Welcome.
If you've landed here,
You're feeling overwhelmed with life.
We're going to turn that overwhelm into stillness in today's meditation practice.
In order to hear your heart speak,
You must be still.
When you're overwhelmed or feeling overrun,
It's difficult to hear your inner voice,
Which is the voice that leads you and guides you.
So find a comfortable position and together we're going to take three deep breaths just to settle in.
Breath in and breathe out.
Breath in and release.
Last one,
Take a breath in and go ahead and release your breath all the way out until you feel like you can't squeeze any more air out of your lungs and then return your breath to its normal pace.
We all wear so many hats in today's world.
For all the different roles we play in life,
It can start to feel like a bit too much.
You may be struggling today with one or two or more of the roles that you have to play in life.
Maybe you're struggling with your role as a mother figure or a father figure,
A friend,
An employee,
A manager,
A son,
A daughter.
Maybe you're in the role of a confidant and that's bringing you overwhelm.
Maybe it's your role as a sister or a brother or a boss or a boyfriend or a girlfriend or a neighbor.
Maybe you're a homemaker and you're feeling overwhelmed.
Perhaps you're in the role of a counselor or a teacher or a business owner.
You may be a healthcare worker,
A business professional.
You may just be feeling a general sense of overwhelm at school,
At church,
At home or at work.
Or perhaps you're feeling overwhelmed with your schedule in general.
You could also be overwhelmed with your own thoughts of worry,
Anxiety or fear.
There are so many things that can bring us a sense of unrest.
I want you to take a minute to identify where exactly the source of your overwhelmed feeling is coming from.
I'll be back in one minute.
Okay.
Perhaps in your moment of silence,
You identified one or five or ten or twenty of these different things and you may be trying your best with all these different roles you have to play just to have something come crashing down around you.
Even when we do our best sometimes,
Things don't go as planned.
Or maybe you're crushing it and things are going swimmingly but your energy is fading fast.
Or you don't have time for the people you love and you're not sure how much longer you can hang on.
Whatever is bringing you this stress,
This anxiety,
This overwhelm,
In this moment,
This exact moment,
You don't have to be anything.
You don't have to be mom or dad or friend or lover or boss or employee.
You don't have to think about responsibilities or relationships.
You don't have to have any thoughts at all.
You just have to be.
We're going to practice being nothing.
We're going to practice being still.
We're going to practice being.
I'm going to leave you here for several minutes and I want you to have no thoughts.
If you experience a thought,
Release it.
Acknowledge the thought and literally say to the thought,
Nope,
Not right now.
I'm not thinking about you right now.
And release the thought.
Let it float away with the music and then still your mind again.
If you have to do this five times,
50 times,
150 times,
Then that's how many times you should do it.
The more you practice this meditation,
The easier it will be to release your thoughts as soon as they come into your mind.
Just remember in these next few minutes,
You're practicing being,
Being nothing,
Being still,
Just being.
I'm going to leave you now and I'll be back in a few minutes where we will close out this meditation together.
I want to take this moment to welcome you back to the room.
I hope you found these last few minutes restorative.
I hope they were calming and peaceful for you.
Most of all,
I hope that this will be a practice that you'll revisit so that you can give your mind and your heart the stillness that it needs so that you can hear your inner voice speaking to you and guiding you.
At this time,
Let's take three deep breaths.
We're going to close the practice the way we opened it.
Breathe in and release.
Breathe in and let go.
Last one,
Big breath in and let it out.
This one,
You're going to squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze all the air out of your lungs until there's nothing left in there and then return your breath to its normal pace.
I am honored that you chose to spend these moments with me today and it is my prayer that you will find your inner stillness and let go of overwhelm.
Wiggle your fingers,
Wiggle your toes and when you're ready,
Open your eyes and return to the room and return to your day.
But return to your day with more peace and more calm and more stillness.
This has been a meditation with Alisha Montcomito.
May God bless you and keep you.
