This small though mighty meditation came to me as something I would like to share. It invites us into a healthy space of awareness and gratitude of our spiritual ancestry. We get to take moments to see, feel, grow awareness of the lineage that has provided us with wisdom and love in all of its forms thus growing and strengthening our own roots and appreciating the roots of all wisdom teachings as each of us awaken to the collective harmony that can exist between us all.

Welcome,

This meditation is designed to connect us to our spiritual ancestry and to grow gratitude and appreciation for that lineage.

And so to start,

Let's get comfortable,

Find ourselves in a comfortable position,

Whether it's laying down or sitting up,

Maybe it's turning off the lights or finding a cozy blanket to snuggle into,

Whatever it is,

We find a way to get comfortable.

And then we will think of just one,

For this go around you can repeat this meditation many times but for now just think of one spiritual ancestry,

One spiritual ancestor that comes to mind.

And so give yourself a little time.

If you're a yogi,

Maybe it's one of the people that have taught you yoga or one of the original ancestors of yoga.

If you're into Zen Buddhist meditation,

Maybe it's Thich Nhat Hanh.

If you're into shamanism,

Maybe it's Dakota Walker.

Take a moment and figure out which lineage is coming to you,

Which person,

Or which being,

It could be Buddha,

It could be Christ,

It could be a number of any other beings.

Anyone that you connect to that gives you that sense of wisdom.

So what we're going to do now is take a moment to settle in and really feel your connection to this beautiful planet,

To this earth.

So anything that is touching the ground or a chair,

A bed,

Something solid,

Feel the connection,

Just feel the connection.

This will help ground us and expand us later on.

And as we connect in,

We bring that one person to mind.

As we bring that one person to mind,

We can also allow our bodies and our minds to open and we can start to recall memories of the ways this person has impacted our lives for the better.

And so a really great way to do that is to take the mind's awareness and bring it directly to the heart while we're thinking of this person.

And we can think of all the beneficial stories and events in our lives that this person impacted in some way.

Maybe they allowed us to be seen when we were not.

Maybe they allowed us to see ourselves when we could not.

Maybe they spoke words from our heart that we were unable to quite say out loud,

Setting us more free.

Maybe they gave us clarity,

Direction,

Or guidance that has turned out truthful.

In some way,

This person has created a foundation of trust.

And let's stay in that for a little bit and think of all those moments as we grow our appreciation and awareness in more definition.

And as we do that,

Maybe we can sense the amount of effort and work and time that person may have put in to their own spiritual development and really feeling the gratitude.

And as we do that,

Maybe we can even begin to sense that beyond just this one person,

They were influenced by many other people and nature,

And we can sense the sense of expansion from one spiritual ancestor to many spiritual ancestors,

Back in time and even through the current day.

As we expand our awareness and our appreciation to the lineage that we come from or that we are working with in this moment,

We just offer our gratitude in seeing the beneficial impacts that each person has contributed to our own life and how we're all connected through that wisdom tradition and spending time connecting to that with appreciation.

Let's take a few breaths in that.

Maybe we can start to feel a sense of softening in our bodies,

Of the love and appreciation flowing around us,

As we tap into that spiritual energy of people that we brought into our lives purposefully,

That have given us life and support and acted as a pillar in our life.

Sometimes as we do this,

We can also bring up a sense of humility,

Of,

Wow,

There's so many people out there that have worked so hard and put so much effort into learning and to sharing,

And I've been the beneficiary of it,

And it's a very warm feeling of gratitude and humility mixed in together,

And appreciation for the way humanity can also help us.

So,

Show up so beautifully for each other,

And again,

Focus the mind's eye and attention onto the heart space as we continue to broaden our appreciation and our understanding of the effort it took for this person and these people in this lineage to come into our lives and to support us in the way it is.

And oftentimes this may bring up an eagerness to continue forward looking for all the beautiful signs and symbols and ways that this spiritual lineage shows up in our life currently,

And the way we practice it,

And show our reverence.

And so if it comes to mind,

Perhaps there's a gesture that you could work into in the next week to show that appreciation,

To demonstrate it in action.

Continuing to feel it right now,

Just in our bubble of awareness,

Of gratitude,

And the depth of the ancestral lineage from person to person and through time.

And now with that sense of gratitude,

And perhaps an idea of how we can show that gratitude out in an actionable step,

We can come back to ourselves,

We can take a deep breath,

We can move our hands and our feet,

And remember that we're here now,

That that gratitude can move forward and can flow forward in our day and in the days ahead.

And may I wish all you beings listening to this just a beautiful,

Beautiful day,

A beautiful future,

And a deeper appreciation for all that we get to have in this life.
