Awakening is not a matter of finding something new,
But of recalling what was always here.
Ipek Williamson Find a comfortable posture,
Seated on a cushion,
A chair,
Or lying down.
Let your spine be gentle,
But upright,
Allowing ease and alertness to coexist.
Softly close your eyes,
Or soften your gaze if that feels better.
Begin by bringing your awareness to how your body meets the support beneath you.
Notice points of contact,
The seat beneath your sitting bones,
The earth under your feet,
The weight of your limbs resting.
With each exhale,
Imagine breathing gently into that support,
Melting into the embrace of the earth.
Now,
Let your breath slow and deepen naturally.
No need to control it.
Simply notice how it flows,
The subtle rise of your chest or belly,
The cool air entering,
The warm air leaving.
With every exhale,
Sense a softening inside,
A release around your shoulders,
Your jaw,
Your belly.
And with every inhale,
Allow a sense of gentle steadiness to grow within you,
Rising softly up through the spine.
Let this connection anchor you.
Let your body be supported.
Your mind settle.
Your breath lead the way.
Take a quiet moment here to arrive just as you are.
In the vast landscape of human experience,
There exists a sacred foundation,
A constellation of timeless principles that guide us toward living with greater depth,
Clarity and compassion.
These are not rigid doctrines or fixed beliefs,
But enduring compass points,
Gentle markers on the map of awakening.
Whether you're just beginning your journey,
Exploring with curiosity,
Or walking with long-held wisdom,
These guiding lights are always here to meet you.
They are Dharma,
Karma,
Samsara,
Moksha,
Tao,
The Middle Way,
The Witness and Sat-Chit-Ananda.
Those are inner truths waiting to be felt,
Not as ideas,
But as invitations.
Let yourself soften into them.
Wherever you are,
These foundations remain present,
Patient and quietly luminous,
Ready to guide you,
Nurture you and walk you home.
And now,
Allow the breath to carry you inward.
With each inhale,
Imagine a soft light gathering in your chest.
This light becomes a sacred symbol forming from within.
From this center,
Eight petals begin to unfold,
Each one a living energy,
A pillar of wisdom.
Let each petal reveal itself one by one,
Softly,
Intuitively.
The first petal is Dharma,
The inner compass that leads with quiet clarity.
A golden thread flows through your heart.
It reminds you your presence is your path.
No striving is needed.
Simply align.
The second petal is Karma.
The echo of every thought,
Every action.
Ripples extend from you.
Gentle and far-reaching.
Each breath is a seed.
You begin to sense the grace woven into every choice.
The third petal is Samsara,
The turning wheel of patterns and stories.
A soft circle spins around you.
But now,
You don't resist.
You recognize.
Within the cycle,
There is growth.
Beyond it,
Peace is waiting.
The fourth petal is Moksha,
The liberation that arises not from escape,
But from understanding.
The circle begins to dissolve.
Boundaries soften.
You see now.
You were never truly confined.
Stillness holds your freedom.
The fifth petal is the Tao.
The sacred current that moves without effort.
You become the flow.
Smooth.
Soundless.
No need to push.
Simply follow.
The sixth petal is the Middle Way.
The quiet wisdom that lives between extremes.
Two stones rest on either side of a winding path.
You walk the middle.
Balanced.
Whole.
Present.
The seventh petal is the Witness.
The ever-present awareness within.
A vast space opens above like endless sky.
Thoughts come and go like drifting clouds.
You remain steady,
Clear,
Untouched.
You are the sky.
And the final petal is Sat Chit Ananda.
The essence beneath all seeking,
Truth,
Consciousness,
Bliss.
You return to the center of the flower.
The light pulses gently.
As a remembrance.
This is who you are.
This is what you are.
Let the flower hold you.
Let it surround you in stillness.
In radiance.
In peace.
Rest in the sacred wholeness.
And simply let go of all effort.
Let the petals soften into light.
Let the flower dissolve into spacious,
Restful awareness.
Breathe.
Feel this quiet.
And repeat after me.
I walk the path,
But I am also the path.
I don't need to understand everything to be at peace.
I carry the teachings,
Not in my mind,
But in my way of being.
I am whole.
I am present.
I am home.
Now let's begin our return.
Slowly and softly.
Bring your awareness back to the rhythm of your breath.
Inhale,
Feeling the breath nourish your body.
Exhale,
Feeling it release gently into the space around you.
Begin to notice the subtle sensations.
The air brushing against your skin.
The support beneath your body.
The quiet or noises around you.
Invite small movements now.
Wiggle the fingers.
Toes.
Gently roll your shoulders.
Maybe move your neck side to side.
Feel yourself arriving.
Not only into the room.
But into your life.
With a little more spaciousness.
A little more presence.
And when you feel ready.
Gently open your eyes.
From my heart to yours.
With all my love and gratitude.
Namaste.
