Hello and welcome to this Breathwork session.
My name is Jake and I'll be your guide.
Today's session is all about stimulating your inner fire using the breath.
Using your breath to activate and awaken the body and mind is a potent and accessible way to create sustainable energy in your system.
Our goal here is to feel present and clear.
We're going to be working with what's traditionally known as Breath of Fire aka Kapalabhati but in this session there will be a twist.
Traditionally Breath of Fire is known as a fast and loud practice which sounds something like this.
And today instead of going fast what we're going to do is we're going to learn how to slow it down.
So the technique still remains the same,
It's still a forceful exhale but this time we're going to elongate the inhale.
So it's going to sound something like this.
So it's still using that forceful powerful exhale but we're elasticating the inhale and we're stretching out the inhale.
We're going to do three rounds of this style of breathing and in between each round we're going to be doing a breath hold on the inhale and this will mark one round.
This is a stimulating practice best done first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.
In order to do this please find a comfortable seated position with your back supported.
And once you feel ready close down your eyes and allow your body just to enter into stillness.
And first just becoming aware of your breathing.
And just notice your breath as it moves in through the nose and out through the nose.
In through the nose and out through the nose.
Being mindful not to change the breath or alter the breath but simply just to anchor your awareness,
Anchor your presence onto the breathing.
And just becoming really curious about your breath here.
What can you notice?
What can you feel?
Can you notice the difference in sensation between the inhale and the exhale?
And does your breath feel long or short?
Are you breathing with ease or strain?
Just really landing into the breath here.
Anchoring into the present.
Allowing all the thought just to melt away in the background.
And in just one moment we're going to prepare ourself for the slowed down version of breath of fire.
Remembering that this is a forceful exhale and a long inhale.
Stretching out the inhale so we're feeling almost like a max inhale.
So what we're going to do is we're going to take a breath in.
We're going to take a breath in.
And we're going to sigh.
And then we're going to do our first round of breath of fire.
Slowed down.
Exhale.
Keep going.
Few more breaths.
Breathing in.
Forceful exhale.
Breathing in.
Forceful exhale.
Breathing in.
Forceful exhale.
Last few breaths in this round.
Breathing in.
Last breath.
We're going to breathe in now.
And we're going to hold at the top.
Hold here.
Feel the chest open.
The heart open.
Hold here.
Awakening the inner fire as we hold for five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Let go.
And just relax your breathing now.
And just relax your breathing now.
Relax your breathing.
Allow your breathing just to settle.
Coming back to that breath awareness.
Just noticing how that first round has affected you.
Noticing what's moving through you.
And just preparing yourself for another round.
We're going to do more breaths this time.
So with me we're going to take a cleansing breath.
Deep sigh.
Exhale.
Keep going.
Forceful exhale.
Pushing out all the badness.
Stoking that inner flame.
Awakening up the body.
Creating presence and clarity.
Creating this sense of strength.
Creating a sense of vitality.
Keep going.
Big long smooth inhales.
Few more breaths.
Last two breaths.
Last breath.
Big breath in.
And hold.
Hold with a full chest.
Hold your heart high.
The chest open as you hold for 10,
9,
8,
7,
6,
5,
4,
3,
2,
1.
And relax.
And now just relax completely.
Allow the breath and the body just to settle.
Bringing back that breath awareness.
Notice if your breathing has changed.
Notice if your heart rate has changed.
Just become really curious about what's happening inside your own body.
As you notice what you notice.
Feel what you feel.
Just anchoring into the breath and allowing all the thought just to melt away in the background as we stoke the flame of our inner fire.
Creating a sense of clarity and presence.
Creating a sense of relaxation but equally energised.
And now we're just going to prepare ourselves for the last round as we breathe in for the And now we're just going to prepare ourselves for the last round as we breathe in for the cleansing breath.
And let go.
And forceful exhale.
Big long smooth inhales.
Big long smooth exhales.
Keep going.
Halfway there.
Stoking that inner flame.
Waking up the body.
Creating that sense of heat.
Creating that sense of deep deep presence and clarity.
And really just wakening up all of your energy.
All of your presence.
Your whole entire being.
Few more breaths.
Last three.
Last one.
Big inhale.
And hold.
Hold here.
Holding for a longer time now.
Feeling comfortable in this space.
Feeling a complete expansion of the body,
Of the mind,
Of the heart.
Filling up the entire room as you hold here for 10,
9,
8,
7,
6,
5,
4,
3,
2,
1.
Let go.
And sigh.
Relax your breath completely.
Allow everything just to settle.
Allow everything to land.
Bring your awareness inward.
Notice the sensations that are moving through the body.
What can you feel?
What can you notice?
And this is an important part of the practice.
We should just allow the flame to reach every corner of our cell.
Reach every fiber of our being.
So that we leave this practice feeling energized,
Feeling clear,
But also feeling calm.
Feeling this deep sense of presence,
Of clarity and purpose.
And a knowing of what we need to do for the rest of our day,
Our week,
Our month,
Our year.
And taking on those tasks with a renewed sense of energy and purpose.
