Meditation To Connect To Your Infinite Self
Pratyahara is the withdrawal of the senses and the first stage in yogic meditation. You draw your senses from the outside world of sense gratification to the true happiness and bliss of your Universal Self. Learn to connect to yourself, and shine.
Transcript
Pratyahara is a yogic term that means withdrawal of the senses.
Most of the times our senses are dragging us all over the place trying to get gratified.
We want to see things that look nice,
Smell things that smell nice,
Eat good tasting food,
And all those other things,
But we don't really pay attention to the ramifications of the actions that we're doing.
It usually ends up getting us in trouble.
The first stage in yogic meditation is a stage called pratyahara.
It means withdrawal of the senses.
You're pulling your senses from the outside world,
Where your senses are trying to get gratified,
Inward towards the light of the universe,
To the light of God that shines within you.
And that's what we're going to work on today.
Pulling our senses from the outside world of delusion,
Inward towards the light of our true,
Infinite,
Universal self.
So let's get into a comfortable meditative position with our back,
Neck,
And head aligned.
Feet rooted on the floor if that's comfortable for you.
And I welcome you to close your eyes.
Now let's start by taking a couple deep breaths.
And now through our nose all the way down to our belly.
Let's inhale nice and deeply,
Filling our belly and our lungs.
Now exhale that breath all the way out,
Feeling your lungs fall,
Pushing your belly all the way in.
Inhale again,
Deeply filling your belly and your lungs.
And exhale that breath all the way out.
Feeling your lungs fall,
Pushing your belly in.
Inhale again,
Deeply filling your belly and your lungs.
And exhale,
Feeling your lungs fall,
Pushing your belly all the way in.
Now continue breathing on your own at a nice,
Comfortable,
Relaxed pace.
Something that you don't have to put any effort into whatsoever.
Just let your body naturally breathe.
And remember,
Improt your heart working on pulling our senses from the outside world inward towards the light that shines within us.
Since our eyes are already closed,
We're going to start with our sense of sight.
So with your imagination in your mind's eye,
You're going to see bright white light shining in the center of your chest at heart level.
As bright as you can possibly imagine it.
If you feel yourself looking down with your physical eyes,
Relax them.
You're not going to see them with your physical eyes.
You're going to see that light shining with your mind's eye or your imagination.
If you lose focus of it or your mind starts to wander,
Just keep seeing it again and again until it shines through your meditation.
And as you see that light shining there,
Know it's the light of your true self.
Omniscient,
Omnipotent,
Omnipresent,
Full of universal love and energy and power,
Perfect in every single way.
Every time you see it shining,
Know it's your true self.
Now,
Along with seeing that light,
We're going to pull our sense of feel inward and work on feeling the positive energy and blissful vibrations that that light gives off.
Whatever you're currently feeling right now physically,
It's cool to acknowledge it.
It's your connection to whatever you're sitting on,
The position your body's in,
The temperature of the room you're in,
The texture of your clothes against your body,
Any physical sensation you're feeling right now,
Go ahead and acknowledge it and start to pull your sense of feel inward towards that light.
That light of your true self shining at your heart center.
The change in vibration and the energy,
It's going to be subtle.
When you first start to notice it,
It might feel like a floating or swirling or fluttering feeling right around the center of your chest,
Right where you're seeing the light of yourself.
When you become aware of it,
Don't grab onto it too tightly,
Because if you do,
You'll notice it will slowly drift away.
When you become aware of it,
Lightly connect to it and gradually ride the wave deeper and deeper until you feel that bliss.
Now we're going to work on pulling our sense of hearing.
We're going to use the OM sound for that.
The OM is that universal vibration,
Sound of the vibration that everything gives off.
We're going to use the pull our sense of hearing inward and take us deeper and deeper into that light.
We're going to start off by saying the mantra out loud together three times.
Then we're going to pull it inward and we're going to hear and feel the vibration of it pulsating from that light.
Let's inhale nice and deeply and exhale with a nice long OM.
OM Inhale deeply and exhale with another long OM.
Inhale again deeply and exhale with another long OM.
Now pull that OM inward and hear it and feel the vibration of it pulsating from that light.
All of your awareness is going to be on seeing that light of your true self,
That light of God,
The light of the universe that shines within you.
You're going to see it shining right at your heart level,
Right in the center of your chest at your heart center.
You're going to know it's your true self as you see it shining there.
You're going to feel the positive energy and blissful vibrations that that light is giving off.
You're going to hear and feel the vibration of that OM sound pulsating from that light.
You can let everything else drift away and go as deeply inside that light of your true self as you possibly can.
Remember if thoughts arise or you get distracted,
Don't fight with your mind to try to block the thoughts out.
Just acknowledge the thought,
Let it drift away,
And come back to that light of your true self.
Seeing it shining,
Feeling the energy,
And hearing and feeling the vibration of the OM goes deeply inside of your true self as you can.
We're going to slowly start to draw our awareness back out from that light,
Out to our physical body.
We're going to start to very,
Very slowly and gently wiggle our fingers and toes.
You can go ahead and roll your wrists and roll your ankles a little bit.
Move your head a little bit from side to side.
Whenever you're ready,
You can go ahead and slowly,
Slowly open up your eyes.
Remember throughout your day,
Even when you're not meditating,
You can connect to that light and feel that energy and let it shine in your interactions with yourself and others.
