Good morning and welcome to this brand new day.
Every day that you wake up,
There's a fresh chance for you to make choices that are right for you.
Choices in how you spend your time and who you spend it with.
Choices in how you nourish yourself and take the time to listen to what works for you and what doesn't.
Choices in how you speak to others and most importantly,
Choices in how you speak to yourself.
Get yourself into a comfortable position.
Place your hands on your belly and on your next breath in,
Feel that cool air travel all the way down your throat and let it follow your spine all the way down into your belly and as it fills,
Feel your stomach expand against your hands.
As you breathe out,
Let the air continue down the spine,
Out through your tailbone and down into the earth,
Carrying with it any tension,
Any old thoughts,
Any frustrations that you no longer need in your body.
We're going to continue that cycle a couple of times now,
Breathing in through the nose,
Letting that air follow the spine down,
Filling that stomach area to expand against your hand and on the out breath,
Letting it flow out through the spine,
Out through the tailbone and into the earth.
Breathing in through the nose,
The air flowing down the spine,
Filling that stomach area expanding against your hand and then feeling it contract as the air flows down the spine,
Down towards the earth.
So continuing that breath cycle,
Just double check on your body,
Making sure it's relaxed.
Check in with your toes and ankles,
Let them relax.
Check in through your calves,
Up through your knees,
Up through your thighs,
Let your whole legs relax.
Through your pelvis area,
Let that fresh breath come in and just loosen up that whole area,
Letting it relax.
Let all the muscles and tendons let go of any tension they're holding onto and release it down to the earth.
Breathing up through the stomach area,
Up through your chest,
Up through your spine,
Let the fresh breath come in and clear out anything that's no longer needed there and send it down the spine into the earth.
Letting the out breath carry away anything you no longer need,
Anything that's been held on from yesterday that you don't need coming into this fresh new day.
Now coming up through your chest,
Letting it loosen through your shoulders and let it soften all the way down your arms,
All the way down to your fingers,
Letting them relax in your lap.
Relaxing your throat soften,
Relaxing your jaw,
Relaxing around your eyes,
Up through your forehead,
Just letting your whole scalp relax softly.
And now that you're feeling relaxed,
I want you to imagine yourself sitting in the morning light.
You might be on a beach,
You might be in a field,
You might be in your home just watching the sunrise,
But you can feel that soft blue light filtering in,
Touching your skin and making it glow in a way it doesn't glow any other time of the day.
That soft morning light coming in,
Sending signals to your body to wake up and start the day.
And so sitting in this morning light,
Take the time to think about what sort of day you want to create today.
Too often we start our day on autopilot,
We dress and feed our bodies and get it set up for the day,
But we don't actually set up our mind for the day,
The part that actually dictates how we perceive our day.
Take the time now to think about how you want to direct your thoughts today.
How do you want to experience your family this morning?
What are you expecting of them before they've even walked in the room?
Would you like to be rushed,
Do we leave at the last minute?
Or are you going to be prepared for the day and give yourself time to get there in a calm manner?
When you get into your workspace,
Will you open your email first and let it dictate your actions for the day?
Or will you take the time to set yourself up with your priorities and work out how that's going to fit into the day,
Allocating time to check and respond to those emails?
How would you like to think about yourself today?
Wouldn't it be nice to congratulate yourself for all that you've done,
To cheer yourself on when you're tackling a difficult task?
How would you like to end the day?
Would you like to be coming home with a tank fully empty with nothing left to give to your loved ones?
Or are you going to take a few minutes,
A couple of times today,
Just to stop and take some breaths,
Just enough to refuel your body,
Clear your mind and fill that tank so that you still have some left at the end of the day?
So now that you've set your thoughts up for the day,
Take a few deep breaths,
Start to wiggle your hands and toes,
Stretch out your spine,
Roll your shoulders back and walk into your day with pride.
You own this day.
You get to create this day.
