Thriving with food is not just about food. You might have heard it's simply 'calories in calories out'. That would be leaving a lot of your potential on your plate (pun intended). The journey is personal and nuanced. Listen in to find out more.

Hello,

It's Jane,

And this track is Three Uncommon Ways to Thrive with Food.

So,

The first way is,

See it as an adventure.

Because so many times people want to make changes with regards to food and eating,

And they come at it like it's gonna be a fight and a struggle.

And I say,

See it as an adventure.

Going in with that approach will open up many good things,

Possibilities,

Insights,

And unexpected results,

And takes the pressure off your beautiful body.

Because your body is not a machine,

It's a living,

It's a living,

Breathing organism.

It also feels good,

Light,

Curious.

It's a great approach for all parts of our lives,

Actually.

The second way is to eat in total alignment.

That is,

Choose what you are eating,

Whether it's chocolate cake or crunchy salad,

Because that way you are taking responsibility for your feedback.

When we resist,

We don't feel or see what we need to feel and see,

And often start moving away from the very things we are wanting to experience,

Which means our actions are taking us away from the experience and desired results that we're wanting.

When we resist what we're doing,

We pretend,

We just don't acknowledge that,

We don't take responsibility,

So I'm just gonna pretend.

It's like,

You're still eating it.

You're still eating it.

And that's fine.

You get to choose that.

And when we take responsibility and we see what we're doing,

We can then connect the dots of what we're doing and what we're having,

And then we can change if we want to.

The third way is be interested in real food.

It's only what your body has been designed to eat,

After all,

And you'll feel so much more confident knowing that you can better recognize your feedback that you're getting as you eat,

Because your body recognizes what you're eating as food.

So there's a lovely synergy going on.

When we don't eat real food,

Then we confuse the body,

And we are giving it mixed messages,

And we get mixed signals back.

So for example,

With real food,

When you're eating truly real food that's right for your body,

It's actually harder to overeat it.

You might eat to fullness,

But it's really hard to just keep going.

But with stuff that's not real food,

That's very highly processed,

Even synthetic,

You can keep eating and you don't feel full,

And you can really overeat,

And it doesn't feel like it because you don't feel nourished,

You're not getting the nutrients,

And you don't feel full because there's no fiber,

There's just no true substance to it.

And then that again takes you off track because you can't get the proper feedback to make good choices.

It's not that your body is broken per se,

Or that you are broken,

It's simply that we are giving ourselves poor information.

When we eat highly processed food,

It's poor information for our body,

So it can't really work with us as we would like it to.

And when we eat real food,

It also helps us to stop eating simply from our heads.

This is healthy,

This is unhealthy,

Because our intellect is separate from our body,

But our body gives its own feedback,

So using the head to overrule everything doesn't help.

We don't get the signals that we need.

Instead,

Eat the real food and see if it is healthy for you or unhealthy for you.

So I hope you've enjoyed those explanations,

And as you can see,

They are uncommon,

Because it's not normally what you'd be taught if you were looking to develop a new way of eating,

Or you wanted to nourish and nurture your body and just have it really fulfill its potential.

But it's really important.

And as you can see,

I haven't even been prescriptive at all.

It's actually stuff that when you think about it and reflect on it,

It's stuff that when you reflect on it and when you practice it,

You can see the truth of it.

Again,

I'm always saying check your experience.

So I hope you've enjoyed this talk,

And I hope that you go and thrive with food.

Thank you so much for listening.

Journey well.
