Namaste everybody.
Welcome to In The Flow with Laurie Albert.
I am Laurie Albert,
In case you were wondering.
So you know,
I have a thought.
You know,
I talk so much about certain aspects to spirituality.
And you know,
I have a thought yesterday.
You know,
We see these quotes and we talk about,
You know,
What it takes to be happy.
Be happy now.
And I know I've talked about this before,
But there's like a new component to this that I wanted to share.
We talk about wanting to find peace in our lives and how it's so easy.
Just,
It starts with you,
You know.
But not everybody gets it that way.
Not everybody can understand it that way.
You know,
And when somebody says,
Oh it's easy,
It starts within.
Yeah,
That's all well and good.
And it does.
But I think that,
You know,
And I've talked to a lot of people about being happy and what that means.
And you know,
I just think it's,
For some people it's a little bit more difficult to find happiness and to start that.
You know,
So I wanted to talk about this today because it is possible to find happiness.
It is.
It is possible to truly be happy in your whole soul,
In your heart.
And I know I have friends,
I have actually a couple of friends that are like,
I'm sorry,
I just,
It's not possible to all of a sudden just be happy.
And I do agree with that.
I got into this discussion a couple weeks ago with a friend.
It's not possible just to,
Okay I'll just turn it on.
Boom,
I'm happy.
It's not possible to do that.
And I agree with you on that.
But I believe also that there are tools that we can utilize that help us on that path.
You know,
That you know,
You feel like you're down.
You feel like things aren't going that great.
And all of a sudden and you recognize it.
And I think that's like the first key is to recognize,
Oh there is something wrong here.
There is something I am not thrilled about.
There's something that is not,
That's making me not happy or sad or mad or anxious,
Whatever,
Right?
The first step is to like acknowledge that.
And the second step,
And this may not be to me,
This is my second step of like acknowledgement,
Right?
Do I really want to be happy?
I know that sounds kind of crazy,
But you know what?
I'm 55.
I'm stuck in my ways in a lot of things,
In a lot of aspects in my life.
I am stuck in my way,
Ways I should say.
So I think to myself,
Am I happy?
Am I choosing to be happy or not happy?
We have choices.
We have choices.
And deep down,
If you look into your gut,
Into your soul,
And you say there's,
I just,
I don't want to be happy right now,
Then that's okay.
And we need to acknowledge that and be okay with that.
As long as we don't sit in it too long,
That's the whole thing,
Right?
Not sitting in it is like a thing,
Okay?
So after we have decided that we want happiness,
We want that,
What is that,
What are the tools?
Well we know what a lot of the tools are,
You know.
Think happy thoughts,
Dance,
Sing,
All of that stuff.
But in my humble opinion,
The most important thing you can do is have a practice of gratitude.
Having a practice of gratitude is,
To me,
The single most important thing that you can do.
And to be quite honest,
I feel like it's one of the easiest tools that you can use to up your vibration and bring in the happy,
Right?
Because here's the thing,
As down as you are,
You could possibly be,
My mother,
I'll just,
Tomorrow is her birthday,
Right?
So my mother,
When she was,
She was getting ready to cross over,
I found things to be grateful for.
The one most important thing,
And this is like heavy and I don't mean to be heavy on a morning,
Right?
But the one thing I was most grateful for was there was nothing left unsaid between my mother and myself.
We just,
It was there,
And obviously I'm very communicative and where do you think I got that from?
My mother,
Right?
So there was nothing left unsaid.
I was so grateful for that.
There are always things to find to be grateful for.
Always.
Always.
Even if you're sad,
Okay,
So I'm using my mother as an example,
Sorry mom,
But she's getting ready to pass away.
We know that that's like imminent,
The whole thing,
Right?
Sometimes you can go down another path and say,
Okay,
Well maybe I'm not so grateful about this,
But you know what?
I'm really grateful that,
I can't even think of an example,
That I am on my way to go see her or the flight was not as expensive as it could have been in order to get to her.
You know,
Those sorts of things.
You can always,
Always find something to be grateful for.
And a lot of people I know know it's not possible to be grateful all the time,
And it's it's not easy.
And I have to tell you,
I work at it daily.
I have worked at it for many,
Many years to be grateful.
Many,
Many years.
One thing I do,
I have a friend who is so super,
Super dear to me.
We,
For many years,
And this is so ironic,
Right,
And I hope she's listening at some point,
But um for many years,
Literally many years,
Like six,
Seven,
Eight years,
We had a practice.
Every single day we would email each other the things we were grateful for.
Oh there were days that were,
We're just like,
I need to pull this out of my hat.
I was gonna say something else,
But I'm not going to.
You know,
There are days when you just struggle to find something to be grateful for,
But practicing it,
Doing it.
So we did it for many,
Many years and then all of a sudden life got crazy or whatever and we stopped.
We stopped doing it,
Right,
But literally last week we were like,
Why don't we do that again?
So we picked it back up and I'm like so happy.
But anyway,
There's always,
Always something to be grateful for.
So put a sticky note on.
Remind yourself to be grateful.
Put a reminder on your phone.
What are you grateful for?
I have,
I have the weirdest reminders on my phone.
I have the weirdest reminders on my phone.
Like my one that comes up for whatever reason,
I don't know how I did this,
But it comes up like every third day.
Just say yes.
It's like,
Okay,
You know,
Put a reminder on your phone.
It's fun.
What,
Lori,
What are you grateful for?
I love that,
You know,
Sticky notes,
All of that stuff that we can do this,
Right?
Especially now.
There's so much happening in the world,
So much happening and we have to find the gratitude.
We have to find the positive.
We have to find the joy.
We have to find the happy.
So let's get ourselves comfortable,
Shall we?
Let's get ourselves comfortable and let's take a nice deep breath in.
Oh and release.
There is nothing better than taking that first deep breath of the day.
Let's do that again and make it go deep into your lungs all throughout your body.
Take a deep breath in and release.
Awesome.
When you feel comfortable,
Close your eyes.
Get yourself situated.
So,
What are you grateful for today?
And what's fantastic is it can be anything.
I'm grateful for coffee.
I'm grateful.
I'm grateful for my new towels that I just bought.
I am grateful for the shoes I just bought.
I am grateful for technology.
What are you grateful for?
It can be anything because it's your gratitude practice.
It can be deep.
I'm grateful for my belief that humanity is generally good.
Or,
I am grateful for coffee.
Our mantra today,
What do you think it's gonna be?
Our mantra today is simply thank you.
The act of saying thank you to God,
Spirit,
Universe,
Whatever you choose to call it,
Just thank you.
Just a blanket thank you.
And as you say thank you,
I want you to put your hand on your heart.
Just so that you can acknowledge the gratitude in your heart.
So as we continue,
We sit in our silence.
We put our hand on our heart and say as our mantra,
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
So we will keep this up for a few minutes.
I will keep the time.
And let's begin.
You you you you you you you you you Start bringing our awareness back to our bodies.
Say a last thank you.
Let's take a nice deep breath in.
Bringing in that gratitude and joy and love and happy.
And release.
Awesome.
There is nothing more vibration raising than talking about gratitude and the things that we are grateful for in our lives.
Nothing.
I am so truly grateful for each and every one of you.
And not just because you're here listening to this with me,
But because you've taken that step to live in a world that is grateful.
And live in a world where we consider things outside ourselves and meditate.
So,
I really appreciate each and every one of you.
Thank you so much for joining today.
Until next time,
Namaste.
Have a beautiful day.
