Hello and welcome to Intuition Awakening.

My name is Janine.

In light of all of the protesting occurring in the United States,

In light of the Black Lives Matter movements,

Indigenous Lives Matter movements,

In light of the systemic racism and prejudices in the world,

I wanted to create this meditation today to help us journey into ourselves to uncover the roots of some of our beliefs.

For those of us who did not grow up as persons of color,

As Indigenous community members,

It can be difficult to understand.

It can be difficult to let ourselves feel the discomfort these videos or news media coverage is creating inside of us.

We don't know how to help,

We don't know what to do,

And I think one of the biggest steps we can take on our journey is to bring awareness to ourselves,

To bring awareness to where these thoughts came from,

To remember back to our generational traumas,

And to start to piece together some of these narratives that we play unconsciously out of habit in our head.

We grew up with slurs and derogatory names and words in school.

As children,

We remember these things.

We remember who the cops were called for,

Who they were called to pick up.

We remember when fights broke out at school,

Or who was bullied and teased.

And perhaps we may have experienced some of these things in our own lives.

Maybe we had a rough childhood in some ways,

Or have experienced hardships in life,

But I want us to explore now and be brave and go a little deep and do a meditation today to focus on a particular narrative that plays inside your head.

This can be something that you know makes you uncomfortable,

That you know you want to change,

But you just don't understand why it's there in the first place.

So today,

Journey with me,

Journey into your unconscious mind,

Our generational traumas,

And let's unpack this belief a little bit together now.

So to start,

I'd like you to find a comfortable meditating position.

This could be seated on your floor or a chair.

Perhaps if you'd like to be comfortable lying down on your bed,

But making sure you are maintaining some awareness in your body.

I'd like you to take three inhales and exhales with me.

We're going to center ourselves into this present moment.

Inhale one,

Two,

Three.

Exhale one,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five.

Inhale again one,

Two,

Three.

Exhale one,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five.

Inhale one,

Two,

Three,

And exhale one,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five.

I want us to set a mindful intention today to be gentle on ourselves no matter what judgments come to the surface,

No matter what unconscious patterns we discover.

May our divine help us lead our lives with love going forward.

May we be the end of this generational trauma.

May we carve our own path moving forward in life.

May that path be filled with love and light and peace.

I'd like you to tap into your body right now.

I'm going to spend a few moments here.

Our body is our teacher.

Where do you feel tension right now?

Do you feel it in your hips or your feet?

Perhaps your knees?

These can be places our ego rests.

We can feel stuck in our hips,

This inability to move forward,

Or we ourselves might be having a lot of fear about our very root desires like housing,

Shelter,

Financial stability.

Perhaps you feel it a little farther up in your hips and the bottom of your digestive system around your reproductive organs and your sacral chakra.

This is our creative space and we might be really craving inspiration or ideas right now.

We want to give life to a new path in our bodies so we might be feeling some tension in our sacral chakra.

Perhaps it's higher up in your solar plexus,

Your abdomen,

Your stomach,

Your liver.

This is our center for digesting our emotions.

So if you're feeling a lot of irritable bowel syndromes,

Perhaps gas or bloat,

Just tuning in and allowing your body to give you the message that digesting your emotions right now is feeling difficult.

Moving up higher to the heart chakra,

Perhaps you feel chest pains,

Perhaps you feel some tension in your shoulders,

And of course,

I hope there are no underlying medical causes in the chakra.

Please always consult your doctor if you feel severe pains anywhere in your body.

But knowing that grief resides in our lungs,

Knowing that can really bring a lot of awareness to our emotions.

Perhaps you feel your throat is scratchy or your jaw is very tense.

This is our throat chakra,

Which is all about communication and expression.

We might be feeling stifled or unsure what to say.

A little higher in our eyebrow or eye region,

Perhaps kind of a tension headache around our temples.

This is our intuition and trusting our gut.

We're a little higher even yet,

Perhaps the top of our head or feeling migraine headaches or trouble sleeping or having vivid dreams.

Just knowing that our crown chakra is about support and community,

About connection to this higher source called the divine or the universe,

As well as our connection to ourselves and to others.

