Peace is found not in what you observe but in remembering that you are the one observing.
Ipek Williamson Let's begin by sitting comfortably and allowing your hands to rest where they feel most natural,
On your lap or gently by your side.
Let your eyelids lower softly.
You can close them all the way but there's no need to close out the world.
So it's okay to just soften your focus.
Let your breath begin to slow,
No control,
No direction,
Just observation.
Now gently bring your awareness to your breath.
Feel the inhale.
Feel the exhale.
And now take one step back within.
As if you are sitting behind your breath and watching.
There is a part of you that sees.
It has no preference.
No urgency.
No fear.
It simply witnesses.
As you sit here,
Thoughts may come.
Some may be soft,
Others louder.
That's okay.
Don't chase them.
Don't resist them.
Let them rise like waves and then let them fall.
And always return to the one who's watching.
The eye behind the thought.
The stillness beneath the storm.
Now shift your awareness to your body.
Can you notice any sensation?
Maybe the weight of your body.
The temperature of the air.
The rhythm of your chest.
Can you witness your body without merging into every signal?
Now bring to mind a recent moment that stirred emotion.
Maybe frustration or anxiety.
Let it rise briefly in your awareness.
Just enough to feel.
And now observe it.
Notice where it lives in your body.
Notice the story the mind attaches to it.
And instead of engaging or judging.
Simply watch it.
Like clouds across the sky.
Like a bird crossing the horizon.
Seen.
Felt.
Released.
This is the gift of the witness.
You don't have to suppress anything.
You don't have to fix anything.
You just don't have to become everything you experience.
Now rest in that space.
Not in thought.
Not in emotion.
But in the quiet eye that sees it all.
And now gently return to your breath.
The inhale.
The exhale.
Feeling the outline of your body once again.
Noticing the ground or the seat beneath you.
Feeling the boundary of your skin.
You are back here.
In form.
But something in you is more spacious.
You are not lost in the current.
You are the watcher on the shore.
And as you carry this practice into your day,
Remember.
Awareness is always available.
Presence is always possible.
You are not the storm.
You are the sky it moves through.
When you are ready,
Begin to move your fingers,
Your toes.
Let the eyes gently blink open while letting your inner gaze stay open too.
Welcome back.
From my heart to yours with all my love and gratitude,
Namaste.
