This is an invitation,

An invitation to go within and to explore what some have called the secret of secrets,

The esoteric wisdom that leads to yoga,

Union with source,

Union with the divine.

Union with the divine is the goal of all religious traditions,

Of all spirituality.

Union with the source is the truth of who you are that transcends the finite mind.

It cannot be seen or understood by the limitations of the finite rational mind.

The peace and grounding that some call the still point cannot be reached by any physical or mental activity for it transcends identity with the body-mind.

No amount of effort will take you there.

It is only through the idea of wu-wei,

Effortless action,

That this union called samadhi by some,

Nirvana by others,

Satorai by others still,

Achieving what Jesus referred to as the kingdom of heaven on earth can only be achieved of letting go of effort,

Letting go of identification with thought,

Letting go of attachment to an outcome,

Letting go of clinging,

Letting go of all preferences and all phenomenons generated by the mind and the senses and relaxing into naked awareness.

Soften your attention,

Allow attention to relax into infinite awareness of the divine I am.

Notice there are two fundamental dimensions to existence in this moment.

There is the ephemeral,

The ever-changing,

That which comes and goes.

There is also that which is unchanging.

Thoughts,

Sensations,

Ideas,

Concepts,

Feelings are a field of constantly changing phenomena.

Can you also notice that which is unchanging,

That which is aware of the field of change.

We are normally so caught up in the ever-changing field,

Fixated on and identifying with objects,

That we often ignore the dimension of awareness,

That we often ignore that which is aware.

So let us begin our investigation by being conscious of consciousness,

By being aware of awareness,

By relaxing into our center of authenticity,

That which is aware.

The challenge with relaxing into the center of authenticity,

Being aware of awareness for long periods of time,

Is that we have not cultivated the tranquility of heart and clarity of mind to stay within awareness.

We are addicted to comfort and the finite mind and its insatiable pursuit of activity,

Designed to pull you out of the present moment,

Will seek to escape from this exercise.

It will likely find its assignment to do nothing in this moment unacceptable,

And will cling to any hindrance or distraction to be released from resting in awake awareness.

There are two primary obstacles that keep us locked in the prison of ego identification.

The body is attached to comfort,

And the mind is attached to knowing.

If we continue to seek the comfort of the body,

And continue to seek knowing with the mind,

We will never move beyond the limitations of the psychophysical body mind.

We will remain like sheep,

A creature that craves pleasure and avoids pain,

Endlessly responding to new stimulus,

Endlessly attached to doing,

Not being,

And in doing so,

Completely pulling a veil over our awareness of pure being.

To be aware,

To be fully attentive to the egoic conditioning,

Without concepts,

Without control,

Without manipulation or distortion,

Without the filtering of the limited mind,

Is to be present without choosing,

And to be present without choosing,

Is to be absent the chooser.

Every time your mind moves without your willing,

Even the tiniest movement is due to the hypnosis of social conditioning.

This journey we are on,

This pathless path,

Leads to the sensation of the waves and ripples on the surface of the ocean of consciousness that we call mind,

To realizing all levels of self as empty.

Can you drop all doing?

Can you release the need for incessant mental activity?

Listen closely.

This is the paradox.

Notice how quickly the limited finite mind hears those questions and craves to understand how.

The paradox is,

In order to experience the infinite love and joy and bliss and well-being that is our birthright,

We must first transcend the limited finite mind.

The mind will always fail in any attempt to understand stillness,

To understand tranquility,

To understand clarity,

Because the mind is movement.

The mind itself is movement.

Mental activity,

Bodily activity,

Are endless processes of doing.

Therefore,

We must make the shift from being a human doing,

To becoming,

Laxing into our true identity as a spiritual being.

The psycho-physiological body,

Mind,

Are processes of constant movement,

A collection of unconscious patterns.

That pathological pattern of you has to end for union with the divine to be realized,

To actualize heaven on earth.

Spiritual teachers have given similar instruction across many religious disciplines.

At their heart,

The doctrines are very similar.

Be still and know.

Become aware of the pure awareness that is before thought,

Before ideas,

Before physical manifestation in the physical realm.

Be still and know that you,

God,

What exactly do you understand these teachings to mean?

What is it exactly that becomes still?

Obviously,

Your physical body will never become perfectly still.

As frozen as you can make yourself,

Your heart continues to beat.

As long as we accept the concept of time and space,

We can never embody stillness,

Because time and space itself is movement.

Time-space is mind.

The universe is infinite mind.

Notice how quickly the finite mind wants to challenge this.

If everything in time and space is movement,

How can I be still and know?

How can you be still on a globe spinning a thousand miles an hour at the equator,

Circling the sun in a giant ellipse at 64,

000 miles an hour in a galaxy spinning through the universe at 500,

000 miles per hour?

Inside your body,

Your heart is beating 50 or 60 times every minute.

Your lungs are breathing 14 or 15 or 16 breaths per minute on average.

Your bones are making new red blood cells at the rate of seven and a half billion every hour.

Food is digesting.

The brain is producing brainwaves.

On one level,

It seems like we are perpetual motion.

How can we be still?

When the ancient masters say,

Be still and know,

What are they talking about?

Could they be talking about something else?

Something beyond time and space?

Something beyond the physical and mental?

What is meant by stillness is something that we have no word for in our modern language system.

Our language fails us.

Stillness is possibly the most accurate word,

And yet that fails to fully capture the vastness,

The infinite vastness,

The eternal vastness.

