
How To Fall In Love With Your Marketing
In episode 80 of the Biz Alchemy podcast, Jacquelyn dives into the nemesis of many entrepreneurs…marketing. Welcome to this very exciting episode on marketing.
Do you love marketing?
I'm imagining that if you do,
You're probably not bothering to listen to this episode,
Which means that probably 95% of my audience are listening because that's probably about the percentage I've have found of the women who are in my world,
My business world,
Who do not like marketing.
To be honest,
I sometimes wonder whether the women who are in marketing even like marketing themselves.
So I'm sure it's still a part of their journey as well.
Because selling who we are and what we have to offer doesn't come naturally to us.
We're great at other people.
We can sell other people.
We can share what all their gifts are and it's very easy.
But when it comes to ourselves,
It can be very confronting,
Especially when we're relatively new to business.
Because the thing is,
Putting ourselves out to market,
Which is sort of what marketing is,
Is a very yang energy.
That whole energy of sales.
I've talked about that before.
It's a very yang energy.
But don't despair.
There is an alternative.
There is a new business paradigm alternative.
And it is a more yin energy,
The receptive energy.
And the alternative is viewing your marketing as connection.
Because that is actually what it is.
And I talk about this in episode six,
Connection is Your Secret Weapon in Business.
That was right at the beginning of the podcast when I was discussing the BEACH philosophy,
Which is my acronym for how to implement the new business paradigm into your business.
And so episode six was about the importance of connection and how actually that is our way to market.
So if you don't remember the BEACH philosophy,
You might like to go back and listen to those earlier episodes.
Obviously,
The C in BEACH is the connection aspect.
So connection is a heart energy.
There is an exchange,
There is a giving and a receiving in a beautiful harmony.
And doesn't that just light you up.
And the heart chakra is about this harmony between giving and receiving.
And the heart chakra is also about authenticity,
Showing up as your truth,
As your essence,
Revealing your essence.
When we connect,
That's exactly what we're doing.
We are connecting from the heart,
There is this beautiful harmony of giving and receiving,
And you are showing up authentically.
That is the secret to marketing in the new paradigm of business,
Viewing it as connection.
Because when you think of the term marketing,
Doesn't it feel inauthentic?
Like it feels very yang.
It feels a little icky in a way,
Like you're being persuaded against your will or something.
There's something in there that doesn't feel clean.
It's almost like that the word is loaded with so much almost manipulative energy.
So don't use that word in your business.
You know,
I've spoken before about the yang language of business.
Don't use those words.
Use connection.
If that helps you to view your marketing in a new light,
And definitely in a new energy.
So when you're looking at how you do your marketing,
How you do your connecting,
It has to feel aligned with your heart.
Because you can't be completely authentic if you are sharing about your business in a way or on a platform that doesn't light you up,
That doesn't feel aligned with you.
Where you just hate being there or you hate the whatever it is you're doing to share and put the word out there about your business.
If it's not feeling good to you,
It's not going to encourage connection.
Now you don't automatically know this,
Do you?
I mean you have to experience different things.
So you have to try out different things to find out what feels most aligned for you.
So I did this at the beginning of my journey.
I tried all different forms of putting myself out there and it took some time to work out what really worked for me and what didn't and I'm still discovering that.
But at a very sort of basic level,
Why would you write a newsletter for example when you just hate every moment of writing that newsletter?
It is such a should and you'd much rather be speaking it.
So why are you writing a newsletter when you could be doing a podcast?
Either your own podcast,
Being a guest on podcast,
Having a YouTube channel,
Showing up and doing lives on Facebook or whatever platform.
Why would you choose to write a newsletter if you could not be authentic,
Be in your joy,
Connect through that newsletter because your energy just wasn't in it?
Or vice versa.
Why would you be forcing yourself to do a podcast when actually your pleasure and your flow comes from writing?
That's where you feel you really can connect with heart.
So go with the way that you connect with heart.
Go with the way that you feel most authentic.