So scan your body now.

Where do you feel tension today?

Feeling this tension in our body,

I want you to take a deep inhale in through your nose into this area.

Try to imagine your breath going right to the source of your pain as you exhale,

Try to release the tension.

Inhaling again,

Tell yourself the mantra,

I love this awareness.

Exhaling again,

Releasing that burden,

Releasing that tension.

Inhaling one more time with the mantra,

I welcome sensations in my body and exhaling your tension or stress.

Now that we have connected with our mind and our body,

I want you to bring to mind with gentleness and love.

One thought in your head,

One worry,

One perhaps it was a line you heard growing up as a child that you no longer want,

That you no longer desire to live out in your life.

For myself,

This was stereotypes about the indigenous community.

I grew up surrounded by a lot of crime and poverty in that community,

But I also had really great role models in that community.

And I wish to let go of those stereotypes in myself and lead my life full of love and compassion so that I can better help and serve my brothers and sisters no matter our race,

No matter our skin color.

So if there's something that's been brought up during these times of crisis and global outcry,

Perhaps a thought that you still find is disturbing and you wish you didn't think like that,

I want you to bring it to mind gently now and just sit with this thought for a moment.

Sitting with this thought,

I want you to notice the discomfort arising in your body.

For me,

I noticed my stomach gets very queasy.

I almost feel nauseous.

Perhaps for you,

This shows up as tension in your shoulders or your jaw again.

Bring gentle awareness,

Knowing that we are creating a safe place to explore our biases right now.

We do not have to judge ourselves critically and harshly.

So many of these thoughts and fears did not come from us and our generation,

But the generations and generations and generations that have come before us.

Biases and prejudices have been built into our systems.

They have become a way of life.

So try to be very gentle with yourself as you explore these thoughts.

You are not your fault.

And when we know better,

We do better.

When we know how to explore ourselves and our minds and bodies,

We can lead with love instead of unconsciously reacting with fear and old patterns.

I invite you now sitting with these emotions and these feelings in your body to place your hands on your heart chakra,

On your chest,

Above your heart.

Place your palms touching your skin,

Touching your clothing,

And repeat after me.

I will see things from a different perspective now.

I allow the divine to show me a new perspective.

I open my mind and open my heart.

I will lead a life of peace.

As I sit with these uncomfortable emotions and biases that are inside me,

I know that I am healing.

Awareness is the first step to change.

I thank myself for bringing awareness to this biases today.

I thank myself for being open-minded.

I know when I give love and gentleness to myself,

I am able to share it with others.

Feeling into this heart energy now,

I want you to imagine the light beneath your palms,

In your heart center,

Expanding out around you,

Creating this new aura,

This new way of being,

Feeling support from your divine,

From your guardian angels,

From the universe.

You are now connecting with the collective consciousness.

You are now adding light and love to the collective consciousness.

Imagine this light expanding wider and wider around you to fill your home,

To fill your block,

To fill your neighborhood,

Just knowing that this light can expand to the far reaches of the universe.

So expand that light as far as you can,

Feel it crossing borders,

Crossing oceans to encircle the globe and know that this energy started within you.

It started within your awareness to change,

To be better,

To do better.

Express gratitude to the universe in whatever form or way you wish.

Perhaps this is by saying a prayer for those affected by violence.

Perhaps this is sending an I love you to all affected.

Gently you can remove your hands from your heart chakra if you would like and wiggle your fingers and toes gently and I would like you to open your eyes.

This energy that you have created is forming a new pathway in your brain.

This time you have spent with yourself is creating new hormones,

Releasing new ideas and energies in your body.

Never underestimate the power of awareness.

Feel that light.

Perhaps you can see it emanating around you or feel a clean fresh sensation in the air around you.

You have consciously chosen to create this difference and just know that this new energy will follow you all day,

Will affect the globe,

Will affect those who need your support and love.

I hope you feel called to practice this meditation again and again.

Join support groups if you feel called,

Speak with therapists,

Speak with your friends and family.

The more conversations and awarenesses we can bring to ourselves into the world starts to create this everlasting change.

You have started change today.
