Be held in deep support, experiencing the wisdom of heaviness and the dance of gravity as an effective way to invite the body into rest, and transition into sleep. During this short practice, lie down and free attention from external demands - feel your breath fill, swirl and empty into eyes, heart, belly, joint spaces, bones, and beyond. You can use this practice any time of day or night.

Transcript

Declare that you are welcoming a cocoon of deep healing sleep.

And know that sleep does not represent total unconsciousness.

There are waves that ebb and flow in sleep,

And you can trust in those waves.

Do not fight them.

Welcome your body just as it is,

With the same kind of love and presence you might offer a best friend or a very wise teacher.

Set yourself free to simply be.

No thinking.

Just sensing and feeling.

Feel the shape of the body shift as you breathe.

The volume and density of the body,

Fully supported,

Held.

Body being received with each exhale.

Feeling the shape and the pulse of the body shift,

One breath at a time.

Allowing your exhale to feel into soft jaws,

Shoulders,

Hands,

Belly.

Welcoming ease and well-being,

One breath at a time.

No thinking.

Breathe into the space behind and around the eyes.

Feel the breath swirling like a little whirlpool of sensation,

Bathing the globes of the eyes.

Feel the eyes and eyelids heavy,

Falling back and down.

Eyeballs floating on the breath.

Now feel the breath touch the heart.

Each breath a little massage for the heart and the space around the heart.

And drop down into the belly brain.

Feel the breath soak into the belly.

Belly massaged by inhale and exhale.

Full of ease.

Continuing to spread presence and attention through the physical body.

As you do this,

It's almost like you become your own acupuncturist.

Capable of impacting the free flow of healthy energy in these vital pathways and intersections.

Remember,

You don't have to think about this.

Give up thinking.

Just sensing and feeling.

Feel presence soak into scalp.

Skin of the forehead.

Temples.

Sensation of right eyelid.

Right eyeball.

Right eye socket.

Whole right eye.

Sensation of left eyelid.

Left eyeball.

Left eye socket.

Whole left eye.

Both eyes together.

Eyes heavy.

Releasing pressure.

Supported.

Feeling nose.

Cheeks.

Ears.

Chin.

Mouth.

Whole face sensation.

At ease.

No thinking.

Sensation of neck.

Shoulders.

Upper arms.

Elbows.

Lower arms.

Wrists.

Sensation of hands.

Fingertips.

Heavy arms.

Heavy hands.

Welcoming gravity.

Arms and hands releasing pressure.

Full of ease.

Whole torso sensation.

Whole back side of torso.

Whole front side.

Whole spine.

Heavy torso.

Sensation in hip sockets.

Legs.

Knees.

Ankles.

Heels.

Feet.

Toe tips.

Heavy legs.

Legs supported.

Whole body supported.

Whole body heavy.

Sensing and feeling your way.

Sense and feel into your bones.

Feel the bones being breathed.

Sensation of bones in the toes.

Feet bones.

Leg bones.

Bones of pelvis.

Spine.

Arm bones.

Bones in hands.

Neck.

Face.

Head.

Bones bobbing up and down like driftwood.

Carried by the breath.

Bones becoming lighter.

As muscles release.

You are supported.

Safe to let go.

Joint spaces filling and emptying.

One breath at a time.

Breathing into your bones.

Let attention go in all directions at once.

Everywhere and nowhere at once.

Peace.

Deep well-being.

This meditation, like all of Jennifer’s meditations, is incredible and is received like spiritual poetry that lulls you into the deepest and most serene sense of relaxation. At night they get me to sleep like nothing else, and if used during the day, I emerge from the meditation feeling revitalised, re-centred, and less burdened by the strivings of the mind.

Jennifer’s voice, cadence and vocabulary are divine. It’s just her voice. No music or sound effects needed as she guides each part of your body to relax from head to toe. If you haven’t tried yoga nidra - this is a sign that you should! I love that the practice requires you to do nothing more than lie down and it’s scientifically proven to be equivalent to 4hrs sleep in 20 minutes. This is my #1 favorite meditation! I recommend it to friends, coworkers, and clients. Basically anyone who mentions they can’t sleep or want to get off devices and build a nighttime routine. It’s a must if you’re wired and can’t sleep or wake up in the middle of the night staring at the ceiling. Jennifer will guide you to drift off and wake up deeply rested. Enjoy.
