Hi everyone.
Welcome to this beautiful meditation that is for peace,
Inner and outer.
I want to start by quoting Dr.
Martin Luther King who said,
We are all caught up in an inescapable network of mutuality,
Tied in a single garment of identity.
Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly.
And we can think of this in terms of our practice and the work that we do on ourselves and the work that we share with others.
All the good that we share,
Peaceful messages that we share.
So that's what we're going to focus on today.
Take a moment now to get comfortable.
Close your eyes and sit tall.
Just begin to focus on the breath.
Focus on the body,
Its gentle natural rhythms.
Focus on this moment right here,
Right now.
And as you sit here,
Feel entirely supported by the earth,
By the ground beneath you.
You may even tune into the support of all those who are meditating right now.
All those who are seeking equilibrium,
Who are seeking peace.
Breathe and connect to the feeling,
The sensation of peace,
Inner peace,
A harmony within.
While we cannot control what happens outside of ourselves,
We can better understand how to give ourselves compassion,
Love,
And spread this through our actions and presence.
This inescapable network of mutuality that Dr.
King speaks of.
It means that the way we treat ourselves is the way that we treat others.
The love and compassion we give ourselves is the love and compassion we can give to others.
As you sit here,
Feel your body filling with love,
With compassion.
Feel the very center of your heart growing stronger,
More connected.
Sending yourself love,
Allowing any critical thoughts to come up and washing them with love and compassion.
Trusting that by doing so you can better offer this to others.
I'd like you to imagine that your heart,
The heart energy,
Is growing stronger as you sit here,
Bathing yourself in love,
Compassion,
Self-acceptance,
Genuine forgiveness.
And now I'd like you to imagine that you can radiate this love out into the world.
Send it to someone that you know and you love dearly.
Someone maybe that you know is going through a difficult time.
You are full of love,
Compassion,
Forgiveness,
And send all of this to that person.
Will them to feel better.
Will them to be kinder to themselves,
Easier on themselves,
More loving to themselves.
Now bring to mind someone with whom you've had a more difficult relationship with.
Even someone you don't know who you don't understand why they think or do the things they do.
And remembering that you are full of love,
You are full of compassion,
Connecting to your heart.
Will them the right to feel good about themselves,
To heal what needs to heal,
To feel love toward themselves so that they can offer it to others.
Send them compassion,
Love,
Wish them joy.
Now from your heart,
From this place of pure love and compassion,
Imagine all those who are hurting or in pain,
Known or unknown,
And just hold them in your heart and send them love.
Just radiate it out.
You have an internal supply of love.
Allow it to flow through your heart and out into the world.
Imagine them finding ease from their pains.
Imagine them finding joy.
Imagine them feeling the love that you are sending them.
That your love,
Your compassion is now filling them up.
Imagine you can send these feelings to the entire world.
Wishing this web of humanity to be uplifted,
To be infused with love,
Compassion for self and each other.
And just send out this energy from where you are right now and trust that your intention and trust that this time and focus is offering the world a little bit more love.
Now come back to the breath.
Come back to the body and bring your hands to your heart and feel that heartbeat.
Just send yourself love.
Fill yourself up.
Believe that there can be peace.
If there can be peace within,
There can be peace in the world.
Now when you're ready,
Gently release the hands down.
Blink the eyes open.
Take in the world.
Allow a gentle smile to cross your face.
I invite you to practice again and again connecting with this heart energy so that you can offer it to others.
I wish you all good things.
Thank you for practicing with me.
