Good morning.

Namaste.

Welcome to In The Flow with Lori Albert.

Are we ready to meditate?

I first have my little story to tell you.

Oh my gosh.

So much to say,

Right?

As always,

Right?

I am never at a lack of words,

Right?

So laying in bed yesterday,

Because I only sleep in on Saturdays and Sundays,

Laying in bed and it was like,

I was like so comfortable and everything and I'm scrolling through my phone and,

And I all of a sudden I see that Pema Chodron is,

Is being interviewed by Oprah.

I mean,

Seriously.

So my husband is like,

What's going on?

I'm jumping out of bed,

Run into my,

I run into the spirit room,

You know,

That's my room,

You know,

Run into the spirit room,

Turn it on.

And I'm just like,

You know,

When you're supposed to hear something,

You're supposed to hear something.

And I,

I was so busy and so not busy,

But so,

Um,

Just like I knew something,

I knew I was supposed to hear this thing,

Right?

And I had an amazing aha moment.

I had an aha moment that I haven't had in a while,

Right?

So there I am sitting there watching Pema Chodron being interviewed by Oprah,

Which is amazing.

If you go to Oprah's Facebook page,

You can see it.

Oh my gosh.

Anyway,

Loving Pema.

I mean,

She's just,

She's like,

If you don't know who she is,

She's a Buddhist nun and she's like from New York.

She tells it like it is.

And,

Uh,

She's just so inspiring.

Anyway,

I'm going to oversimplify what she said because it was a long thing,

Right?

But this is the basis of it.

And this was my aha moment in it.

She was talking about how,

First of all,

She was talking about how she is human.

She is human.

And I was like,

Oh,

You know,

And she was talking about a very real,

Again,

Over,

Over,

I'm cutting this down.

She was talking about this time when she was really wrong about something.

And it was like,

You know,

Relatively recently.

And I'm just like,

Oh wow,

She's human.

Oh my gosh.

You know,

I love when people can admit they're wrong or admit that they have something that needs to be worked on,

You know,

Because we all do.

I absolutely do.

We all do.

Right.

Anyway,

So she gets into this story.

Um,

And the basis of it,

And this was the aha part,

The basis of it was when you're mad at somebody,

When you're like really irritated at somebody,

Be it your spouse,

Your siblings,

Your mother,

Father,

Elected officials,

Whatever it is,

If you're mad at them,

Recognize that you're mad and then go inside and look at those feelings of mad,

Those feelings of irritation.

Where is it really coming from?

Where is it really coming from?

Deep down,

Deep down in your soul.

Where is that irritation coming from?

And I was like,

You know,

I mean,

I don't get mad mad that often,

Sort of,

You know,

I mean,

We all get irritated or,

You know,

But if we go in,

Go inside and look at that as to why are we mad?

Like really,

Why are we mad?

It's really not that person.

It's something inside us that reacted to that person.

Mind blown.

Right.

So whenever you get mad at somebody today or you get irritated at somebody,

Because it happens every day,

You get kind of irritated and you kind of go,

What are you doing?

Why?

Why are you particularly,

Meaning me,

Not you,

I'm not blaming anybody for anything,

But I'm saying look within and look at why you might be truly irritated with that person.

Not just why are you mad?

Not like,

Well,

This person did this and this.

Well,

Why are you reacting to that that way?

Yeah,

Big time.

I was so blown away and I wasn't mad at anybody at that moment,

But it was just,

It was something I was like,

I can't wait to share this tomorrow.

I can't wait to share this.

Oh my gosh.

Because it's that,

That's the thing.

Gosh,

Can you imagine if the world would do this?

And how many times,

How many times have I said that?

Can you imagine if the world would say to themselves anytime they got irritated with somebody,

Wait,

Step back for a minute.

Why am I feeling irritated?

What about,

What about what's going on within me is feeling that irritation.

Right.

Because the reality is,

And it kind of goes back to in a sense,

Now that I'm really thinking about it,

It kind of also goes back to Don Miguel Ruiz and the four agreements.

Don't take anything personally.

So I mean,

It's not like if somebody just,

If somebody says,

You know,

If somebody says something to you and you take it personally,

It's like anything.

It's like anything that anybody does or says doesn't have to do with you.

Wow.

Don't you love it when I have spur of the moment aha moments.

I mean,

It's like it's amazing,

Right?

It's,

It's really an amazing thing looking within whether you're irritated,

Whether you're happy,

Whether you're sad,

Looking within.

So and go if you want to go see that Pema show drone interview.

It was pretty,

Pretty astounding.

So,

All right,

So let's get ready to meditate on this and just like let it all go.

Right.

So need that.

I'm so weepy all weekend because of the,

Because of the new moon energy.

I was just weepy and I'm just like my husband and I were talking.

I said,

I'm going to cry.

He goes,

Why?

I don't know.

I'm just going to cry.

Okay.

So,

All right,

So let's get ourselves comfortable.

So we need to meditate on this,

Right?

So let's let our eyes go closed.

Oh,

Let's take a nice long,

Deep,

Deep breath in and release it.

Great.

Perfect.

Let's take another deep breath in.

And release.

Just what we needed today,

Right?

Just what we needed.

The beginning of a new moon time.

Love that.

Create something new for yourself.

Creation.

Beautiful.

So today our mantra is one that David G likes to talk about a lot.

And it is Yogastha Karu Karmani.

And I'll,

I'll repeat that a few more times.

But what this basically means is it's a line from the Bhagavad Gita.

And in that,

I won't get into the whole story,

But basically what Yogastha Karu Karmani means,

The essence of it is establish yourself in the present moment and then perform the action.

Establish yourself in the present moment and then act.

It's kind of a theme lately is being present.

Getting in touch with where you are,

Who you are being in that present moment.

And that's why being in a state of gratitude really creates being able to establish yourself in that present moment.

So let's think about that.

What are a few things that you are absolutely grateful for?

What are you grateful for in your life?

It could be the new mattress that you just got.

It could be the new friend you just made.

Whatever it is for you,

Whatever it looks like for you,

To be grateful for it is establishing ourselves in the present moment.

It's one of the tools in our tool chest.

Yogastha Karu Karmani.

As we get set to sit in the silence for a few minutes,

Let's repeat this mantra to ourselves.

Yogastha Karu Karmani.

Establish ourselves in the present moment and then perform the action.

Keeping ourselves in that state of gratitude.

Let's imagine ourselves in the present moment.

Yogastha Karu Karmani.

If you start to forget the mantra,

That's absolutely okay.

You can come back to it by centering yourself or concentrate on your breath.

I will keep the time and let's begin.

Yogastha Karu Karmani.
