This is a five minute self compassion meditation.

This can be useful if you're feeling tired,

Stressed,

Maybe a bit worn down.

And it's an opportunity to just stop for a few minutes and reconnect with your own strength.

So I invite you to sit in a way that's comfortable and can have your eyes gently closed or with a soft gaze in front of you.

To start with I invite you just to have an awareness of where you are,

The space around you of the place that you're at.

Central to that is an awareness of the body,

How the body is sitting or lying,

Any obvious sensations in the body.

If you've had a big day or you've had some challenges in your life you might notice some areas of tension or tightness and even soreness in your body,

Maybe around the face or the neck,

Shoulders.

And I'd like you just to acknowledge that,

Start by simply acknowledging what is your experience now.

Perhaps noticing those particular areas that might be feeling a little tired or tight,

Sore,

Tense.

Maybe focus on one area,

Might be around the face or eyes,

Might be around the chest,

Maybe it's in the tummy.

Whatever part of the body calls your attention now,

I invite you to focus there.

Bringing a kind,

Allowing attention to this part of the body.

Bringing whatever sensations are present in this part of the body.

Without trying to change anything in particular,

Simply bringing compassionate awareness to this part of the body where we experience some tension or some stress.

As you bring attention to this part of the body,

I invite you to bring a kindness and acceptance,

A warmth.

The body serves us in so many ways and at times it needs some conscious rest.

Noticing also that tension,

Tiredness,

Tightness are all part of the common human experience.

In many ways our own struggles are often unnoticed,

Our own stress is often overlooked.

Here's an opportunity to bring good emotions and good will toward our self.

Now I'd invite you to finish by bringing the attention to the breathing.

Simply being aware of the rising and the falling of each breath.

When you're ready,

Allowing your eyes to open and going on your way.

I sent my awareness and compassion to my neck and shoulders today. Never imagined that it would actually work to take away the tightness and pain. It did though! I learned something new today. Thank you
