Hi,
Welcome to Awakening Moon's guided meditation series.
I am Julianne Blue,
Your meditation guide today.
We're going to be working today with a five minute gratitude for your food.
You can take this concept and use it really in any small moment in your day,
But what we're going to focus on right now is the idea of quieting down before you eat,
Getting control of your breath,
Being mindful of where your emotions are,
Why you're eating,
Where the food has come from,
And just taking a moment to sit with our own bodies as we ask it to digest and process what we're putting into it.
So find a comfortable spot to sit with your food.
And you're just going to put your feet flat on the floor and you can fold your hands in your lap.
You can put them on either side of your plate,
Whatever feels comfortable for you.
You could even put a hat on your heart.
Anything for you that anchors you and connects you to this space.
And I'll just take a nice deep breath in through your feet and let it come all the way up into your hips and into your belly.
Let it expand into your ribs and up into your heart.
And just loosen up those throat muscles,
Loosen your jaw.
Close your eyes and relax your eyebrows and let your shoulders relax down.
Just letting go of whatever has happened today or whatever you're worried might happen after this.
Just being present right now in this moment and breathing there.
And now just open your eyes and look down at your food.
Take a minute to think about how it got to you.
Where was it grown or made?
Whose hands or what systems created this food for you?
How did it travel to you?
How was it treated?
All the different ingredients,
All the different journeys,
All these elements sitting in front of you made to arrive in this time and place with you for the nourishment of your body.
And just taking a nice deep breath with that.
And feeling the space within you well up with awareness and gratitude for what is in front of you.
Just asking your body to help you to crave that which is good for you.
Asking it to speak to you about what it needs,
What's not serving it.
And just sitting in that awareness with gratitude for the conversation without self-judgment.
And just listening,
Just becoming aware and just giving thanks for that awareness.
Now just take this sense of peace and calmness with you as you take each bite intentionally watching for the speed at which you're chewing.
Paying attention to savoring the flavors.
Smiling.
Holding to the delight of it.
And just falling into that gentle rhythm of digestion.
Thank you.
Thank you.
