Hello,
This is Jennifer.
Thank you for sitting with me.
This guided meditation is helpful to listen to if something is coming up and you know you're going to have to be brave.
This practice will give your nervous system just the nudge it needs to remind yourself that you can do this and will be one more piece,
One more tool in your resilience toolkit.
So shift around a bit and allow yourself to get just a little bit more comfortable.
Get any of your little wiggles out and notice if there's just one thing you could do to release some tension wherever you might be holding it.
Perhaps you give your shoulders a roll forward and back.
Move your head from left to right slowly.
Sort of shake off any extra energy as you check in with your body and find some stillness sitting here.
Relax the muscles of your face,
Your jaw.
Gently release any tension around your eyes or your forehead.
Space between your eyebrows.
And if you haven't done so already,
Gently close down your eyes as you settle in.
We're going to take a few nice,
Slow,
Deep breaths in and out.
And as you breathe in,
Notice where you feel your breath as it comes in.
And notice where you feel it as you breathe out.
Tracking your breath as it goes in and noticing it as it flows out.
Watching your breath settling into this present moment.
And on your next exhale,
Feel the weight of your body as it settles.
Imagining the floor and the earth beneath you supporting you.
And from this nice and grounded place,
I'd like you to think of a time when you were called to be brave.
Recreate the scene.
Who was there?
What do you see?
And let that memory come to life in your mind's eye.
You being brave.
You being courageous.
You doing that thing.
And can you remember,
Or better yet,
Can you feel in your brain and can you remember,
Or better yet,
Can you feel in your body what you were feeling as you realized this was a moment where you are going to have to be brave?
Notice where that feeling lives.
Perhaps it's a tightness in your chest or a flutter in your stomach or a tingling sensation.
Just simply observe the sensations.
There's nothing you need to do to change them.
You are safe right here.
Now,
I'd like you to see if you could bring in some gratitude.
Maybe that feels like a big switcheroo,
But I'd like you to say thank you.
Thank you to life for putting hard things in your path.
You wouldn't be sitting here today without them.
And each challenge,
Each call to be brave,
Each time you are courageous,
Each of those instances has been its own teacher.
So can you listen for what this moment of bravery,
This bit of teaching wants you to know now?
What does this moment of courage that you've already experienced want you to know now?
Getting through hard things allows us to do even harder things.
It's like building a muscle.
Courage is cumulative.
Every brave choice,
No matter how small,
Builds upon the last.
So allow yourself to rest in a feeling of being thankful for the courage you already have inside of you.
And when you're ready,
Begin to bring some gentle movement back into your body.
Wiggle your toes and fingers and have a stretch.
Reach your arms up towards the sky.
Maybe roll your neck again,
Slowly.
And then,
As you're ready,
Reach your arms up towards the sky.
Maybe roll your neck again,
Slowly and mindfully.
And bring a gentle smile to your face.
And let it reach up to your eyes as you slowly open them and return to the present moment with this renewed strength.
You've done hard things before,
And you can do hard things again.
Even those people who make it look like it's easy or they have it all together have been right where you are now.
You are in fine company.
Giving you a virtual high five as you move on to rock this thing,
Whatever it is.
Trust yourself.
You've got this.
Wishing you well.
