Hey there,
It's Elena,
Your Design Thinking and Mindset Coach.
I'm here with a meditation that is focused on love today.
We're going to begin with a breathing exercise to get grounded in the space and then I'll share a short talk and I'll conclude with a guided meditation.
I first want to thank Sarah Blondin for inspiring the format of today's meditation and for inspiring me to dive deeper into the more poetic side of my practice.
So be sure to find a comfortable space,
Whether you are sitting in a chair or lying on the ground or lying in a bed,
Just make sure that your body is relaxed and your spine is straight.
Place one hand on your chest and one on your belly and gently close your eyes.
Inhale and focus on making your lower hand on your belly to move up,
To expand.
Light pause,
Now purse your lips together as if through a straw and exhale.
We'll do that one more time,
A deep inhale,
Expand your belly,
Light pause,
Purse your lips together and exhale slowly.
Again,
Inhale,
Pause and exhale,
Allow your breath to become relaxed and move back into its regular breathing pattern.
And now a brief talk.
A woman approached a wise elder and asked for a bit of their time.
The elder nodded and sat down with the woman.
The woman's knees were shaking and the wise one looked at her with compassion.
The woman began to spill before them all of her pain and stories of worry.
She speaks of how afraid she is of the world warming,
Of the terrors that she learns about in distant lands.
She speaks of her fear of the unknown and how unsettled she feels about what the future may hold.
She tells the wise one of how anger erupts from her sometimes,
Seemingly out of nowhere.
She also spoke of how her body aches,
How her soul cries and how at times her heart feels distant.
The elder listens to the stories of pain,
Their eyes are deeply fastened on hers.
There's a long pause and as the woman awaits the response,
The elder speaks.
Yes,
I hear what you say,
But tell me dear one,
What do you love?
It's common to speak often about the things that bring us pain and discomfort,
The things that bring us worry and fear.
Sometimes our thoughts are full of criticisms and judgment of the world and sometimes of ourselves.
Fear is something that we are not just experiencing outside of ourselves,
But we're also fed fear through the media and sometimes that builds up and it creates thoughts in our mind that are not rooted in what we desire,
But rooted in what we fear.
Have you ever caught yourself passing the baton of fear?
You may have and just know,
Beloved,
That you can counterbalance this by speaking of the things that light up your life.
Instead of being in a loop of recycling hurt,
You can nourish your soul with focusing on love.
Let's take this time to be present and ignite the deep love that rests in our hearts,
To remind ourselves that even though life is filled with that which is challenging and heartbreaking,
We are held together by an infinite love.
We are surrounded by infinite love.
Both exist,
The light and the dark.
Both deserves our attention and grace.
Love will always be there as a path of healing through the hurt.
Today as we look inward and enfold our hearts with love,
We are going to connect with the places of love that we carry inside of ourselves.
We are going to unwrap the gifts of our life.
So I invite you to let your breath be your focus.
Slowly sink deeper in the moment with each breath and bring your attention to your heart as I speak these words.
I love the morning,
The minutes right after the Sun rises and the grass is covered in dew.
The Sun is soft and slow,
Creeping above the horizon.
I love the taste of my morning tea,
Black and rich with a bit of cream.
I love listening to the birds that visit my tree.
Their melody makes my soul feel seen.
I love feeling cool breezes and watching the trees sway.
Their leaves rustle and speak a language I cannot repeat.
I love the Texas sky and how midday it's a fast blue.
The feeling of warm water and soap as I clean my hands to prepare a meal for myself.
The taste of green grapes,
So sweet and delicious.
The feeling of putting on clean clothes and smelling like fresh laundry.
The light hum that I hear in my home when I'm silent,
Only my appliances joining in the dune.
Feeling the warmth of the Sun peeping through the trees as I walk through the forest by my home.
I love when I'm on those walks with a friend,
Feeling a sense of connection and acceptance surrounding me.
I love to be loved and I love to love.
I love to be loved just for being me.
Love is our medicine.
Love is our cure.
Love is our gift.
Love expands our capacity for more love.
In the next few minutes,
It is your turn.
It's your turn to speak out into the room what you love most.
You can choose to speak in a whisper or your normal tone,
Whichever is most comfortable for you.
Dear one,
What do you love?
Continue to speak to yourself what you love.
Connect with those small moments.
Connect with the deeply meaningful ones.
From the mundane to the grand,
What do you love?
Now connect with what you feel.
How do you feel in your body?
Is there warmth?
Do you feel an emotion welling up inside?
Connect with what you feel.
Are there any emotions that you sense?
Maybe happiness or peace?
Or maybe you just feel more connected to yourself.
What do you sense?
Notice how your body spoke to you as you recounted what you love.
This is a healing act.
This is a vital remembering.
Speaking of love creates space for grace.
Feel the grace.
Breathe it in.
Allow your body to relax even deeper into this grace.
We are here to love and to share love.
Feel this light.
Feel this purpose.
Breathe into this knowing.
We are here to love and share love.
Dear one,
As you go on with your day,
Remember that love and compassion are always a choice that's available to you.
Feel any and everything deeply,
But return back to what you are made of and what you are made for.
Love.
Take a deep inhale and a complete exhale.
A deep inhale and a complete exhale.
Take a deep inhale and exhale with a sound.
Gently wiggle your fingers and toes.
Gently wake your body.
Move your body in a way that is supportive for you.
Open your eyes and arise when you're ready.
Thank you for joining me and I look forward to connecting with you next time.
Be well and breathe deep.
