This is the calm technique.

This is a simple exercise you can use on the go to release stress and tension and become more present.

Let's begin by taking three mindful breaths.

Just become aware of your breath as you inhale and exhale.

In this practice we will use the acronym CALM.

Chest,

Arms,

Legs and movement.

And finally checking in on our mind.

So let's begin.

Draw your attention to your chest area.

Just noticing the quality of your breath.

If it is rapid and shallow.

Just try to breathe more deeply into your tummy area nice and slowly.

Noticing that you become more calm and at ease with each breath you take.

Next pay attention to your arms.

Consciously try to relax your arms and allow them to feel more loose and relaxed.

Allowing your calming breath to flow all the way down your arms to your fingertips.

After a few cycles of breath move your attention down to your legs.

If they are feeling rigid allow your muscles to relax and release any tension you may be holding onto.

Enjoy the feeling of ease entering your body as you give yourself permission to let go of all the stress and unease.

You may now like to induce a little movement into your body as you gently move on with your day with more ease.

Still breathing calmly,

Slowly and deeply.

You are now feeling more relaxed and in control.

As you check in with your mind you will notice how your mind has also become still and calm.

Enjoy using this technique any time you feel stress or unease in your mind and your body.
