All right.
So today I'm,
I'm really excited to talk to you about something that is very much a passion of mine.
Um,
And it has also been my medicine,
The medicine for my soul.
And I'm really passionate about teaching it because,
Um,
Intuitive leadership is something that I discovered along my path of,
Um,
A lot of suffering,
A lot of feeling like I was broken and I couldn't fit in anywhere in this very traditional left brain world.
And,
Um,
I'm really excited and honored to be teaching this now.
Um,
So today we're going to be talking about saying yes to your next,
Yes.
Uh,
Trusting your gut,
Taking the leap and stepping into the transformation and expansion that you were created for.
So I really believe that whatever our intuition is leading us towards is directly in line with part of our purpose here on earth.
Why we are here.
Why,
Why were we sent with our particular gifts and our particular challenges and how are we meant to help the world evolve and create impact and also help our own soul evolve?
So I have a very spiritual,
Um,
Perspective around this,
And then also a very practical perspective around this,
And I'm going to be sharing a little bit of both today.
Um,
Come on.
All right.
So I'm going to share to begin a helpful mantra.
Um,
This is something that came through me that I channeled over a decade ago when I was actually a yoga teacher,
Because that is how I started as an entrepreneur,
Uh,
And then became a yoga therapist and then business coach.
And then all of it just kind of unraveled into what I do today.
So the actions that you're not willing to take or the decisions you're not willing to make are the ones that will change your life.
This has been the story of my life.
And it has been what has helped me understand my intuition and why it was leading me in certain directions,
Particularly to things that were often uncomfortable or things that I,
That I was resisting.
So when I used to teach yoga,
I used to always tell my students,
The pose that you hate the most,
That makes you the most angry is actually the pose that you most need,
Because it is bringing some sort of balance in you that is moving you through some sort of growth and,
And that is not going to always feel really comfortable.
And so when people ask me,
Like,
How do I know if I'm supposed to do this or is it intuition or is not intuition,
You know,
We often look at like,
What is the thing that you haven't tried that yet that you are resisting and that feels scary and uncomfortable,
Uncomfortable,
That could potentially actually change your life and move you in the,
In the direction that you really want to go.
Um,
So I just want to start us off with that,
Um,
To set the stage for the rest of what we're going to talk about.
Um,
And I still know today that when I'm feeling frustrated and spiraling in the same directions,
I like to call it spiraling down,
Um,
I know that there's something that I need to do that I'm probably really resisting to do.
And usually that thing,
If I actually just do it,
It ends up spiraling me back up in,
Uh,
In,
In a sense of flow and,
And feeling a lot better in my life or business,
Because I do a little bit of both,
So here is where your intuition is going to lead you most often.
And I'm hoping that you guys are going to recognize yourself in some of these today.
Um,
So your intuition is always going to lead you towards growth,
Which is why it is always really,
Uh,
Scary and uncomfortable and a little bit daunting to say yes to our yes,
Or to do the thing that we are feeling intuitively led to do.
So the growth is going to feel uncomfortable until it feels normal again.
Um,
There's a story I love to share,
Um,
By Todd Henry,
One of my favorite authors,
Um,
His book is called louder than words.
And he talks about how essentially the only way to move into our next level of growth or next level of mastery,
Um,
Outside of what we already know and who we already are,
We need to be ready to be temporarily mediocre.
And that is when we feel uncomfortable,
Right?
Because we're stepping into something new.
We're stepping into a version of ourselves that we have never been,
That we are becoming.
And so while we do that,
We're going to feel mediocre for a little while.
And at some point that's going to become our new level of mastery,
Our new level of comfort zone until we're led into our next level of growth.
So it's really,
It's really important to know that feeling uncomfortable is not.
It is not any indication that you shouldn't do the thing that your intuition is leading you towards.
Uh,
Your intuition is also going to lead you to more alignment always.
Like this has been my experience.
Um,
And,
And anyone who I've ever worked with in,
In helping them step into their next level of growth,
Whether it's personal or business,
Um,
And,
And it's going to feel awkward until it begins to feel like flow again.
So if you've ever gone to,
Um,
A chiropractor or even a massage therapist or some sort of osteo treatment,
While they're working on an area of your body that is out of alignment,
Particularly chiropractic that this is where I've experienced it the most while they're trying to align your body again,
It's on,
It feels awkward.
It's like,
Oh,
It feels like that rib is going to pop out or something is not feeling quite right.
And then it pops back into place.
And then there's like this relief.
And then we feel flow again.
We feel good again.
