Hi,

This is Sharon Bosworth,

Teaching folks to find a patch of calm in this crazy world.

I would like to talk to you for a minute about positive thinking.

Research shows that positive thinking has benefits for both your mental and physical health.

It increases your life span,

Reduces stress,

Strengthens your immune system,

And improves your heart health.

Wow,

All that by just being more positive?

But what does being more positive mean?

A positive attitude doesn't mean that everything is rainbows and unicorns,

And that you are happy all the time.

Life happens,

And some days are really hard,

Even some weeks.

Yet,

If you can keep an attitude of,

I can get through this,

And everything is going to be okay,

That's what you need.

Add in a little bit more focus on what could go right instead of wrong,

And your stress will definitely decrease.

So let's begin our practice that will help us focus on the positive.

First,

We're going to take three deep breaths to help us unwind.

We will breathe through our nose,

If possible,

And out through your mouth.

Inhale as deep as you can,

Hold for a second,

And then release through your lips as if you're blowing out a candle.

Let's begin.

Now return to your normal breath.

Begin to think of a relaxing place.

Perhaps it's a chilly day.

A gentle,

Cool breeze is blowing across your skin,

And you hear the rustling of the leaves in the trees.

You snuggle up in your favorite soft blanket to keep warm as you watch the flickering flames of a fire.

You listen to the cracks and the pops of the wood as it burns,

And watch the smoke glazily drift off into the sky.

Now that you're settled,

Let's begin our affirmations.

You can repeat after me out loud or in your mind,

Whichever makes you happy.

Today,

I will focus on what's good.

Today,

I will choose peace over worry.

I am grateful for today.

Today,

I choose to see the good in myself and others.

Every day,

I am worthy of love and respect.

Today,

I will strive for joy,

Not perfection.

I look forward to today and all the opportunities that await.

I am optimistic because today is a new day.

Today,

I will smile.

Today,

I got this.

Now go and enjoy your day.

Keep in mind that you choose how you view everything.

In many situations,

There are two sides,

So be on the lookout for the happier one.

It will probably improve your life.
