Welcome to Day 16 of Soul Sustenance.

Each time we attach ourselves to anything which is external or internal,

We create fears.

With attachment is associated the fear of loss of what I am attached to.

The attachment not only gives rise to fear,

But also brings with it emotions like anger,

Ego,

Sadness,

Jealousy,

Greed,

Comparisons,

Hatred,

Etc.

All these emotions have their roots in attachment which gives rise to insecurity.

Any type of attachment is an impression that is so deeply embedded inside us that it seems normal to us.

It imprisons us completely,

But most of the time we do not even realize we are imprisoned.

The negative emotional states connected with this kind of attachment create a state of internal mental pressure or an inner emptiness and makes us feel helpless at times.

Spirituality introduces to us a very beautiful concept of trusteeship.

The word trustee comes from the word trust.

In this case,

The supreme being,

The supreme source says that he wishes and hopes that we keep his trust in taking care and using his treasures.

However we forget,

Although the treasures are with us,

They are not ours.

In the physical world,

One common example of a trustee is when a multi-millionaire doesn't have any heirs,

He or she will leave his wealth in the hands of a trustee or a group of trustees to ensure the right use of his or her wealth as per his or her last wish.

Another common example is of trustees associated with religious and wealthy organizations.

All the wealth and ornaments that worshippers offer out of faith,

Love and devotion for God or all the wealth and property that people give in charity to wealthy organizations is taken care by a group of trustees.

Let us begin our meditation as we move away from the attachment to trusteeship.

Withdrawing from your present surroundings,

Allow the mind to become centered.

Focus on the center of your forehead as you use your breath to relax the body.

Settle yourself in a space of stillness.

Appearing in front of you is a huge treasure store.

You can see all types of physical and non-physical treasures that you possess.

You realize that as a spiritual being or soul,

You possess the most valuable treasures of your mind,

Your thoughts,

Words,

Actions,

Virtues,

Powers,

Time.

On an external level,

The treasures of physical wealth,

Possessions,

Relations including your physical body.

Now ask yourself,

How am I using my treasures?

Am I using them in a worthwhile way?

Am I using these treasures for a positive purpose?

For bringing myself closer to the state of truth that is the real I?

To a state of being in my original form of peace,

Love,

Joy,

Purity,

Power,

Wisdom.

Along with this,

Do I also help to bring others to their original nature?

I may have many a times misused these treasures.

Now I learn how to use them correctly for my spiritual upliftment.

I need to be aware to maintain a relationship of detachment with them so that I do not get caught up with them and become attached to them.

I remind myself that I am a trustee.

Nothing and no one belongs to me.

The treasures of my mind,

My thoughts,

Words,

Actions,

Virtues,

Time,

Physical wealth,

Physical body all belong to the supreme universal force.

I have been appointed as a trustee to take care of them.

I have been entrusted by the supreme being to use these treasures for the benefit of my spiritual self-growth as well as to bring others closer to their truth.

Using these treasures in a positive way.

I am a powerful soul.

I am not attached or dependent on people,

Objects or habits.

I have the willpower and ability to overcome them.

Everyone in my field of relationships and everything I possess are meant to be taken care of while they are with me.

I love people selflessly and without any expectations.

I use objects with care just like a trustee.

I am not dependent on anyone and no one is dependent on me.

Affirming these empowering thoughts,

You return back to the consciousness of the body as you let go of any expectations and attachments.

You remain in your inner state of contentment.

Om Shanti.
