The physical world is ablaze with distractions that pull our senses in one way or another.
We're living in the sensory body and we experience life majorly through the mind.
But below the surface we have that inner self,
Our purest unchanging form.
The outside noise therefore becomes a magnet for our perception and we end up living an entirely sensory experience rather than connecting with our inner self.
The inner self is a place of pure peace.
It's a place of harmony and connection.
And to understand the self,
The observer of the mind and the body and the world,
We need to try and discriminate our reality and understand our perceptions through a more critical eye.
We associate deeply with the external.
We attach our identity to it.
If we say I am a businessman,
You're associating the you with your work.
If you say I am a woman,
You're associating yourself with your physical body.
Or by saying I am rich,
You're associating yourself with material,
Money.
Yoga Sutra 1.
4.
Vritti sarujam etaratra.
The self assumes the form of the mental modifications,
Meaning we associate the self with the impressions created by the mind.
We are a part of nature and even though technology and indoor spaces feel like they disturb that connection,
They cannot.
As living beings,
We are deeply connected with everything in our sphere of experience.
It's the mind that puts up these barriers and restricts that natural flow of energy,
Kind of like a dam blocking water.
To get closer to ourselves,
We must try to distinguish what is reality and what is imposed upon us via conditioning.
Nothing in this world is good or bad.
Everything just is.
Everything is continuously in balance and harmonizing within itself.
If something destructive happens in this physical world,
You can rely on nature to balance the scales,
To create something in its place.
The world is in constant motion,
Constant change.
Death becomes rebirth.
If you experience,
For example,
High intensity anger from another person,
You naturally know that you need to find a space of calm to balance that experience.
If you do a really intense workout in the morning,
You know your body,
Your nature will urge you to rest for longer,
More intently.
Trust in these surroundings,
In people particularly,
Because we have seen how people lie and how people can break our trust.
But how beautiful is it that no matter what happens,
We can have faith in nature to take care of balancing the scales.
This,
However,
Is as a whole,
A whole entity.
We're connected deeply with everything in our surroundings.
If something destructive happens at the other side of the planet,
This may well be balanced out through you.
And this is why we should see everything as a whole.
When you follow your values and act in unselfish manners,
You're doing it for the good of the whole.
If you're looking at this world with critical and negative eyes,
Then that's what you're going to see.
You need to actively tweak your perception.
If we can view all fate,
All that is happening as good,
As harmonious,
As balancing the scales,
As benefiting the overall harmony of the universe,
Then we won't be affected so harshly when things don't go as expected.
Even the painful experiences that you feel,
The disturbing emotions,
Feel them deeply.
Understand that their expression within you is called for by the universe.
To block this flow of emotions is to block the natural flow of energy.
And then this will need to be expressed in other ways,
Maybe through disease of the body or through outbursts which can harm others.
By allowing nature to flow through you like water,
By realizing that you're simply a vessel for the universe to express itself,
You can get closer to your true self.
You can live a life in tune with high frequency energy of peace and love and ultimate harmony.
