
I am visualizing how it actually feels in my body.
Maybe I see the beauty of the sunrise or other commuters making their own way with calmness and ease.
You might even smell your favorite coffee or tea.
Take a moment to see your day and remember to allow yourself to feel all the sensations and emotions.
The important thing is to really feel those feelings in your being and let it permeate throughout the body.
Now you are ready to take on the day,
Whether it's the start of your morning or your restart to the morning.
You got this.
Remember that you are not your thoughts.
You are the observer and you get to choose what thoughts you hold on to.
You are worthy of being happy and whole.
Remember your intention that you set for yourself at the beginning of practice,
Taking that with you throughout your day and week,
Tapping into that peace and clarity that you created for yourself at any time.
It's always within.
