In this brief mindful centering, you can practice choosing where you place your attention. Let go with deep breaths and come up with a word of purpose to help you through this time in your life. Repeat that word as a practice and remember it throughout your day and your week, to inspire you and bring you back to the mindset of mindfulness, remembering you have control over how you are in relationship with each moment.

Hi,

This is Joni.

Welcome to this practice of mindfulness and purpose.

I invite you to sit with a tall spine.

Take a deep inhale and exhale with a sigh.

Either close your eyes or gaze downward.

Mindfulness is a wonderful gift that helps us to choose where we place our attention and who we want to be.

I invite you to listen as I share a quote by Viktor Frankl.

Between stimulus and response,

There is a space.

In that space is our power to choose our response.

And in our response lies our growth and our freedom.

And so in this moment,

I invite you to soften around the edges to soften around any negative inner voice that might be present.

Let's take three deep breaths to allow that to clear out.

Letting go.

Who do you want to be?

Who do you want to be?

And how do you want to be in relationship with your life?

What qualities do you wish to cultivate within yourself?

Do you need patience?

Trust?

Acceptance?

Gratitude?

Strength?

Softness?

Faith?

Release?

Beginner's mind?

How do you want to be in relationship with your life right now?

What quality might help you in moving forward?

Let's take another three deep breaths.

Let every exhale be a clearing.

And after your next exhale,

Allow it to come to you,

Your purpose,

The quality with which you're going to move through this time in your life.

What quality are you going to hold on to and grow with each breath,

With each hour,

With each day that passes?

Take that word,

That quality,

Or if it's a couple of words,

Repeat it to yourself.

Take one more deep breath.

Open your eyes.

Say that word to yourself again and continue about your day,

Remembering this word,

Your purpose,

As you move through this day and the next.

Take care.
