Sometimes your body is so tired but your mind just won't quit.

So I've designed this guided audio for you if you find yourself lying in bed wanting desperately to sleep but your mind is buzzing and it's very very difficult to become relaxed enough to let the tiredness take you so that you can actually sleep.

This happens a lot,

It happens to many many people,

Don't feel alone,

Don't feel like there's anything wrong,

It's part of how we live modern life.

So the first thing that I would like to suggest to you is that you get yourself really really comfortable and you also bring two fingers,

The first two fingers of your dominant hand to your collarbone and my invitation to you is to begin to tap and I want you to just keep tapping as you're listening to me until the tapping begins to reduce in frequency and maybe in pressure until it feels natural for you to just stop and maybe just rest your hand on your heart space.

The point of the tapping is to mimic the speed and the pace of the thoughts and the activity in your forebrain.

So we're translating what the internal observation is and we're bringing it into the physical.

The next thing that I'd like for you to do is to bring some awareness towards the back of your brain and the back of your body.

So if the back of your body is in contact with the bed,

Perfect,

Bring some awareness to the plane of contact between the back of your body and the bed.

So it's neither one nor the other but it's the plane of contact in between.

Feel where your weight is the heaviest,

Feel where the weight is distributed or how it's distributed better said and then bring all of your attention towards the back of your brain in the back of your head.

As you do this you might begin to notice that it becomes clearer that there is a space between you and everything happening in your forebrain.

So lots of activity,

There might be visuals,

There might be sound but as you reside in the back you can begin to notice that there is a space between you and that which you're observing and in that space is your breath.

So now drop your attention onto the track of your breath.

Notice where the inhalation reaches within your body and notice the exhalation.

Just again notice the detail,

So the pace of the breath,

The depth of the breath and don't make anything wrong.

So just accept everything you find exactly as it is and as you do that see if you can allow gravity to have more of you and what that will feel like is a sense of heaviness within your bones.

So your body begins to become heavier,

Your weight becomes able to settle and the quality of the breath might change.

It might be imperceptible or you might notice it.

Either way is good.

So as you've let gravity have you and you felt this sense of heaviness can you now bring into your whole body a sensation of lightness.

As you're doing this notice the tapping.

Has it stopped?

Is your hand at rest?

Has the tapping continued?

Has it changed pace?

Is it time to rest the hand?

Notice how clever your mind is and how it can focus on so many different things all at once.

Where do you feel the sensation of lightness in your body?

On the exhalation can you bring yourself back to heaviness?

On the inhalation can you connect with lightness?

Exhale weightiness.

Inhale lightness.

Exhale heavier.

Inhale lighter.
