This guided visualization is the first in a series of 5 sensory explorations of nature and the seasons. As sight is our most powerful sensory ability, with around 10 million sensory receptors dedicated to it in our brain (of around 11 million total), I thought it made sense to start here. Journey with me to a place in nature and delight in your faculty of sight!

Hello,

And welcome to the first day of spring break.

My name is Aileen,

And I'll be your guide as you journey through your five senses,

Finding a deeper connection with your body and the earth,

Cultivating a sense of awe,

Of wonder,

Of belonging,

And of deep,

Nourishing,

And deserved rest.

So get comfy,

Either seated with your spine tall and erect,

Or lie down if you prefer.

Tune into your breathing,

Allowing it to flow in and gently out of your body with ease.

I'm so glad you could join me for this meditation.

I'd like you to imagine yourself in a growing,

Green place.

Perhaps you find yourself on a path in the woods,

Light filtering down through gossamer leaves,

Dappling the soft forest floor beneath your feet.

Perhaps you are in a lush,

Open meadow,

Full of swaying green grasses,

Carpets of clover,

And swaths of colorful flowers.

Wherever you find yourself,

I'd like you to take a few minutes here and explore the scenery with your eyes.

Notice the subtle variations in hue as you examine the underside of a leaf.

Note the textures of tree bark,

The fuzz of dandelion puffs,

Or the point rose thorns.

Allow your body to fill with awe as you take in the breathtaking beauty of nature.

I'm going to leave you to explore here for a few minutes,

Really focusing.

And if your mind has wandered,

Bring it back to the place you are exploring,

To the green leaves,

The blue sky,

The violet flowers,

And everything else you find in this natural space.

Take a last look around,

And slowly bring yourself back into your body and the room.

Green is the color of spring,

Of renewal and rebirth.

It both symbolizes and enhances harmony,

Tranquility,

And peace.

It's no coincidence that it is the color of the heart chakra,

Bringing balance between the head and the heart,

Connecting them.

It is a soothing color for the human mind,

Promoting relaxation,

Optimism,

And hopefulness,

While at the same time reducing anxiety.

It helps to increase our sense of security,

Aids focus,

Memory,

Problem solving,

Improves creativity,

And increases our positive thinking.

It is the color of balance.

As you move into your day,

I encourage you to bring your attention to your vision frequently throughout the day.

If you have houseplants or are lucky enough to live in a place where there is greenery outside already,

Spend some time savoring this color.

See if you can cultivate a sense of awe at the visual beauty surrounding you in your everyday existence.

Please feel look forward to connecting with you here.

Our sense of hearing.