You know,
The fluids are moving through us and everything is in alignment.
Um,
One of a really good example that I love to use for this.
And this has been my personal example,
Cause I'm a recovering overgiver and overdoer and just like letting my heart overflow on everybody and everything before taking care of myself.
Um,
It's when I had to start switching,
Like,
Okay,
Maybe,
Maybe I can first honor my gifts and what I'm doing and charge or what I'm doing before just over giving to everybody that felt so awkward at the beginning.
Right.
But when I started to do that,
Things came into alignment more.
And then I had so much more to give after I was working from a place of overflow instead of being left,
Like on the,
On the gas light for myself and having nothing left for myself.
And this is like for all kinds of things in life,
But essentially when you are,
When your intuition is leading you to more alignment in your life,
It's going to feel a little bit awkward until it feels like flow again,
Your intuition.
And in my experience always leads you to leads you to some sort of healing,
Because when you're,
When you're moving through growth,
You usually have to release something that is no longer serving you in order to step into the new version of you or your life that you are becoming and,
And healing feels painful until it feels liberating.
Uh,
And it's just part of the process.
Um,
One of the examples I like to talk about,
Um,
For this part is in 2019,
I had a massive nervous breakdown.
I landed in a very abusive relationship that essentially broke me,
Um,
Into a million pieces and it took me two years to heal from that experience.
Um,
And the healing of the,
Why I landed there and what my intuition,
Like my intuition is essentially in a way led me into that relationship so that I could finally heal something that I had been carrying from my past.
So that relationship was my past trauma amplified,
Right?
So I chose that again,
Because I needed to still heal something that was making me continually make those choices.
And so the healing was really painful.
It was,
It was painful to be with that.
It was painful to look at it.
It was painful to admit all of the things that I had chosen,
Um,
Out of,
You know,
Trauma responses.
But once we do the healing,
We are so liberated and freed in so many ways.
And our intuition leads us to transformation.
It is inevitable.
Um,
And that transformation can feel really scary until it then feels expansive.
It is the caterpillar to butterfly process.
You might've heard this,
Um,
Many times before,
But essentially when the caterpillar goes into the cocoon,
There is a moment in the cocoon where it essentially just turns to mush and it literally thinks that it is dying.
Um,
And then,
You know,
It transforms into the butterfly and then it expands and then it can fly and it's this beautiful thing that comes to life.
And so this is what our intuition is leading us towards sometimes in very tiny ways and sometimes in bigger ways.
And one of the really big myths that I want to sort of break down today with us is that all good things are always supposed to feel good.
That is a huge misunderstanding because.
Feeling good is often what comes after we move through the growth and healing and transformation that brings to more alignment.
And this is a whole other topic that I could unpack and it's going to be,
Um,
Part of the expanded version of my book.
Say yes here.
Yes.
Is when to say no to our no.
Right.
And when to differentiate like a no in our body when it's like,
Hell no,
This doesn't feel good and a scary and uncomfortable feeling in our body that is just coming from growth that we're stepping into,
But it's not because it feels uncomfortable or awkward or painful or scary,
That it means that you're not going in the right direction.
It probably actually means that you are stepping into something absolutely incredible that is going to expand your life in ways that you could have never imagined before.
All right.
Okay.
This thing is not wanting to hang on a second.
All right.
Um,
Another thing that is really important to remember when we are thinking of leading our life or our business intuitively is that this journey is not linear at all.
Um,
Everything ends up blending into this beautiful masterpiece.
If you're willing to just trust the process,
Right?
So in my book,
I talk a lot about the left brain and the right brain.
Um,
In relation to the nervous system,
But essentially the left brain is functions in a linear way,
Right?
It's logic.
It wants to know exactly where it's going.
Um,
And the right brain is where we play more with intuition,
Creativity,
Imagination.
And what I like to see as infinite potential,
Whereas the left brain is,
Uh,
Limited potential because it's only what we know and what we've already experienced.
So it's normal with that.
When you're following your intuition,
Trusting your gut,
Taking those leaps that it's not going to feel like a,
B,
C,
D,
E and continuing.
It might feel like a C going back to a,
Again,
Going to L and just like this back and forth.
Um,
And that is the creative process.
Essentially leading your life or business intuitively is very similar to the creative process.
And so you can expect it to be linear.
Cause if you,
If you try to make this,
This linear,
You're going to be really,
Um,
Functioning more in the limited potential of your left brain.
Not bashing the left brain.
I talk about it a lot in my book.
We love it.
