Intention Setting Reset
by Jemima House
This was originally recorded at Winter Solstice. I love this still point of the year. The reset itself works at any time. There are 7 powerful questions included that will provide clarity for your next inspired actions. This medium length meditation takes about 20 minutes.

Welcome to your solstice session.
I'm Jemima,
The Connection Coach,
And I'm here to bring you into a space of connection with yourself and into deep alignment with your true nature.
And I am going to leave you with some incredibly effective questions for your reflection.
But first of all,
We are going to come into the body.
So I would love for you to find a comfortable seat,
Or even lay down wherever you are,
And begin to notice your breath.
So we don't try and change anything,
Literally just noticing,
How is my breath?
And then come into an awareness of your body.
Notice which parts of your body move as you breathe,
As you inhale,
And as you exhale.
And notice if there is surplus activity in the mind.
Now I say surplus because I am referring to things that you can do nothing about,
And that do not concern this present moment.
Often we will have some kind of commentary,
Or some kind of activity of that sort running in our minds.
If you find that that is the case for you,
I'd like you to take the first two fingers of your dominant hand,
Find your opposite collarbone,
And just start tapping to the frequency of your thoughts.
Whether you call it overthinking,
Whether you just call it busy mind,
I want you to just tap,
And all this does is just remind you that you are in a body,
In the present moment,
Right now.
And as you tap,
You are affecting your own body.
Notice your breath,
Notice if you're holding your breath,
And make an agreement with yourself to be so present just for the duration of this meditation.
And as you do that,
You might find that there is a shift internally.
Sometimes we need to be really,
Really clear with ourselves about what is wanted,
In order to notice if that is actually not what's going on right now.
So for instance,
If you give yourself the clear instruction,
I want to feel relaxed,
You'll begin to notice all the places where you do not feel relaxed.
So invitation to instruct yourself,
In your mind,
About how you would like to come to this session.
How do you want to show up for this session?
In yoga,
We often set a sankalpa at the beginning of our practice,
Which is like an intention.
And you can do that,
You can just let one arise naturally.
Or if you already know,
Then you can state that in your mind silently.
And just be open to whatever wants to be shown to you during this session.
Breathe out,
And breathe in.
Now we are still under the energy of the solstice,
Which reminds us that balance is super important.
So balance equals health in universal terms.
And at this point,
Where everything stops for about three days,
We are reminded in the Northern Hemisphere,
Yes,
It's the longest night.
And by Christmas Day,
The day is incrementally longer than it was on the 20th,
21st,
Should I say.
Exhale.
So as we reflect nature,
And reflect the movement of the planets,
It's the perfect time for us to come to a pause.
And you might find,
Especially with all of the Christmas celebrations,
That the run up to that,
You become very susceptible to illness,
To exhaustion,
Because actually,
This is the perfect time for deep inner reflection,
For deep,
Deep rest.
And when we make that our priority,
When we make an agreement with ourselves to come into that deep rest,
The path ahead becomes clear.
So no longer do we need to sit and try and figure things out.
Just by becoming still and resting,
We start to feel nourished and topped up,
And the natural next step,
The next inspired action makes itself known.
If you don't believe me,
Try this.
Honestly,
I would never speak on something that I had not experienced directly.
And this is one of those things.
Creating the conditions for our success,
For our health,
For our thriving,
Is our responsibility.
And this is what we're doing here.
So take a breath in,
And exhale.
Allow every single muscle in your body to just do whatever it wants to do.
So that includes all the tiny muscles of your face,
Your neck,
Your shoulders,
Around your ribs,
Your arms,
Your hands,
Your fingers,
Your whole torso,
Your hips,
Your pelvis,
Your pelvic floor,
Your legs,
Your heels,
Your feet,
All of your toes,
The soles of your feet.
Allow them all to rest and relax.
And just to soften.
When you create the container for yourself,
You start to understand safety.
And without safety,
The body can't relax.
So just really excel at luxuriating in this safe space that you have created.
Breathe out.
Notice the awareness of being in a body,
Alive,
Wherever you are,
In whatever room you're in,
Breathing whatever air you're breathing.
Knowing that your heart is beating and that you have the gift of being here.
Which it's impossible for us to remember that all the time.
Otherwise,
We wouldn't get anything done,
Because everything would seem banal.
But moments like this,
That's a really important awareness,
To remember the gift of actually being here,
Of being alive.
It's really something.
Now I want to pose some of these questions for you while you're in this bodily relaxed state and open-minded state of appreciation and awareness.
And you can just let these questions soak in.
Generally,
I tend to trust the first answer that bubbles up from my subconscious.
And you can always re-listen to this recording and go over the questions.
You could write them down if you wanted.
So your first question is,
Am I on the path of my choosing?
As a human being with agency,
Able to decide,
Are you on the path of your choosing?
Question number two.
Is this a life I would be proud to relate to my grandchildren?
Now,
If any feelings come up with these questions,
Allow them some space.
Just let them be there.
And just go with them.
Let them inform you.
Question number three.
Am I still happy?
Am I still happy?
Question number four.
Who am I being?
Question five.
What lies am I telling myself that I could consider letting go of?
Notice if any judgment comes up with these questions.
Just allow it to be there.
If there is discomfort,
Allow that to be there.
If it feels quite neutral,
Allow that too.
Question number six.
What desires could I release to the universe because I can't make them happen without divine intervention?
Question seven.
The final question of this session.
What are my intentions?
Note that you can't get the answers wrong,
And only you will know the answers to these questions,
And you don't have to answer them now.
Just let them seep into your awareness.
And just let yourself be with the questions.
It might be a useful exercise to take pen and paper to bed tonight,
And on waking,
See if you have had any aha moments,
Or if anything has come to you.
While your subconscious sorts and sifts in your slumber,
Sometimes this is where some of the most valuable information arises.
Bring your energy back into the center of your body,
Just below your belly button,
And just soften around that space.
In yoga,
We call it the hara.
Exhale,
And then inhale,
And begin to move your fingers and toes.
Maybe you can move your head gently from side to side.
Just start to bring some life,
Some aliveness,
Back into your body,
And to know that you are,
In fact,
A living being,
Which sounds a little silly to say,
But really good to remember.
As my dad would say,
You're the right side of the grass.
So,
I really,
Really wish for you that these questions give you some illumination on your path,
And that your next right actions are highlighted for you,
And they feel full of ease and joy.
And I am wishing you such a beautiful solstice few days,
And may your roll back into the light feel wonderful.
Thank you.
