Hey Wholeness,
This is Josh.
I don't know if you guys know this but Insight Timer recently changed their model for how teachers get compensated and so in a way this is kind of a shameless plug but also a challenge to get people coming back to the app.
So I thought how am I going to do this?
What's the best way to do this that's not just out for you know a few shekels here and there?
What's the benefit of this or what can it be?
And how can this benefit pretty much me but mostly those users of Insight Timer?
So one of the things that occurred to me is the classic practice advice of picking one practice and sticking with it for quite a while.
So for me I've actually been doing this finally after years in my meditation practice of just kind of intuiting what to do right before I sat on the cushion or as I was sitting on the cushion and drawing on all kinds of different practices and techniques and intuition even.
I've now switched to Samatha for quite some time,
Months and months.
So in my daily practice here's a challenge for you guys to pick a practice and stick with it for a month.
Can you do it?
Well one of the things that could probably help is if you go to Insight Timer's fast library and you type in your practice you go to the search bar and you can search 20,
000 topics and every day you can go unless it's a kind of a rare practice go and search things out and listen to a new guided meditation listen to a new talk every day or just a few minutes of one and then incorporate that into your daily practice and really stick with it and that can be support it can be instructions it can be encouragement what also you could do is you could start a list of Insight Timers guided meditations and talks that support your practice that are related to your practice especially once you find helpful and then you can compile that list and share it and then other people can benefit from it even post it on social media or whatnot.
Another thing if you're not into sticking to the practice but you think this is an interesting challenge of coming back every day and doing like one related topic to learn about it there's so many different talks teachers and teachings and education and so can build one's knowledge and leading on to wisdom.
So for example I just typed in trauma so just rattle off some of these trauma topics here trauma and healing trauma awareness trauma bonding trauma coping trauma education trauma effects and I'll just skip the word trauma here experience but it's you know trauma healing integration memories memory processing processing recognition recovery reflections release reprocessing resolution responses sensitivity support survivors symptoms trauma therapies trauma transformation transmutation triggers understanding and then trauma-informed trauma-informed approaches trauma-informed care trauma-informed mindfulness trauma-informed therapies trauma-sensitive meditations trauma-sensitive yoga and trauma.
So just on that one topic which is a huge topic obviously and a very very very important one there's all these different categories and that's just browsing the topics you can search by name so hopefully this will give you a little bit of inspiration and encouragement to pick a practice or a topic and do it for a month.
Also if you have no idea you think this is a great idea but you have nowhere to start why not spend a month exploring a different topic every day and then you can either keep that up for a month or once you find one you want to stick with then do it for a month and do it that way.
All right well feel free to contact me and let me know how this goes if you have any questions or find it interesting or stupid or whatever reach out and share ask all right be well.
