Hello,
And thank you for joining me.
Today we are doing a meditation around friendship.
As we begin,
I'd like you to sit in a comfortable position and begin focusing on your breathing.
Some nice deep belly breaths filling the lungs,
Extending the belly,
And breathing in a nice cadence that is comfortable for you.
And as you tune in to this beautiful breathing pattern,
Starting to notice three things in your vision.
Perhaps the colors,
The textures,
The peripherals.
Next,
Moving to your audio senses and sounds.
Noticing three things in your awareness.
Perhaps the sound of my voice or sounds nearby or sounds far away.
And next,
Noticing three things that you are feeling.
Perhaps an emotion,
Perhaps the feeling of your fingertips touching the world around you.
The feeling of the temperature of the room that you're in.
Allowing all of these things to just take you deeper and deeper into a peaceful state of relaxation.
Next,
If you haven't already,
Closing your eyes as you notice three things in your imagination.
Perhaps an image,
A sound,
A remembering pops up or something totally imagined.
Next,
Noticing three things that you are hearing.
Perhaps the sound of your breathing going in and out.
The sound of silence in between your eyes.
The sound of your breathing going out.
The sound of your breathing going out.
In and out.
The sound of silence in between each word.
The sound of silence.
Once again,
Just noticing three things that you are feeling.
Perhaps the feeling of the space in between each finger.
Your back being rested and supported.
The feeling of giving yourself this moment.
And all of these things just taking you deeper and deeper and deeper.
As you sink into this depth,
This beautiful place of awareness,
We're just going to think about friendships.
Aristotle says there are three different types of friendships.
There's the utility friendship that is often found in business or when we're both exchanging something of value.
The next type of relationship is a pleasurable,
Pleasure-based relationship.
And that could involve playing a sport with one another or doing an activity that you both find pleasurable together.
Now both of these friendships,
The utility and the pleasure-based,
Are often short-lived as when the utility or the pleasurable activity ceases to exist,
The friendship itself ceases to exist.
So there's a third type of friendship that we are going to focus on.
And it is the friendship of the good.
It's based on mutual appreciation of the virtues that the other person admires.
These friendships last until the end.
They take time and depend on mutual growth.
And they are both automatically pleasurable and beneficial.
So as you continue to go deeper and deeper with every breath,
Remembering this term,
Friendship of the good.
And as you relax with your eyes closed,
I want you to start to think about all of the people that you communicate with most in your life.
I want you to think of everyone in your life that you communicate with most.
And start to ask yourself these questions.
After each question,
I will pause to give you some time to allow answers to arise.
What kind of person am I becoming because of this relationship?
Is it helping me to grow mentally,
Emotionally,
And spiritually?
Am I becoming a better person because of this relationship?
Do they bring out the best in me?
Do they inspire me?
Do they encourage me to grow?
Do they encourage me to grow?
Do they encourage me to grow?
Do they develop my greatness?
Do they make me stretch?
And after thinking of all of these questions,
As we assess the people in our lives that we're already communicating with,
Now remember once again the friendship of the good is established on mutual values and respect between each other's values.
So I want you to think about yourself and name three core values that you identify with,
That you respect and admire in yourself.
And with these three values defined,
Sit with them in this meditation,
With the idea of the friendship of the good being magnetized powerfully by these values.
And these values will not only attract friends to you,
But you can look for them in new people that you meet to confirm that they truly are a friendship of the good that has come to you,
For you to be supported,
Loved,
Find joy,
Laugh,
Share in hardships and successes,
And mutually grow with one another,
Establishing trust and compassion for one another.
And as you sit here for a few moments,
Repeating your values to yourself,
Remembering the friendship of the good,
And knowing that it is coming to you,
And these values will guide you.
Just taking a moment here to appreciate all of the friendships that you have had,
Currently have and will have,
And especially appreciating the friendships of the good that are going to come into your life,
As they are of a higher level for you.
And they are part of your journey in becoming the highest version of yourself.
And now before we end for today,
Just a little information gathering here,
Asking your guides,
Your subconscious,
Your conscious,
Whoever wants to come forward,
But first establishing that whatever guidance is shown to you is revealed,
Is known,
Will be of love and light,
And to positively guide you on your path.
And so it is.
And now ask yourself,
Ask these guides,
Your unconscious,
Where might I find a friendship of the good that is in alignment with my core values?
Who in my life is a friendship of the good that I should spend more time developing?
What development with myself do I need to do,
So that I am in alignment with my friendships of the good that are waiting for me right around the corner of my self-growth?
And bringing this meditation to a close,
When you are ready,
Reorienting yourself with the room around you,
Really noticing the details of the room around you and taking time to pull yourself out of this meditative state fully and completely before re-immersing yourself in the hustle and bustle of daily life,
Giving yourself an elongated space to emerge refreshed,
Rejuvenated and restored.
And as you come out,
Being nice and gentle with yourself,
Just remembering that eagles fly high,
And eagles soar,
And they often do so on their own.
So if you're at a place in time right now,
Where you feel like your tribe has not emerged,
Know that you can find strength in the eagle as it soars high and it soars alone,
And it is one of the greatest creatures ever to step foot on this earth,
As are you.
And in this knowing of who you are,
The greatness that you hold within,
You are unlocking that higher level,
And at that height,
Other eagles can see you.
So continue to soar,
Continue to have strong belief in your values,
And let them guide you to this new friendship that awaits you.
