Welcome to this meditation on how to set intention.
One of my favorite things to do,
Super powerful if you are a person who likes to journal,
Using writing to really plant those seeds.
I'm recording this in the time of winter and winter in Chinese medicine is the time that we set intentions.
We plant seeds and then we incubate them all winter in this idea of hibernation.
So when the season shifts and it becomes warmer in spring,
We get to watch our seeds sprout.
Now the beautiful thing about intention setting is that the seeds that you are planting and how you're co-creating with your highest self,
The results are happening around you all the time.
You set a desire,
Your awareness moves towards a goal.
That's what an intention is,
Is moving your awareness in a direction,
An aim of your heart,
Of your highest self.
And it's coming back to us in so many ways.
Often our perception is very narrow so we miss the signs because our minds like to create pictures of what things are supposed to look like.
So when we have an intention,
We have this very specific way of how we think that it's going to come back to us,
The results of it.
And so we want to learn how to keep our perception more broad so we can expand our mind and our heart to see the gifts that are happening now and that are constantly arriving as you are co-creating with your life,
With spirit and your highest self.
So you can sit however you'd like.
I'm seated.
Elevating the pelvis if you do want to sit on the ground.
However if you're in a chair,
You just want to scoot your bottom forward to the front of your prop.
Now you could do this standing,
Just a real quick nice reset.
And if you're standing,
Your palms are forward.
I prefer palms down and seated.
And if you're in a chair,
Soles of the feet rooted.
Close your eyes.
And as you become still in body,
Let the breath deepen.
Let the breath arise on the inhale from the earth,
Moving up the body to top of head,
Even filling the belly on the inhale.
Then when you exhale out of the mouth,
Open the mouth and let all tension exit.
Do that again.
Inhale from soles of feet,
Up the spine,
Sit taller,
Hold at crown of head.
Exhale soften empty as all tension moves down.
Exits into the earth.
One more.
And let the breath soften if you're able to let the breath breathe you now.
And watch the natural breath at the level of the chest to see,
See,
Sense and feel the breath moving in and out of the chest.
Every inhale,
The chest rises a little.
Every exhale,
The chest falls.
Your awareness is creating space.
So feel that the shoulders are softening,
That the area of the chest is becoming open,
Receptive and expansive.
Now drop into the expanded quality of the heart and arise a feeling of appreciation,
Contentment.
This is the most fertile ground to plant seeds,
Feeling content for you,
Your life as is,
An appreciation for all the support and gifts that surround you.
And from that space,
Allow a statement of purpose begin to arise.
This is your sankalpa,
Your intention.
You want the statement to be short,
Sweet,
Concise about you in present tense.
So I am instead of I will.
And you want to make it short enough that you can remember it.
And it can be an exclamation of a state of being.
I am whole and complete.
It can be letting go of something.
I release all doing.
It could be a desire of something that you want to create in your life,
Maybe related to health,
A routine,
A habit,
Job,
Maybe a way that you show up for your job or money,
An amount of money that you want to create in your life.
And so allow those words to rise to the surface.
And if you find nothing's arising,
It's okay.
Just enjoy the silence and trust that if not today,
You can always come back to this meditation at some other time and try again.
Now as you release those words,
I want you to begin to visualize.
Visualize having that statement like it's here right now and get really creative.
Let your imagination run wild like with colors.
Picture yourself having your intention.
Visualize here.
And now as you're visualizing it,
Like let your imagination run wild,
I want you to feel it,
Feel what it's going to feel like that it's here.
Feel it completely through your whole body.
And breathing into it,
Either just softly or taking a bigger breath and tell spirit,
Universe,
Whatever you call it,
God,
Say,
Bring me this or something better.
Bring me this or something better.
And now I want you to imagine like you're throwing it into the ether and the universe catches it and you're cutting any sort of cord of attachment that you have to it.
So that's the way that we release that picture is that we cut the cord.
We trust that the universe has,
Hears our intentions and so does our highest self and that our perception is open enough to see how it is here,
Our intention,
As soon as you release the words.
So feel that.
Take a full breath in and a full breath out and let's seal that in with sound.
So we'll ah ooh ooh pronounce each syllable on exhale,
Breathe in.
Now o-m-a-n.
Now the Arabic equivalent for all is h-u-p.
And feel the sound,
The vibration be the integration piece moving into silence.
And so when do you create intention as often as you'd like?
Really important for me around new moons and full moons and season changes and transitions like equinox and solstice,
Of course New Year's Eve.
Yay.
I hope you enjoyed that.
Hands in prayer,
Bring your thumbs in between your eyebrows.
Honoring the sacred space shared,
We say namaste.
Now right hand to heart,
Left hand on top and cross the right thumb over the left and feel the wings of the heart in this eagle mudra.
And now jay praise,
Jay the Sanskrit word,
Jayo flow.
The flow of your heart,
May it guide you.
The flow of your spirit,
May you listen to its guidance.
We say jayo flow.
Thank you.