Of pure awareness,

That part of you that wasn't born and will never die,

That part of you that sometimes looks at a picture and notices the body is getting older,

Notices that the body is changing.

Get in touch now with that deep,

Unchanging part of you that is witness to all of the other changes.

This is the witness.

Relax now into witness,

Awareness.

From this place,

That which is being realized is pure awareness.

It is that which is beyond.

Notice now that it is beyond changing and changeless.

It becomes obvious that the stillness and the movement,

The silence and the noise are a duality created by the mind.

This is all emptiness dancing,

A new perspective on the way that you interface with the perceived reality that is the human experience.

Oh,

Let's edit that just a little bit.

It's actually about dropping the interface.

It's about releasing the constriction of the infinite into the finite and experiencing your true nature.

This,

As it is,

Absent the restriction,

Absent the biases,

Absent the conditioning,

Unmediated in any way by the finite rational mind.

As we relax into witness awareness,

The so-called outer world is transcended by realizing the stillness of the witness awareness,

Which,

When realized,

Includes all that which it transcends.

The duality of stillness and movement collapses.

In the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali,

Maharishi Patanjali,

Who many call the father of yoga,

Labeled this realization samadhi,

The great awakening.

He went on to say,

This great awakening,

This samadhi,

Is merely the beginning of the path.

Patanjali says that the entire endeavor,

The entire endeavor of yoga is the cessation of the whirlpool of the mind.

In the ancient times,

They said this was the cessation of karma,

Liberation.

In modern times,

It may be more helpful to think of it as an end to the robotic,

Making our way through life like a drone,

Simply playing out unconsciously ingrained.

When we realize our true nature,

It is said that we temporarily cease our identification with and reaction to the mind.

It can be thought of a little bit like riding a bicycle,

Pedaling along,

Creating movement,

But as you relax into stillness,

The momentum of the bike continues for a while until it ultimately comes to rest at its zero point.

The unconsciously ingrained habit patterns are simply the vehicle through which we're able to turn life over to automatic pilot,

The tendency for energy to continue.

These patterns began being installed in you through the human domestication process shortly after you had the ability to speak.

So take your age now minus two years or two and a half years and recognize that that's the length of time that you have been practicing the unconscious habit patterns,

The conditioning of the domestication process,

What I call the hypnosis of social conditioning.

These other than conscious patterns have the power to run our life unless we take conscious control and interrupt the patterns that are firing off on deep unconscious levels.

You may notice yourself slipping back into these ingrained habit patterns and that will in essence be like beginning to pedal that bike again.

Energy flows where attention goes and as our mind begins to wander and we are no longer full of the present moment in our mind,

Those unconscious patterns can begin to be unconsciously,

Automatically re-triggered again.

And those patterns that are well-worn have created information superhighways in the neural network of your brain.

Another way to consider this is through the law of inertia.

A mind in motion tends to stay in motion unless acted upon by an outside force.

Said another way,

Unconsciously ingrained habit patterns will continue to unfold effortlessly unless those patterns are interrupted.

In the matrix of the conditioned mind that we call the universe,

Energy and thought cycle through a labyrinth of prisms that exist on a continuum from micro to macro levels,

Branching and exploring endlessly all spiritual practices and intervention,

An outside force,

Consciousness which interrupts the pattern of energy from flowing in the conditioned pathways.

The change that you are looking for in your life,

Everything that you're consciously aware of awaits you at this next evolution.

But you can do all of the practices and all of the meditation.

You can have an awakening,

A satori,

Become quote-unquote enlightened.

However,

If we go back to the same old patterns or the same routine and the wiring remains in place for those unconsciously ingrained habit patterns,

Oscillation can occur.

The veil can be pulled back over the truth.

However,

Having realized this,

This can now become the mantra for perpetual meditation,

For life as meditation.

Simply checking in constantly to see if you are showing up as infinite mind,

As a manifestation of love,

Or are you identifying with finite mind,

With the egoic self,

In which case you'll be showing up seeking love,

Seeking wholeness,

Seeking for the peace that exists beyond the duality of the perceived reality.

Over time,

You'll notice it will become easier to remain longer and longer grounded in awareness.

The easier it will become to notice when you are slipping back into conditioned finite mind which runs,

It is the owner operator of the perceived reality.

And ultimately,

As we stay grounded into our true nature,

The more conditioning will unwind,

The easier it will be to stay there.

The quicker that we'll recognize when we're slipping back into the conditioned mind,

The more traumas that are healed,

What the ancients called samskaras are purified.

We begin to see our so-called negative emotions for what they are,

Information,

Rumble strips on the highway of life that is the pathless path and merely an invitation to return back to this space and become centered,

Grounded,

And aligned once again.

Nothing to add,

No problems to solve on the deepest level,

Never broken,

No need to be fixed,

Nothing lacking,

Everything that you need to experience the unencumbered joy,

The bliss that is our birthright was installed at the factory by the manufacturer is and always will be part of the original equipment.

The ancients had another term and that term is namaste,

Which today in the west is often as a greeting,

A synonym for hello or goodbye.

However,

It carries a much deeper meaning.

It is the recognition of this space inside of us,

Inside of the perceived each other.

And it merely says,

I recognize that there is a place inside of me and a place inside of you beyond these ideas of right doing and wrongdoing,

Beyond the ideas of the conditioned self,

Beyond conditioning itself,

That when you are in that space and I am in that space,

We are,

We are union.

So I leave you in that space.

Namaste.
