This short somatic body centered meditation supports the release of physical tension and stored emotional energy in the body. Through gentle scanning, intuitive movement, and shaking, you’re invited to listen to what your body needs and allow it to let go. There’s no right way to move... only an invitation to soften, explore, and tend to yourself with care. A grounding practice for moments of heaviness, stress, or when your body feels tight or overloaded.

Hello and welcome to this quick meditation to release whatever you're holding right now in your body.

Today we're going to be exploring tension and emotional release through somatic practice of body awareness.

So take a moment to either find a seat or if you feel like standing you could stand for this.

But we'll just take a moment to find stillness and to soften our bodies,

Soften our experiences.

And we'll just begin to start to scan through the body and tend to whatever we find in whatever pocket in our bodies.

So with the eyes closed and the attention soft we'll start up in our heads,

Feeling our scalps,

Feeling our ears and our jaws and just noticing if there's any tension here,

Any holding or tightness.

And go ahead and intuitively tend to your body however feels good.

Maybe giving your scalp a scratch,

Maybe giving your ears a massage,

Maybe opening and closing and rolling out the jaw if you find tension there,

Tightness in the jaw,

Maybe sticking out the tongue if that feels good.

Just allowing our bodies to become alive,

Allowing our bodies to tell us what they need and to let go and give it to it.

Moving down to the neck,

Noticing if it might feel good to roll out the neck or turn the neck side to side or up and down.

Just seeing if the neck needs any love,

Maybe a massage from the hands.

Feeling now into the shoulders,

Maybe rolling out the shoulders.

Moving down into the arms,

Maybe massaging the forearms,

Maybe rolling out the wrists.

Just really tending to your body,

Giving your body some love however it feels good.

Spending time with the arms and the hands,

Maybe even the fingers,

Bending the fingers back,

Bending them forward.

Coming into the chest,

Feeling into the chest,

Noticing if the chest wants to move in any way.

Starting to feel into the belly,

Maybe sending a deep breath into the belly to start moving some energy down there.

Maybe rolling the hips around in a circle,

Feeling into the hips,

What they need.

Maybe getting a little bit of a cat-cow motion happening in the spine.

Just allowing your body to move,

Move whatever energy,

Whatever heaviness or tension is being held.

Coming down into the legs,

Seeing if your thighs need a bit of a massage.

Moving down into the calves and the shins,

Maybe stretching out the ankles and the toes.

Feeling into the feet,

Noticing what is alive in your feet.

What are the feet needing right now?

And then for the last bit,

We're going to start to just shake our bodies.

Start to shake and bring some shaking into your hands and allow that shaking to move into your arms and forearms,

Into your shoulders.

Allow the shaking to move into your chest and your stomach,

Shaking your hips,

Moving,

Moving your legs now,

Moving your feet and your toes,

Allowing your head to move around and shake.

And now your whole body shaking,

Shaking,

Shaking,

Shaking,

Moving energy,

Stirring any heaviness,

Any tension,

Allowing your whole body to move now,

Letting it all move and be free.

And we'll come to rest now,

Allowing everything to stop,

Allowing your body to be still.

And noticing what you feel,

Feeling energy circulating,

Maybe space in areas of the body that there was tension.

Taking one deep breath in through the nose,

And sighing out through the mouth.

We'll open our eyes and come back to the space.

Welcome back.

May you move through the rest of your day with lightness and grace.

May your body know that it can let go and be free.

Thank you.
