Settling in to yourself,
Settling in to your seat,
This meditation will be around 10 minutes long,
Designed to give you more space,
To show you where the space is coming from,
Or to uncover the essential space of your being.
So begin by observing stillness in the body.
When you observe stillness,
You allow stillness to enter the body.
And from stillness you can see what is still moving.
What is still moving is the natural fluctuation of the respiratory system.
So from stillness,
Become aware of your breathing naturally,
Coming in and coming out,
Rising and falling.
From this vantage point,
Even the movement of the breath arises from and recedes into this same stillness.
And you can begin to become aware the fluctuation of this stillness with the expansion and contraction of the respiration,
Moving into a quality of spaciousness.
It is as if the stillness of the body-mind takes on a three-dimensional quality.
And feel into your experience to find where you end and this spacious quality begins.
And with this inquiry you can come to know the space inside of yourself is equal to the space outside of yourself.
You cannot hold it,
You cannot pick it up.
It doesn't have a shape or a color or any definition.
If you try to look for the definition of this spacious quality you will find there is no edge.
With no edge or circumference,
The center point is lost.
So from the aspect of the spacious quality of awareness,
Where is the center or the point that awareness is aware of that space?
It is not a riddle,
It is an invitation to rest in open spaciousness.
The awareness of space is the same as the space of awareness.
It is like opening the window,
Opening the window,
The space inside of the room is just like the space outside of the room.
And when we take away the window,
All that is left is the same space unaffected by the walls of the room.
This spacious quality is synonymous with the natural state.
When we inquire inwards,
There is an edgelessness,
A centerlessness and a vast expanse to the nature of awareness.
In our day-to-day lives we become more often than not contracted into experience.
This is an invitation into spaciousness that when you zoom out and when you zoom in there is only spaciousness to emanate from that place and in that way that which arises in our day-to-day does not touch the sides.
You can breathe in this way,
You can walk in this way and you can be as that spaciousness,
As that beingness and as that present awareness.