You're not missing out on an audience by not doing that other thing because if that other thing isn't in an energetic alignment with you,
If it's not at your frequency,
Then it's not attracting in the tribe who are at your frequency anyway.
And another example is like feeling you have to be on LinkedIn because you have a certain sort of business but actually you're like fun,
Flamboyant person and it's like your personality is completely smothered or just sort of chained up when you're on LinkedIn because you feel you need to sort of fit in with a certain image of the LinkedIn population.
I know I tried LinkedIn for about two weeks when I really sort of took my focus on to business and I thought okay I'm going to explore LinkedIn,
Try that platform and yeah I lasted about two weeks.
It was just way too dry for me,
Way too serious.
I mean it actually felt inauthentic and so I felt inauthentic being there.
So it just wasn't my way.
It wasn't my way to connect.
So it may well be yours.
How does it make you feel?
That's the thing.
How do you feel there?
Do you feel,
Regardless of whatever platform you're on,
Do you feel lit up?
Do you feel joy?
Does it feel easy?
Do you feel connection?
It's interesting because when I was on Facebook and growing my business there,
I did feel connection.
I had beautiful connection.
I was in the heart-centered group,
Tash Corbin's group.
I was in her takeoff program and that was very much centered around Facebook and I had beautiful connections and I do miss those connections and interestingly I was just away last weekend with my daughter.
We went down to visit my mum.
She's about three hours south of where I live and my youngest daughter Grace came with me and it was really beautiful to have a weekend with her but she works with Tash Corbin as her customer support person and she doesn't talk about work much at all but because we were together all weekend just different things came in and things were mentioned that sort of took me back into that space and I remembered people that I was connected with in those Facebook groups or in that particular Facebook group and there was a part of me went oh I miss I miss that connection with that person and the only way I've stayed mostly connected with people is because they've been on my email list and it's kept up our communication or I've been on theirs but there were so many people that now and again I'll hear a name someone else mentioned a name I'll go oh wow wonder what happened to her wonder where she's at now so I do miss that connection I loved that connection however there were other elements of it that were out of alignment for me I didn't like all the shoulds that came around the algorithm and what you should do so that this almighty algorithm would support you like for me that was the most disempowering thing and I did not enjoy that at all as I've talked about before on the podcast episodes I've done on this one was episode 18 can you have a successful business without social media and then I also talked about it in episode 38 how four months without social media benefited my business so I went into the details more there but I was also finding the energy of the platform of Facebook out of alignment at a vibrational level with my business so that was another reason I pulled away but I did miss the connection I did enjoy the connection although I did find it time-consuming as well so this is why I would never say to anyone this is where you need to be or that's where you need to be because only you can know where you need to be only you can know what lights you up what feeds your heart where you feel this equal giving and receiving where you feel the connection and that's how you find your own marketing strategy that's how you find your unique way to share your business and as I said it can be trial and error so where am I at now well one thing I did last week was my solstice retreat or two solstice retreats they are one of my marketing platforms I certainly don't view them that way because I love doing them holding that space with the sacred energy and deep diving into that energy oh my god I love it so much it lights me up it feeds me I receive so much from that space but yes practically speaking it is also a way that I am marketing myself it's all about connection I love the connection but I'm also sharing what I do so it gives people an example of what it's like to be in group with me it gives them an understanding of my work and the way that I work so it gives them an opportunity then to buy whatever it is that I'm selling at the end of that time and in this case it was the illuminate your soul path session which was actually really popular for probably one of those popular sessions I've ever sold so it told me what people are really craving right now and this is this connection with their soul path and understanding it and where it's taking them so the solstice retreat was a beautiful way for me to share what I can offer in terms of a one-to-one by people having a sample of me holding the group space so that's that's a beautiful way for me to market and I do that four times a year and I love them here on the podcast this is another one of my marketing tools it's not that I'm always marketing something I mean very often I put in most episodes I'll mention something because if you listen to something that I'm sharing and you want to know more about it you want to know how to find out about it so I'm not going to hold back from sharing that information with you but I'm also giving way more you know I'm giving a lot of insight and understanding and through that you are understanding more about me about my approach to business you are becoming more connected to me in fact you know by the time we actually get face-to-face whether that's in a group situation or in a one-to-one you probably know a damn lot more about me than what I know about you so it is a really fabulous tool for me to connect and to share what I have to offer.
