Breathing brings you home.
Body and mind harmonize together in the breath.
By becoming aware of breathing,
You connect to your body's intelligence.
By slowing down your breath,
You become calm.
You reduce stress.
You flush out your impulsive energy.
Find a comfortable position for this meditation.
Maintain a straight back with its natural curves.
Hands on your knees or palms facing up if you wish to lay down for this practice.
Then gently close the eyes and mouth.
To live life one breath at a time is to live in the moment.
One moment at a time.
In this way,
We cannot become weighed down by the past or wound up by the future.
Entering the moment-to-moment direct experience of each breath allows us to focus on what really matters right now,
Which we can all manage with a bit of practice.
Becoming aware of your breath's natural rhythm.
Observing the soft inhalation and exhalation.
Oxygenating and cleansing the body.
Seeing how effortless the breathing process can really be.
Breathing in through the nose.
And out through the nose.
In through the nose.
And out through the nose.
Disengaging from the mind and only paying attention to the breath.
Noticing how different one breath is from the next.
It's the same with life.
One day,
One moment.
Different from the next.
Always changing.
Always evolving.
Always changing.
Feel yourself sinking down into the surface supporting you.
It can be a chair.
The floor.
Carpet.
Grass.
Mix into the center of the body.
Located in the middle of the chest.
Just behind the sternum.
Begin to feel your breath deepen and soften into your lower abdomen.
Activating belly breathing.
And nice full inhalations and exhalations.
Pulling in the air from the belly and feeling the belly rise more than your chest.
Breathing in and feeling the goodness of receiving a full breath of air.
And then breathing out and softening.
Sinking deeper into the support of the earth beneath you.
Allowing every inhalation to be a chance to open your senses and really feel what's here and now.
Allowing every exhalation to be a chance to be aware of the earth's support beneath us.
Feeling the strength of Mother Earth and allowing it to bring you a sense of stability and balance.
Getting in touch with it.
Feeling it.
Trusting it.
Observing it.
Relaxing into it.
Breathing in.
Breathing out.
And allow your awareness of the earth beneath you to ground you in this present moment.
As you take a gentle,
Deep breath in.
And as you exhale,
Smile.
Feel the corners of your mouth going up.
Deep breath in and out.
Smile.
Feel the relaxation on your face.
Deep breath in and out.
Smiling.
Can you feel the difference in your heart when you're smiling?
Can you feel the difference in your heart when your smile is genuine?
I will allow you some time to do another 10 or so breaths in and out.
Smiling even more with each exhalation.
Be gentle.
You are supported by the surface beneath you.
Grounding.
Relaxing.
And smiling.
And as you exhale,
Smile.
And as you exhale,
Smile.
Fantastic.
The next time you feel angry,
Stressed,
Or anxious,
Pay attention to your breathing.
Check in with your breath.
Chances are when you're feeling overwhelmed,
Your breath becomes short and shallow.
Controlling your emotions becomes more enabled when you breathe deeper and longer and more gently.
Thank you.