It's beautiful.
We just need to know when to use the left brain and when to use the right brain.
At the right time and for the right reasons.
Okay.
So I want to read you guys.
Um,
This is not my book.
I often refer other books cause I,
I devour books.
Um,
I read several every month and often many at the same time.
And I read this,
Um,
This week and it felt so relevant to what we're talking about today.
It's from the pivot year by Brianna Weist.
I think her last name is said.
Um,
And it says,
Instead of trying to figure out whether or not something is definitely right for you,
Just notice what creates resonance or dissonance.
Essentially what feels aligned?
What doesn't feel aligned?
Ask yourself if it makes your body gently contract or expand,
Ask yourself if it gives at least as much energy as it takes,
Ask yourself if it intrigues you,
Fascinates you,
Compels you.
Ask what is there to be found.
Ask where walking this past path might lead.
Pay attention to your body's most subtle responses,
The way you'd lately open up or close yourself to the experience and tally up the smallest coincidences.
Let yourself be guided in the quietest ways.
So I talk a lot about how intuition speaks to us through our bodies.
It's a very embodied experience.
Some of us feel things.
Some of us hear things.
Some of us see things,
Visions in our waking moments in our sleep.
Um,
But it definitely moves through our body to speak to us.
So the mindset that often keeps us stuck is I need the carrot.
I need the guarantee of feeling safe to trust the path ahead that my intuition is leading me towards.
And that's a very left brain way of leading your life.
And it's,
And that's the linear way.
The mindset that creates flow and gets you unstuck and moves you in the direction that you are meant to go is I will first create safety within me.
So that I can step through the discomfort of this path ahead or the scariness of this path ahead.
And that for me is more of the right brain leadership that,
Um,
I like to teach and that I believe in,
And that is the non-linear journey.
And so in my book,
I talk a lot about,
Like I said,
The nervous system and the brain,
And so the thing you're going to have to do might be really scary and uncomfortable,
And if you first take care of your nervous system and do what you need to do to activate your relaxation response so that you can step into this new experience and this expansion and growth,
You're going to be moving forward on your intuitive path in a non-reckless way.
So a lot of people have a feeling that like saying yes to their,
Yes equals being reckless.
It's not reckless if you're doing it from a place of inner calm.
So one of the things we teach a lot in yoga is the eye of the storm or the eye of the hurricane.
So in the middle of a hurricane,
There's this central space where everything is completely calm and quiet.
And so that's where you want to reconnect on a daily basis so that you are nurturing a calm nervous system.
When,
When you go do the thing,
You're going to activate a little bit of the stress response and that's,
And that's normal and it's healthy.
It's okay to have a little bit of adrenaline,
But you don't want to be full pin adrenaline moving forward on this intuitive path because then it can become reckless and then you can burn out and it can be exhausting.
And so it's really important to take care of yourself first.
So that is where we start leading from the inside out,
Nurturing a calm internal environment so that we can then go out and take our big leaps and start our businesses and write the books and go speak on stage and do all of these things that our intuition is leading us to do,
And that is why I just,
I find that,
You know,
The nervous system and the brain are such intricate,
Powerful and fascinating systems that are really important for us to learn about because it gives us the power.
It reminds,
It empowers us to then walk down our path that is ours and only ours to walk down.
So what I want to leave you with today is essentially the thing that I believe that we all need to do in order to lead our lives and businesses intuitively.
And that is we need to trust our gut before we are ready.
We want to feel ready before we do the thing.
And that's normal.
That is our left brain.
It's our ego wanting to keep us safe so that we don't go off and do something crazy.
And I really believe that your intuition is never going to lead you to anything that is reckless.
It is only going to lead you to embodying more of the potential that is inside of you.
It's going to lead you only more to the impact and the,
And the beautiful gifts and the magic that you are meant to share with the world.
And is only going to lead you to creating the impact that only you can make in this world that is going to help elevate the world that we are living in and create even better experiences for the generations ahead of us.
And so I really feel like it is our ultimate responsibility to trust and listen to our intuition because it leads to so many beautiful things,
Not only for ourselves,
But for everyone else that is in our orbit and our community as well around us.
Um,
And if you think about so many incredible people who would not exist today,
If they had not listened to their intuition,
Like Oprah,
Let's just think of Oprah,
If she would have not trusted her gut and done those things that she was led to,
We would not have Oprah today in our lives.
And it is the same thing for all of us.
Why do you think it is so important to lead yourself,
Your life,
And your business intuitively,
And you can feel free to share that.