Insight timer is another one of my marketing tools and again I didn't go on to insight timer as a marketing tool really I went on to share and and to connect and I just wanted a platform to be able to share my message and it's actually proved to be a fabulous marketing platform for me without me meaning for it to be and it's certainly I've gained a lot of clients from insight timer and yet interestingly when I'm on insight timer I'm not allowed to share my anything that I offer outside of insight timer so it's not an upfront marketing platform because I'm not allowed to so all I can do is share who I am and then it's actually up to anyone who's listening who wants to know more to go and follow and find my profile and find my website and go from there so yes it is a place that I'm marketing myself but not intentionally and then more recently I've started my patreon channel the receiving channel so even though at this stage the patrons on the receiving channel have come from my current tribe because it's I'm on patreon people can still find me that go on to search patreon for certain things so it still opens me to another audience and of course I have my website but I'm not promoting that right now I feel so out of alignment with my website right now I want to change it entirely and I keep seeing other websites and I go oh that's what I want mine to look like that's how I want it to feel like it is so wrong for me and it's just in the last two months probably since I've really moved into the receiving work as well and then this this work about the soul path and it's really made it wrong for me and so I need to completely rewrite it and change the look of it really but it's such an overwhelming project isn't it it feels so big and especially when I spend so much time every week creating like as it is I spend a lot of time creating in my week of clients my yin week I spend all that time creating so there's not a lot of other time to create new copy and a new look for my website it's there and I know it will happen at the right time you know the suddenly I'll be inspired and it will flow so I'm not getting myself too concerned about it I just try not to visit it too often and you know I say that and yet people still love it and resonate with it it's just that I have shifted energetically so it probably will just take a few tweaks to bring it to the same vibrational frequency that I'm feeling now so I know I've gone into here more about how I am marketing but I'm using it as an example because I love everything I've just shared with you there except maybe the website everything else I love I really love and in fact I love writing so I know when I have the space I will love rewriting the copy on my website as well it's just having the the flow of energy to do it but I love it I love recording my podcasts I love showing up on patreon I love showing up on insight timer I really really love it just even chatting with grace on the weekend and when you know thinking about I just imagine how would I feel now going back onto Facebook going back into those groups and other than that thought of connecting reconnecting with people actually every part of me just went oh it like shriveled up and I thought okay I've made the right decision I have no desire to go back to Facebook but as I say we are all different and that is me and I'm being true to me I'm staying true to my heart and I'm I'm sharing my business I'm connecting in ways that really come from my heart that fill my heart and you hear that don't you you can tell like that's the thing is your tribe is reading your energy they can tell if you're somewhere because you want to be there they can tell that you're really connecting with them so have a look at the way you're showing up and where you're showing up in your business yeah the way you're doing it are you doing the stuff you love and if you're doing something because it's a should let it go and find what lights you up how you love to share how you love to connect so as I mentioned before this is really you know this is one aspect of creating a new paradigm within your business a very important one and one that's so often not enjoyed so it's really important to tune in to your heart and tune in to what lights you up until next time have an alchemical week in your biz

This is one of those times I clicked and wasn’t sure if this was for me. I got so much from your message. Your solstice retreats sound amazing. I imagined taking my mom to one. I got off of FB because of those exact feelings also. It’s a time sucker for sure. YouTube is something I’ve been trying to get more involved on. I don’t exactly have a niche and I dislike pigeon holing myself into one area. I have so many things to share. Focusing is definitely an issue. Thank you for all you do. I’ve been listening to you for awhile. I am grateful to you! 🙏🏾🌸🙏
